Morgana Minerals Review

As you all know, I absolutely love Morgana Minerals. They were my second Indie Spotlight. I realized that I’ve never written up a review about them, even though I constantly rave about their lipsticks.

Morgana’s site is adorably gothic and she carries a variety of products. You can purchase indelible cream eye shadows or gel  liners, hard to find hair dye, vegan brushes and some other products from the site.

However, I suggest you start with her eye shadows, and end with her lipsticks.

Eye Shadows

The eye shadows are very nice in quality. There’s a variety of textures and finishes. They apply well, are very pigmented and blend easily. The colors last all day, especially if you use primer like I do. There’s even several price points.

You can get a sample for $1.
You can get a 5 gram jar for $5.
You can get a refill for the 5 gram jar (I really like this option) for $4.75.
You can get a 10 gram jar for $8.
You can get a 10 gram refill for $7.75.

My favorites are: Coraline, Druscilla’s Sister, Intense Turquoise Glow, Aqua Stars, Glitter Ghoul, Transylania Twist, Potion, Zombie Ambrosia, Broomstick, Bewitches, Harken and North Pole.

I’ve done a variety of looks with the shadows.

Druscilla’s Sister & Coraline

Druscilla’s Sister, Zaria, Witch’s Wine, Intense Turquoise Glow

Harken, Twinkling Cherrine

Intense Turquoise Glow, Fantasy Nouveaux, Galantha, Aqua Stars

North Pole, Silver Bells, Davy Jones’ Locker, Snowball’s Chance

Broomstick, Coraline, Druscilla’s Sister, Intense Turquoise Glow

Broomstick, Glitter Ghoul, Transylvanian Twist

Bewitches, Potion, Intense Turquoise Glow

Glitter
Morgana has a variety of glitter in some fabulous mixes.

It’s $4.25 for 4 grams in a jar or $1 for a 1 gram sample. And trust me, her sample glitters are quite generous.

Particular favorites of miine are Teal Twist and Berryful.

Foundation
Morgana Minerals has several goth appropriate foundation shades. My favorite is the pale blue.

It’s $2 for a sample or $12 for a 25 gram jar.

While having pale blue foundation can be really cool, you can also use it to color correct over orange tones

Lipsticks
Morgana makes the most amazing lipsticks. They come in a variety of non-standard colors. They’re moisturizing, they’re easy to apply, they stay around well and they smell nice.

It’s $.50 for a sample or $10 for a full size.

Here’s me wearing some so you can see what I mean.

Ice Queen

Coraline’s Kiss

Azalea

Azalea blotted

Spellbound

Pumpkineater

Gargoyle

Overall, I love Morgana Minerals. I love their lipsticks especially, but I also love their eye shadows. I think their prices are definitely reasonable for their products. Additionally, they offer several different sizes for you to buy, which not a lot of places do.

The customer service you will receive from Melissa is awesome. She always answers emails and charges a fair amount for shipping.

I wholeheartedly recommend Morgana Minerals, especially if you’re looking for unusual and bright lipstick shades. And very soon, Melissa of Morgana will be adding lip glosses!

Morgana is one of the only companies that refund shipping if it turns out that shipping my package costs less than expected. I think that's amazing customer service. The products are really great as well. I have a couple of the brushes and I love them.

how long do the lipsticks last? i rarely wear lipsticks because they always disappear and look silly after about an hour, but i'd be all over them if they stayed put for a night out. =)

  20. Phyrra March 5, 2010 at 5:33 pm #

For me they will last several hours. There are several tricks you can use to get lipsticks to last longer. 1. make sure you exfoliate your lips with a sugar scrub 2. moisturize your lips and let it sink in for about 15 mins 3. blot off any excess moisture 4. use a lipstick primer (I have one from Urban Decay as well as Aromaleigh) 5. use a lipliner and fill in lips 6. apply lipstick, then blot 7. you can then apply and blot again Though what I tend to do most days is: 1. exfoliate 2. moisturize 3. apply lipliner 4. apply lipstick I only do the longer set above if I'm going out and want it to last all night.

I’m really interested in buying some lipsticks from Morgana, but the problem is that I’m half-Asian and have yellow undertones. >.>
Anyway, since you have some and have worn them and know how they look in real life and stuff, I was wondering if you thought any of the ones you’ve tried would bring out yellow undertones. I know it’s a weird question, but I don’t want to shell out 10 bucks plus shipping on something that makes me look jaundiced. >.<

You might wanna email Melissa of Morgana directly to ask her which shades to avoid. I have some yellow undertones in my skin, but they’re not primary, so it’s hard for me to guess. I would imagine that Azalea, Azalea Blue, and Raspberry would be ok, but I’d still ask Melissa.
