Vegan Reception

One thing I forgot to mention about the wedding was that it was vegan, and the food was fantastic. I’m not vegan or vegetarian, but I don’t mind eating that way. I’m an opportunistic omnivore.

They served:
stuffed mushrooms (stuffed with tofu, carrots, spinach and a cheese like substance
brushetta with tomatoes and balsamic vinagerette on it (i hate vinegar but tried this regardless)
bread with olive oil and beans on it (very tasty)
salad with fresh olives, vinagerette and tomatoes (i had mine without vinagerette and olives
vegan lasagna (with soysauge and vegan cheese, etc)

and the DIVINE wedding cake.
The icing on it was perfect and mimicked buttercream, which is my favorite. Half of it was spice cake (tastes like a good carrot cake or gingerbread sort of cake) and the other half chocolate. It was soooo nummy.

I was impressed because I knew that most of the people at the reception were not vegan, but my newly-married friends are, so I was very glad that they could have everything the way that they wanted.

Have any of you tried a lot of vegan food? Do you like it?
I actually prefer it when it comes to going out to restaurants, such as vietnamese or thai. Tasty stuff! I have to be very careful with soy though, as I’m sensitive to it, so I can’t eat it more than once or twice a week, at most.
