Monochromatic Greys

Yesterday I did a monochromatic white to black look based on a suggestion by Jasmine of High Voltage Cosmetics. I used Metamorphosis Cosmetics shades, High Voltage Shades, and the lovely Devil’s Bonfire from Evil Shades.

Eyes:
UDPP Eden
Metamorphosis Superstar – inner lid and later on browbone
Metamorphosis Narwhal Dreams – outer lid and crease
High Voltage Cloud 9 – outer 1/3 of lid and lower lash line
Evil Shades Devil’s Bonfire – lower crease
Gel Eyeliner in Raven – upper lash line
Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Zero – lower water line
Aromaleigh Lash Primer
Hard Candy Ginormous lashes – 2 coats
Urban Decay Brow Beaters pencil in Brunette Bombshell

Cheeks:
Medusa blush in Jezebel

Face:
Meow Pampered Puss foundation in Inquisitive Sphynx

Lips:
Aromaleigh Lipbalm in Yuzu
Nyx lipliner in Deep Purple
Revlon matte lipstick in Deep Wine
Soap n’ Glory gloss Sexy Motherpucker in Clear

Narwhal Dreams is a really pretty mid-tone grey shade that works well as an all over lid shade. Superstar is a nice sparkly white.

I haven’t done dark lips in a while, so I decided to go with Deep Wine. I couldn’t get very good pictures, which was frustrating, but otherwise I think it looks really cool :)

Your hair is looking gorgeous lately! Love the length, and its super shiny and healthy looking as well. The wine lips suit you as does the gorgeous gradient effect you achieved on your eyes.

    • Phyrra

Thank you Nina! I think it's looking so healthy because I'm only bleaching the bangs and the top section of my hair. The rest of it I don't bleach, though it still gets the vegetable dye over it. I'm glad you like the gradient effect! I felt like it didn't look quite right in the crease. I couldn't decide if I overblended or didn't blend enough.

    • Zoë Danger Awesome

wow! love your lips! that is a great color on you

    • Phyrra

Thank you! I love dark lips but haven't felt compelled to wear them for a while.

    • Nina

I think the crease looks quite good, were you uncertain of the results IRL or in the pics? I find shimmery shadows in the crease look way better in person than they do in photos so perhaps that is lending to your uncertainty? I find I have a better time with mattes in my crease, and shimmer everywhere else (lid, highlight) though this is probably due to the fact that I judge the results of my makeup from pics a lot of the time. Hmmmm, something to ponder. Regardless, I love your results. :)

    • marie

Your so good at blending your eyeshadows its a cool look :)

    • Phyrra

I think in person. I used a fiber optic brush with the black because I didn't want it to be too harsh, but then I felt like it didn't look quite dark enough in person or in the pix, but I still think it looked pretty. I like matte on the lid and shimmer on the crease, oddly enough! Thank you!

    • Retrodiva

I am absolutely obsessed with the color on the inner lids – is it a very light blue/gray? It makes your whole look absolutely pop!

    • Phyrra

Hi :) The inner V color is a white called Superstar, and the inner lid is a light grey called Narwhal Dreams.

    • RaeRae

Oooh I love this. I thought you definitely could have got away with more black in the outer corners, but then I saw the full face and I think the subtlety of the eyes works well with the dramatic lips. Beautiful blending either way. I've really been liking your looks lately (especially the green Sugarpill one!) but for some reason the comment form has only just come up now. So yeah… Sorry about that.

    • Lyndsey

I wasn't sure I was going to like it when I first heard the title, but this is gorgeous! Your application is spotless, just perfect. I love the texture or the look of the texture (I don't know how to describe it). Anyway, I love it!

    • MagicMaid

I'm with RaeRae in that I love the contrast of the monochrome eyes and that amazing color on your lips! It's perfect together. I think your blending of shades was superb on this and it makes me want to try something similar! I know you say that you practice with your blending all the time – I want to tell you it's definitely paying off, you do such wonderful combos. <3

I love this, monochromatic gray looks are fabulous! I like the look of those Metamorphosis shadows. I'm always on the look-out for good whites and grays.

    • SilhouetteScreams

This is stunning! Your blending is superb and it looks great when matched with those vampy lips :)

    • Phyrra

I think Intense Debate is really flaky at times :( It doesn't work with IE 6 and I'm still waiting for tech support from the ID people. Glad you like them though ;)

    • Phyrra

      Aww thank you!

    • Phyrra

Thanks! It certainly helps to know that it shows :) I think that black, grey and white can look very elegant at times.

    • Phyrra

      Cool :)

    • Phyrra

      Thank you :)

    • Solstice Scents

This look is right up my (personal wearing) alley/comfort zone. Looks fantastic and I LOVE the dark lips on you! Also your skin is ridiculously flawless – how about a post on how the heck you achieve THAT?! lol

    • @MetaCosmetics

YAY you finally used some of the ones I sent you :D I love Superstar myself, it's one of my favorites. So pretty.

    • BLIX

Gorgeous! LOVE the lips. Like juicy black cherries.

    • @MetaCosmetics

:D I'm about to put all my shades on sale for 8.00 a piece as a matter of fact. We're still setting up the main page and I'm mid jar supplier switchover so it's faster to find all of the shades on our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Metamorphosis-Cosme… under the album 'product photos'

    • Phyrra

Ooh good! I was going to ask because I've received a few emails about this.

    • Phyrra

I've been experimenting, but I'll be happy to post what I've been using lately. The best things I can recommend are The Body Shop's Vitamin C Skin Boost and Lush's Angels on Bare Skin.

    • Phyrra

I really love Narwhal Dreams. It's a fantastic grey that would work for subtle looks, too.

    • Phyrra

      Aww thank you!

    • Kawaiiferreto

This looks awesome. I've been wanting to try a grey look but wasn't sure how to approach it. Maybe I will test out a variation of this! The lip color you chose is perfect with it too, not to mention it really coordinates fabulously with your hair color.. I love it!

    • @MetaCosmetics

Send them to the FB link, please, I am going to do an overall clearance sale and once these are gone, I won't be remaking these colors except by request. I have some changes in store for the company, Larger jars and some experimenting with new products :D

    • Phyrra

If you wanna give me the exact FB link, I will put it in my blog post here :)

    • Phyrra

Aww thank you! I really like light greys on the lid with darker in the crease because it opens up the eyes on me.

    • Fabienne

WOW, MetaCosmetics colors look great! I cannot wait to get to my samples :)

    • Phyrra

So far I've liked what I tried :)
