I wanted to talk about Fiber Optic Blush Brushes. I wouldn’t be able to really wear blush at all, if not for FOBB’s.

I purchased my first one back in May from Meow Cosmetics, at the same time that I purchased my wood handled little kabuki brush. It was $10.25 and 4″ long. The size is really perfect for me, as I prefer very short handled brushes. I feel like I have more control with shorter handles, especially on the days that I’m not wearing my contacts. I wear -9.00 in both of my contacts, so I’m pretty much only able to see if I’m very close to a mirror when I don’t have my contacts in. I’ve been using this brush for a few months now, and I think it works pretty well. The black bristles aren’t as dense as they could be, so sometimes I feel like it’s hard to get an even application of brush, but that could also partially be due to me being a blush newbie.
I purchased my second FOBB just about 2 weeks ago from AromaLeigh Cosmetics, at the suggestion of the Muse, and wow I’ve been blown out of the water. The AL brush is very dense where the black bristles are. This allows for a very even application of the blush. While the handle is longer, and a bit more awkward for me to handle, I still feel like it does a better job at a more even application. It was $17.95 and well worth every penny.
I recently got to compare these brushes to the MAC 187 brush when I went to Nordstrom’s to check out the Purple Advanced Brushes set, (when sold seperately this brush retails for $42 and the set of brushes is $49, so if you want the MAC brush, buy the advanced set), and I definitely think that the AromaLeigh brush is as good of quality as the MAC 187.
The Meow Cosmetics brush is ok. It’s a great size for my hand, and I think if you’re more skilled with putting on blush than I am, you’d probably do fine with it. The AromaLeigh brush is a bit long, but works very well. The black bristles are dense enough that application is a lot easier for me with this brush. Neither is going to break the bank with the cost.
For me, fiber optic blush brushes make it possible to wear makeup without looking like a clown. I’ll never live without one again.
What about you?
