So MAC’s Cult of Cherry was released in stores today! I had my list of items reserved at Nordstrom’s MAC counter at I-Mall. My list consisted of Currant lipliner, Bing mattene, So Scarlet lipstick, and Jampacked and Cult of Cherry lipglass. As soon as I got there, the awesome MA Jennifer (I’d spoken to on the phone the day before to her to make my reservation) pointed me to the new collection so I could swatch things. I swatched and loved everything but Jampacked. I was shocked that I didn’t like it. I’m not even sure why I didn’t like it, it just didn’t look good to me.

So, since I didn’t like Jampacked, I decided to pick up a bright pink. I lack a bright pink lipglass, and since I had wanted a bright pink earlier today for my look but didn’t have one, I perused the pinks. I was trying to decide between Flashmode lustreglass and Pink Poodle lipglass, and when Jennifer pointed out that Pink Poodle would be more saturated, I opted for that one. Plus, it has poodle in the name! I love my poodle and that just was too cute for me! I am such a freakin’ dork!

Here are my purchase descriptions:
Lip Pencil – Currant – intense reddish purple
Mattene – Bing – blackened eggplant
Liptstick – So Scarlet – Clean grape burgundy
Tinted Lipglass – Cult of Cherry – clean red with red pearl
Tinted Lipglass – Pink Poodle – bright pink fuchsia with pinky-gold shimmer

I did some Lip Looks for you all with these colors. Please pardon if they’re a bit hasty. It’s late and I’m tired. I’m just so excited about this collection! I should have done all of my pictures in my bathroom, instead of in my bedroom at the vanity. The lighting at my vanity is good for makeup, but crappy for pictures. The lighting in my bathroom is terrible for putting on makeup, but good for pictures.

First up (all at my vanity):

I loved this one so much you get to see two different views. Cult of Cherry is my PERFECT bright red. It’s just so unbelievably gorgeous. The pictures do NOT do it justice! Not at all! I loved this color so much after swatchng it I nearly bought 2. The only lipglass I’ve ever bought two of was Dreamy, and that was after the first was almost out. This color is just about everything I want and look for in a red.

Next (first in my bathroom, second at my vanity):

Bing mattene
1/2 Cult of Cherry, 1/2 Oversexed

Bing looks SO GOOD with Cult of Cherry over it. It looks nice with Oversexed on it.

Then (again at vanity, by this point you can see that my mouth is getting tired of being wiped off and having lippies reapplied):

Again, Cult of Cherry looks phenomenal over So Scarlet too!

So that’s my MAC Cult of Cherry haul. This is the most I’ve ever bought from any MAC collection. With MAC Lure I bought 2 eye shadows, a blush and a lipglass, and with MAC Heatherette I bought an eye shadow trio and a pigment. With one Christmas release I bought 2 glitz glosses and an eye shadow palette.

I’m really happy with what I bought. This is my favorite MAC release ever!

I think that Currant might look good completely lining and filling in the lips with Cult of Cherry over it, though I didn’t try that tonight.
Currant is a great liner for So Scarlet, and it will probably look nice with Bing. I tried Cherry lipliner with Bing first because I was going for a dark lip and thought it might look nice with lighter liner and Cult of Cherry.

Oh, and don’t worry, I’ll be trying So Scarlet and Bing with some black lip gloss layered over them sometime soon.
