TKB Pops vs. Shiro Cosmetics

As there were some questions brought up regarding Shiro Cosmetics and TKB Pops, I decided to order the rest of the Pops that I was missing and swatch the colors side by side for you. As an added bonus, I picked up a few other colors to play with to meet the minimum order requirement from TKB.

My order from TKB.

Here are my thoughts.
The colors are NOT repackaged.

Team Rocket is more of a red-based purple than Grape Pop.
Lance the Dragon Trainer, Zubat and MewTwo look nothing like Grape Pop.
Bulbasaur is a deeper green than Apple Green Pop.
Acid is more of a yellow-green-gold while Apple green pop is a lighter grass green.
Tangerine Pop is deeper and slightly oranger than Charmander. Charmander is more yellow-gold than Tangerine Pop. This is probably the closest color to a TKB Pop.
Pikachu is a more intense yellow with red and what might be some gold sparkles, where as Lemon Drop Pop is a lighter yellow.
Mew is a pale strawberry color, paler and softer than both Strawberry Pop and Raspberry pop.
Squirtle is more of an aqua-lagoon blue, whereas Blueberry Pop is a vivid primary color blue.
S.S. Anne is a chocolate mocha based beige brown shade, whereas Glimmer Beige is a golden yellow beige. This color is in the same color family as Glimmer Beige, but not the same.

What do you think of Shiro Cosmetics? I like them.

Thanks so much for the comparisons, Phyrra! The time and effort is greatly appreciated. ^_^ I'm actually really, really surprised at the similarity between S. S. Anne and Glimmer Beige, as I didn't even use any Glimmer Beige in that formulation. I didn't know it existed before you swatched it. How bizarre…

    • Phyrra

The colors look similar but not identical. Hopefully from my swatches you can see how chocolately based S.S. Anne looks while Glimmer Beige is more uhm, yellow-beige :) You're quite welcome on the comparisons!

    • EvilAngel

It just goes to show that similarities do not mean dupes. There are sooooo many colors in the world, we are all bound to inadvertantly match another exsiting shade at some point. From the first pictures they appeared origional and quite nice to me, and I'm a competitor so I tend to scrutinize much more carefully. I love the names too, so cute.

    • gothchiq

So as to the application…smoothness, coverage, staying power blabla, you are liking them then? The colors do appeal to me.

    • Phyrra

They're smooth, apply easily, blended easily. I use a primer of course, and they lasted all day with TFSI. I'm loving them :)

    • Jessica

I second what EvilAngel said- there's really nothing new under then sun. No matter how unique you try to be creating colors, in the end you're going to end up with similar shades somewhere along the line. As a blogger, I'm beginning to find it a bit exasperating that I have to verify and test every mineral line I get my hands on, just to make sure I'm not recommending an unsavory product to my readers. Sometimes I'd like to be able to just play with a pretty color… But good to know there's another line that someone I trust trusts herself- thanks P!

    • Phyrra

Yeah it does kind of make me sad that we have to test, but, it also gives peace of mind to people. Thankfully I find swatching fun :)

    • Silhouettex

I think theyre similar enough that I dont feel I need them (since I have the TKB pops) but I still want SS Anne and maybe a couple others :)

    • Jade

Can't wait til I can place my order! :)

    • Phyrra

I'd recommend S.S. Anne & Squirtle. I REALLY like those two!

    • Phyrra

      What'cha gonna get?

    • Mika_chan

Wow I'm even more interested in Shiro now! Acid looks like an amazing green.

    • Lillian

I really want to try some of these, i just love the names and the colours look so pretty. They are obviously not just repackaged :)

    • @whimsybeading

This is so pathetic of me, but I want someone, somewhere to put all the “Travel To” TKB colors into a good base so I can wear them without having to do a lot of prep first.

    • thecandiedmango

I love the label on TKB Echo.

    • Megan

She's got some really pretty colors. Thanks for the comparison.

    • Phyrra

It's really pretty :) It's in that fun golden-yellow-green category.

    • Phyrra

I really adore the names too!

    • Phyrra

It's not pathetic! A few companies have done that with the iridescent highlight colors, which I really love.

    • Phyrra

      Yeah that's hilarious!

    • Phyrra

      You're welcome!

    • Serena

I love shiro and I haven't even ordered yet. I have to wait until my birthday to order… I think it is cool that the owner is being up front about what she uses on her website. And her products aren't way overpriced either! I'm not sure what I'm going to get..Probably S.S.Anne, Hyper Beam and Team Rocket in full sizes. Samples of Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle and Pikachu. I can't resist the Pokemon names!

    • Alexis

Oh great picks for your tkb order. I love echo and travel to neptune as inner corner and brow bone highlights. With those colors I also use a black liner on my bottom lash line and apply the color on top and its duo-chrome heaven. I really wanted to like libra blues but it was far too chalky (with primer and a base) I think i might have to make it a nail polish as to not waste it. Id love to see what you can come up with for the colors.

    • Phyrra

Hehe, I think they're really cute as well!

    • Phyrra

I'm not sure what I'll end up doing with them. Probably play around and mix up some colors :)
