I went to Ulta tonight, always a dangerous thing for me. I needed a new blow dryer (I’ve had the same one for almost 10 years, which tells you how often I blow dry my hair :P) and I needed a curling iron. I’ve been failing at styling my hair with my flat iron. By the way, if you print out a coupon from Ulta’s website, they will honor it in store.
I spoke to the sales assistants at Ulta and they recommended the Conair Infiniti Cord Keeper blow dryer, and the Hot Tools 1.5″ gold curling iron. Hopefully they’ll work well. I also got a thermal 2.25″ brush.
I picked up a set of black hair clips with little rhinestones on them, as well as a black & grey ponytail holder set.
I picked up a container of Flamingo Pink Punky Color Dye for Phaedra, too.
I also nabbed Physicians Formula Healthy Wear SPF 50 tinted moisturizer, and Covergirl Liquiline Blast pencils in Blue Boom & Silver Spark. Blue Boom is nice but Silver Spark has really captivated me. It’s got gorgeous little sparkles in it. I’ll be doing a review of the tinted moisturizer.
Then I went to CVS. From there I picked up Maybelline The Falsies Mascara to try out, as well as another of my favorite Cover Girl LashBlast Fusion Mascara, and Milani’s Molten Rock & Hot Metal Nail polishes. Finally, I grabbed some cotton rounds.
I swatched Silver Spark & Blue Boom for you. As you may know from my review of Green Glow, I really love these pencils. I’m very impressed with them. They’re definitely worth purchasing.
Seriously, Silver Spark is even more beautiful than it looks in the swatches. Blue Boom is slightly less aqua and more of a royal blue. It actually reminds me of MAC Freshwater.
Oooh the eyeliners look gorgeous!
They’re really pretty!
Eeep, I know I’m late to this post (was on vacation) and see you grabbed the Physican’s formula! I grabbed it while on vacation in Ivory to Fair (I think that’s the lightest?) and tried it out. Good things first: creamy and applied easily with fingers, blended well, and didn’t feel like I was wearing a mask. The bad: Holy shit it was soooo dark! It looked like I was wearing really bad fake tanner that yellowed me out and dropped me several shades darker. It didn’t even come close to matching and looked horrible when compared to my neck, arms, chest, face without it….sooo sad! I eagerly await your review and what color you grabbed.
I grabbed the Ivory to Fair and had mixed results. I’ve only worn it twice, so I need to try it a few more ways.
1. too dark
2. not moisturizing enough
I put Snow Lynx over it one time and Inquisitive Siamese over it another time and I was able to make it work. So I think it’s probably workable.
I need to try it with using a different moisturizer first then putting it on. It just didn’t really moisturize my skin enough.
I don’t get why drugstore makeup is so dark
Seriously! Why is it so dark?!
I couldn’t even get to the point where I thought it was ok to put something on top. I applied it, showed my mom and she went “Oh that looks horrible! You’re yellow and have a fake tan! Wash it off!” and she normally doesn’t have much of an opinion one way or another when it comes to my makeup…so….yeah.
I agree with you on the moisturizing part. It’s not as “drying” feeling as neutrogena dry touch sunblock (spt 70), which leaves my skin ravaged feeling by the end of the day. But maybe wouldn’t hold up much better. The kicker is that I was in a moist VA at the time of testing, and have since come home to a dry OK (drying floodwaters aside) and my skin went from moist and plump to dry and crinkly.
Just saw you have a proper review on the front page, so I’m off to read it!
I WISH I knew why the heck this was so dark!
The mark dark chocolate and blueberries SPF 30 moisturizer is really nice and moisturizing if you want to give that a try.
