Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum

After reading some reviews online about Paul Mitchell’s Super Skinny Serum, and having several stylists I know recommend it, I decided to give it a try. I was looking for a product to help protect my hair from flat ironing, add some shine, and smooth out frizz. This product is supposed to do all of that, as well as reduce the time it takes to blow dry my hair and style it.

I have to say, it works for me. I have very straight hair, with maybe a medium thickness and a fine to medium texture. However, I do get frizz and flyaways, which can be really annoying. This stuff smooths my hair down pretty well, and gives me some nice shine. My hair feels soft and silky, and it has a nice light scent.

As it says on the directions, it’s very concentrated. One pump was enough for my hair length.

The ingredients are ok:
Cyclomethicone, Dimethiconol, Trimethylsiloxyamodimethicone, C11-15 Pareth-7, C12-16 Pareth-9, Trideceth-12, Glycerin, Amodimethicone, Cetrimonium Chloride, Fragrance (Parfum), Amyl Cinnamal, Benzyl Alcohol, Benzyl Salicylate, Citronellol, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Linalool, Limonene, Isopropylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Butylparaben

I’ve seen some people complain that this product doesn’t straighten your hair. Well, nothing I’ve seen about it says it’s a hair straightener. It’s meant to protect your hair from heat styling, such as from a flat iron or blow dryer. On the Paul Mitchell website it explains that the product works by the serum displacing water in the hair shaft and constricting the hair, which leaves it less frizzy. I think all the silicones help with this as well.

This is so popular that at the salon where I picked up my bottle, they sell small ‘on the go’ sizes for your purse as well. So check it out if you want a good product to help protect your hair, make it smooth, and leave it shiny.
