Recently I was contacted by Misikko and asked if I wanted to review their Corioliss Tri Curl Curling Iron. To give you a little backstory on Misikko, because I was curious and asked, the company was recently purchased by new owners about a year ago and turned it into a family-owned and operated business. I told them I would be happy to, especially since I’d been looking at a similar curling iron style.

I actually really like the name Corioliss for a curling iron, since it references the Coriolis effect or Coriolis force. It’s really a clever name! The curling iron arrived in a hard box container (at the top of the picture above), and came with 3 interchangeable barrels and a heat protectant glove, as well as a heat protectant pouch. The three barrel sizes are 19mm, 25mm and 32mm.
As you can tell from the photos, this is a clipless curling iron. For me, this meant that there was quite a learning curve to using the curling iron. While I had been looking at a very similar style curling iron, I thought the clipless style would be very easy to use, and it actually takes a bit of practice to get used to. ( I found this video helpful).
While the glove that comes with the curling iron is a heat protectant glove, I wish that it came in a slightly shorter length because the tips of the fingers in the glove left some extra space which made it a bit more difficult for me. I also found myself wishing that I had two gloves, because I kept having to switch the glove from one hand to another. However, I think with more practice I should be able to do less switching.
Ok, on to the barrels. After switching out the barrels the first time, they changed out a bit easier. I really love the three different sizes, because you can use them to accomplish different things. The large barrel I used to mostly just neaten up my hair. The medium barrel I used to give loose wave. The small barrel I used to create small curls.

The curling iron heats up fast. Like, in 30 seconds or so it’s hot enough to use. I love this feature because I HATE waiting for anything to heat up. This means I really can touch up my hair and be ready to walk out the door in 5 minutes.
I’m still learning to use the curling iron properly, but you can see some cute small curls on me here:

I have to say that I am impressed with this curling iron. I really like getting 3 in one, even if it takes some time to get used to. It seems like Misikko has a variety of other curling irons, and in fact they have my Hot Tools Pro Spring Curling Iron
Now, I paid about $40 for my Hot Tools Pro curling iron from Ulta. I don’t believe the quality of the one I bought is as good as the quality of the Corioliss Tri Curl Curling Iron. That said, it seems like the curling iron I was sent to review is regularly priced at $300, and is currently on sale for $174.99. For the cost of the set, you get the 3 barrels, the curling iron, the gloves, and a heat proof travel pouch.
Overall, I was really impressed with the clipless curling iron.
Pros:
I love the interchangeable barrels. This means I can have less tools in my bathroom taking up space. I’m all for that.
I do like the glove, even if it is a bit big for my hand size.
I love how fast the tool heats up. I hate having to wait around for things to get hot.
It’s got a normal dual voltage plug, so it’s easy to plug in for use anywhere.
The barrel is non-stick. It’s easy to wrap the hair around the barrel and then gently remove the barrel.
It’s ceramic heating, so it should heat quickly and evenly. From my experience with it, this is the case.
The on and off button is easy to use, and it is easy to turn the temperature up and down.
Cons:
The original price of $300 is way out of my price range. The sale price of $174.99 is more affordable for since that works out to about $58 a barrel. It also currently has free shipping.
The learning curve. Now, it’s possible that since I’ve had mostly short hair and mostly worked with flat irons the past decade that it has just taken me longer than average to become used to using a clipless curling iron. Still, the learniing curve was a bit steep for me, and I’m still practicing with it.
I do feel like a pair of gloves should be included to make it easier.
Would I recommend the Corioliss Tri Curl Curling Iron?
Yes, I would, if you’re looking for a quality high end curling iron. The fact that this is a 3 in one really works for me, as I find it immensely useful. If you’re new to the clipless style, be prepared for it to take a bit of time to get better at curling your hair. Watch a few videos. They really helped me.

Hello Cotton
It looks, very obviously, like a nice, high-end styling tool. Seems, from what you said, that it delivers. That heating up fast is a plus in my books too.

The heating up fast thing is SO AMAZING, especially compared to my other curling iron and flat irons.
I hate feeling like such a novice with working with the iron though, since it lacks a clip. Because I know it gets so hot, I’m still hesitant to touch it with the glove, so I always do so gingerly.
You could try to get one of those Ove Gloves from Walgreens for the other hand.
I think I would like this type of curling iron but this one is out of my price range too.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll have to look for the glove.
I look at it like this, if I was going to purchase 3 separate curling irons in different sizes (and for the record, when I was in high school, I think I had 4 or 5 different sizes of curling irons for different purposes, so I really can see me purchasing 3), I’d probably end up paying about that total altogether for 3. Or, I’d do what I did with my Clarisonic Mia, and wait until there’s an amazing sale.
Completely off subject, but I just think you look SO pretty with your dark hair and brows. You’re just striking <3

Thank you so much Dominique! <3
One of the mall vendors was trying to sell me the large barrel one for $90 as his lowest price. I wish the set of 3 was $130.
Ouch! That’s high for being at the mall. Maybe keep an eye on the site to see if they go on a deeper sale?
