Garden of Wisdom – Lite n’ Brite Serum & Go Away Scar Cream Review

I purchased and started using the Garden of Wisdom products back in February of this year (2009) at the recommendation of my friend Jen. It is now October of 2009 and I am sad to say that I didn’t get the results I desired, though I know a lot of people have had good results with these two products.

The problem: I have a hyper-pigmented spot on my chin from a nasty zit that I had during the summer of 2008.

I was using the Lite n’ Bright serum and the Go Away scar cream once to twice a day (I always tried for 2 but sometimes missed in the evenings) but didn’t really get the results I wanted. I couldn’t really see any change at the end of 7 months.

Lite n’ Bright serum
distilled water, seamollient, organic grape alcohol, wildberr extract, L-alpha arbutin, kojic acid, hyaluronic acid.
Price: $8.60 for sample size of .25 oz

Go Away Scar cream
dionized water, emu oil, red raspberry seed oil, polawax, emollient esters, galactoarabinan, seabuckthorn seed oil, helichrysum italicum essential oil, glycerin, allantoin, optiphen, azulene
Price: $6.05 for sample size of .25 oz

I couldn’t get the dark spot on my chin to lighten up and go away.

While the Samples of these products may seem expensive at first glance, they’re very generous sample sizes that will last you for quite a while if you’re only doing a small area like I was. I also like the ingredients in them. I do know that several other people have had good results with these products, I’m just not one of them. This did not irritate my sensitive skin.

If you’re wondering if I would recommend these products, I would say maybe. It’s a relatively inexpensive investment to purchase both of these to see if they’ll work on lightening your hyper-pigmentation. While it didn’t work for me, it may work for you because I know it has worked for other people out there. So for $15 plus shipping you could try this to see if it works for you.

The next products that I will be trying for this dark spot are:
1. chilled lemon slices
2. glycolic acid (though I’m worried that my skin will be WAY too sensitive for this)
3. Gluta-C skin lightening cream at the suggestion of Aileen of The Shades of U
4. Pearl Cream at the suggestion of the sweet guys at Fyrinnae

Have you ever had hyper pigmented spots on your face? What did you use to get rid of them?

I've been using GoW products since 2006 because of Jen too, but I wasn't that consistent so I also didn't get the results I wanted. I just hauled at the GoW website and testing out the products I have; I will be making some reviews soon. As for hyperpigmentation, I swear by Gluta-C skin lightening cream. I have a dark scar on my elbow, and after only 3 nights of use, it started to peel and really lighten. Here's the link:

Have you ever tried pearl cream? My partner swears by this:
http://www.veryasia.com/beexpecrg.html (which is one place he gets it ,too–great service there). It's pale yellow-cream like a concealer, and has fairly mild ingredients. There are many different brands & types though.

    Hi Aileen,
I'm looking forward to reading your reviews :)
I read a lot of reviews about the GOW stuff before I purchased, enough that I felt like the product does work for some people, just not for stubborn pigmentation like I have.
Thanks for linking me to the Gluta-C, I'll check it out.

    Hi Fyrinnae :)
    Pearl cream is for lightening?
I haven't heard of Pearl Cream but I'll check it out!
I definitely need to do something because it bugs me.

hmm.. i have since come to terms with dark colored scars. you might want to try vit-E or rosehip oil though. i've never tried them for too long myself since the oils will block my pores.

the next time my mum or DH goes to China i'll ask them to get me some pearl cream too. hah..

    Hi Suzieduck,
Hmm, my night moisturizer is the vitamin E intensive stuff from the Body Shop. Do you think a more direct form of vit-E would be better?

if your skin isn't oily and not prone to comedones you might want to use the oil directly. you can get them as supplements and then just pop a capsule and dab a little on the trouble spots. i also remember my mum once told me that you can also mix them into your moisteriser. concentration would depend on your preference.

    Hi Suzie,
    I'll go look for a vit-e capsule :)
