Medusa’s Makeup & Makeup Masala

Medusa’s Makeup & Makeup Masala

Monday’s Mail Call included something from Medusa’s Makeup and something from Makeup Masala. I made purchases from both of these companies.

Recently I ordered from Medusa’s Makeup because I wanted to try out their brush set. Their 5 piece brush set, which is regularly $35, was on sale for $25. That works out to $5 a brush, if I bought enough other things to get free shipping, which I did. They accidentally forgot to include one of my eye dusts, Purple Rain.

I called Medusa’s Makeup on the phone as soon as I opened the package and realized it was missing. They immediately answered the phone and said they’d send out one right away. In addition to that, they also sent me a clear lip gloss in Concious. I thought that was very nice customer service.

Medusa’s Makeup ships pretty fast, usually within the next business day that you place your order. I’ll have my review of their brushes up soon.

I also visit Makeup Masala on occasion, but had never purchased from their Makeup Mix Shop.

I finally decided to place an order because they have a set of ecoTools brushes (the 6 piece mini set) that I haven’t been able to find elsewhere to purchase. I also decided to pick up another e.l.f. C brush, because I really love this brush. And they had this Complexion brush that looked useful.

Masala ships super fast. They also tweet deals on twitter, as well as new items. In fact, they just tweeted that they have the new 6 piece eye brush set from ecotools, so I just snagged it. It comes with a large eye brush, angled crease brush, petite eye shading brush, highlighting brush, smudge brush and help & cotton case with mirror.

As you know, I LOVE my ecoTools brushes. I HIGHLY recommend them. They’re the most inexpensive and nice brushes I’ve ever come across. I definitely recommend ordering from the Makeup Mix Shop if you’re looking for ecoTools. Their shipping costs are inexpensive (my first order was $3.65, the order today was $2.53), and they ship things out lightning fast. They also answer their customer service emails very quickly.

In fact, it’s nice to be able to say that both Medusa’s Makeup and Makeup Masala give good customer service. It’s a refreshing change.

You should definitely give them a try :)

Today is the first day that I have been able to play with my Detrivore samples. I like! Detrivore definitely makes their own shades, and they have a nice mix of mattes and shimmers.

Pathos – a dark blue black
Swine – a pale pink
Bone – a flat white matte
Brine – a bright blue green aqua
Fuji – a red gloss with a bit of sparkle

Detrivore Pathos – outer vee and crease
Detrivore Swine – above Pathos in crease
Detrivore Bone – right under eyebrows and inner corners of eye
Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy – upper lash line
Detrivore Brine – on top of Pixie Epoxy on upper lash line and along lower lash line
Aromaleigh Lash Primer
Urban Decay Mascara in Flipside
Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Yeyo – lower water line

Cheeks:
Hard Candy Blush in Pinup

You can also see that I played with Photobucket’s ‘frames’ beta today.

I’m pretty happy with how my look turned out. I really like bright lining with colors like Brine.

Also, Pinup turned out to be really nice. So far I’ve liked both of my Hard Candy baked blushes.

Nubar Gold Leaf & Moon Shadow

Nubar Gold Leaf & Moon Shadow

I painted my nails with Nubar’s Gold Leaf for the main color, and put Nubar’s Moon Shadow on my ring fingers for accent.

Base coat – Color Club’s Milky White Base
2 coats of Gold Leaf on the main fingers
2 coats of Moon Shadow on the ring fingers
1 coat of China Glaze Fast Forward top coat

Gold Leaf was the first Nubar color I ever HAD to have. I also really like Moon Shadow and Peacock Feathers and Sour Candy.

Gold Leaf – a complex, shimmery color with copper, bronze and gold.
You can actually see a bit of burgundy from the side.
Moon Shadow – a deep shimmery burgundy-wine shade

I may change my accent to Peacock Feathers soon, which is a shimmery dark purple with a flash of deep teal green and gold.

All of these colors are gorgeous.

I recommend picking them up on ebay, though, as I didn’t like my experience buying through Nubar’s website.

An Update on Phaedra

An Update on Phaedra

So Phaedra, from all physical appearances, is stable. The vet took blood this morning and will be measuring her sodium to potassium ratio and her kidney enzymes. He’ll be getting back to me with those results in a day or two.

Now we have a dilemma. To test her for Addison’s Disease, she has to come off of the prednisone.

This could send her into a crisis state again. She almost died from the last one.

So we have to decrease her Prednisone to once a day and watch her to see if there is a decline in her condition.

The monday after thanksgiving we have a 9am appointment for the vet to check her blood again.
This will determine if her sodium level has dropped or if she’s stabilized.
If it seems stable, we’re to switch to every 2 or 3 days giving her a prednisone, until it’s gone.
And then we can give her the test.
The whole time, we have to watch to see if her demeanor changes.
If she’s depressed, no appetite, lethargic, she’s likely got Addison’s.

The options are:
A. She’s a type 1 that has to be treated with the DOCP shot & prednisone.
B.  She’s a type 2 or 3 and can be on prednisone or some other medication alone.
C. She doesn’t have Addison’s and just got into something toxic which upset her kidneys.

He says there’s still a chance that she just had a toxic reaction and that her kidneys dealing with the toxicity is what threw her electrolytes out of balance and caused her to be so ill.

So now I get to play a waiting game, for 2 weeks to a month. I can’t help but worry.
