Review of Tarte’s Cheek Stains

Recently I received my first Tarte cheek stain from the lovely Jen at Mythbuster Beauty. This was my first ever Tarte product, and my first ever gel stick, as the only previous gel I’d tried (and loved) was TheBalm Stainiac.

After using this blush for a while now, I really think it’s a lovely blush! I’ve been applying it after I put on my moisturizer, but before I put on my mineral makeup foundation. If I need a bit more color, I can then add another layer on top of my foundation.

To apply, I just take off the top, hold my finger on the bottom of the stick so that it will apply evenly to my face, and put a dot on the outer apple of each of my cheeks. I then blend it around and voila! I have a perfect pink blush!

The color I have is True Love, which is a sheer watermelon pink. This is a great color on my pale skin, and I think it might be flattering for a lot of paler skinned women. I’m not sure how well it would work on darker skin, though it seems like the coverage is buildable, so I think it could be built up to work for darker skin. The blush stays on me all day and looks pretty.

What I was really surprised that I loved about True Love is that it has a nice fruity scent, but it doesn’t smell plastic or fake. It’s a sweet and refreshing scent. While you might think that the $28 price tag for a Tarte cheek stain is high, you’re getting a TON of product and it will last you for quite some time. And of course, this is a multi-purpose stain, as you can use it on your lips too!

As you know, I’m a mineral makeup fanatic because I like wearing healthy makeup on my sensitive skin that doesn’t cause me to break out and Tarte products are very healthy! This cheek stain has goji, acai, maracuja, acerola and pomegranate, so it’s loaded with antioxidant rich nutrients and vitamins. It’s perfect for sensitive skin like mine,as it’s paraben free, phthalate free, gluten free, mineral oil free and preservative free.

While the color I have, True Love, is LE and no longer available for purchase on the Tarte Cosmetics website, they do have a ton of other colors available.

Flush – sheer berry red
Blushing Bride – plummy rose
Tipsy – sheer peach with a touch of shimmer
Tickled – sheer peach-red
Dollface – sheer candy pink with touch of shimmer
Sunkissed – sheer bronze
Bronze Goddess – sheer bronze with shimmer (I think I need this one!)
Cloud 9 – sheer pink-lilac
Blissful – warm peachy-pink

And they also have their natural cheek stain in Natural Beauty, which is a sheer berry rose

Don’t forget, Tarte is still having their end of the year sale. They’ve got 20% off on all products at tarte.com and free shipping from Dec. 26-31st! The code is ENDSALE, which expires on Dec. 31, 2008.

Right now, Tarte has their ‘We Wish You Happines Mini Cheek Stain Set’ available, which comes in a gorgeous plush purple jeweled cases.
The colors in this set are
Merry – sheer candy pink
Delighted – shimmery rose-gold
Enchanted – shimmery pale-pink

This blush is a winner in my book!

Have you tried Tarte’s cheek stain?
What did you think of it?

I’m loving the way you look in this post–there’s something different about you but I can’t quite put my finger on it! Either way you’re looking fabulous!

I pursed my lips and was trying so hard not to laugh, I think the mirth shows in my eyes.

So pretty on you! I love tarte’s cheek stains as well, they lend natural color without looking powdery or too matte.

I think it must be the new camera, but you do look wonderful! Thanks for the great review.

I have a couple of cheek stains hidden in my makeup stash somewhere but still haven’t tried them. I love the flush you get from them – so pretty!

What kind of mineral foundation are you wearing in this picture and what color? My skin color is similar.

Hi Ashley, I believe I was wearing either:
    1. Meow's Purrfect Puss foundation in Inquisitive Siamese
    or
    2. Meow's Pampered Puss foundation in Inquisitive Sphynx
