Updated Pretty Hair

So I was tired of my Pravana Chromasilk Vivid Violet and I wanted to change it. However, I also knew that it could be hard to color over the hair and make it look good. So I gave it some thought and decided I wanted to end up with a wine/burgundy/magenta sort of color.

I picked up L’Oreal’s HiColor HiLights in Magenta, because I thought it would work well with the purple that I had.

I followed the instructions and used this, plus a bottle of 30 developer (which the box said to use). I spent about $6.00 at Sally’s total for these two products. I sectioned my hair, pulling all of the brown out of the way and leaving the purple down. Then with Ray’s help we applied the Magenta dye to my dry, unwashed hair (this is what the box said to do). We put it in foils. I left it in for 30 minutes as directed. Then I took off the foils and rinsed it in warm water until lit ran clean. Then I washed it with Tigi’s Color Savvy Shampoo and Conditioner. Then I dried it to see how it turned out.

I’m very happy with it. It looks brighter than I imagined. I had expected it would be a deeper color, but I think it’s gorgeous.

It’s very close to the picture that I used for inspiration for this color placement.
This was my inspiration:

Here it is outside in natural light, you can see a tiny strand of purple that we missed.

Here it is inside with my hands running through it:

I have pretty much no makeup on. I have Aromaleigh Angel Wing on my eyes and Urban Decay Electric along my lower lash line and the outer upper lash line.

The purple didn’t seem to affect the Magenta at all, which surprised me.
Anyways, I’m very happy to have my hair looking great ;)
I highly recommend L’Oreal, their products seem to be great.
