Transition from Teal to Pink – Adventures in DIY Hair

Transition from Teal to Pink – Adventures in DIY Hair

I wanted to take the teal out of my hair and I finally did. I used a product that I’ve used several times in the past, One n’ Only Colorfix, found at Sally’s Beauty Supply.

While it says that it’s for permanent color, I’ve used it not only with permanent color, but also with semi-permanent hair color in the past.

I separated out the teal section from my hair, and applied the Colorflix. I put a cap on my head, and I used a blow dryer directly on my hair for 15 minutes. Then I washed it out. Since I ended up missing a few spots, I did it again, for another 15 minutes with heat. Then I washed my hair.

Next I applied Manic Panic’s Hot Hot Pink to my bangs. I foiled those sections of my hair up and out of the way.

Then I mixed the following shades together:
40% Jerome Russel Punky Plum
20% Manic Panic After Midnight
20% Manic Panic Ultra Violet
20% Manic Panic Purple Haze

I applied that mix to the rest of my hair. I covered my hair with a cap and left it on for 3.5 hours.

Here’s my hair directly after I washed the color out.

There were a few spots I missed, so I redid the pink and put it in foils, and redid the other piece of hair and put a cap on and then slept in it. I washed my hair and it looked a lot better this morning!

Now, the one thing about using One n’ Only, is the hair will darken slightly. You can see how mine did darken up a bit.

(First thing this morning after I did my makeup and styled my hair.)

(This is me after I got home and put on some darker lipstick.)

I’d love to hear what you think of my results :)

Aromaleigh Exclusive – New Lipsticks!

Aromaleigh Exclusive – New Lipsticks!

The lovely Kristen from Aromaleigh sent me some new lipsticks that will be coming out soon! Kristen let me know that she wanted to dip her toe into the more dramatic lipstick colors, but keep them wearable and multi-purpose so that they will have a broader appeal. They’re meant for layering, toning and enhancing lip shades. After experimenting with these lipsticks, I wholeheartedly agree with them being wearable and multi-purpose.

The colors are called Violetta, Mina and Elissabetta. I really like the names. They smell like chocolate, like the rest of Aromaleigh’s lipsticks, and I really love that.
These are my observations and color descriptions for the colors, not the official ones.
Violetta – sheer dark reddish purple

Mina – sheer black with silver sparkles
Elisabetta – deep sheer dark blue with silver sparkles

Violetta is my favorite, and it is reminiscent of Urban Decay’s Apocalypse. It’s a sheer red-based purple color and looks good on its own or with another lipstick. It is good to warm up a color. I also think that of the three, this is the most universally flattering shade.
This is Violetta with Nyx’s Deep Purple liner and MAC’s Dazzleglass in Jingle Jangle.
Mina is a sheer black, which will remind many of Urban Decay’s Oil Slick. This lipstick is very sheer on its own, but will look good layered on top of other lippies to darken them.

Elisabetta is a gorgeous sheer blue. This is good for cooling off a color.

I’m really excited by these new lipstick offers from Aromaleigh! I think that these are a great way to get into more dramatic lip products.

These shades will be offered as a part of the Bete Noire Lipsticks.

I would love to hear if you’re interested in trying these when they come out. What do you think of them?
