Mattes by Morgana Minerals – A Preview

Morgana Minerals is releasing a new collection of mattes in the near future. I was sent some of them to preview. Melissa of Morgana is planning on adding a vegan version of Bloody Mary from the Halloween collection, as well as a few other shades. She plans on making more mattes if there is enough interest.

On to the swatches!

Shade Descriptions:
Buttercream –  rich lemon yellow
Blush – peach with a hint of rose
Apricot – deep peach
Bistre –  medium-dark brown
Graphite – charcoal grey with a blue tone.
Black Spot – opaque black from the Shimmer Me Timbers collection – reformulated to a finer texture. Best for lining or with a primer for shadow.
Barely Lilac – semi-sheer pastel with a slight pink tone.
Grape – vivid purple
Brick – warm red
Teal – muted blue toned green
Snowsheen – opaque white

The colors I like the best are Teal, Graphite, Bistre and Grape. I’m sure it’s no surprise that I like Teal and Grape!

I also really like Barely Lilac, Buttercream, Snow Sheen, Black Spot and Apricot.

The mattes seem to be nicely blended and they applied easily on primer, rather than skipping the way some mattes can do.

I was surprised to like Bistre, both for its name and its hue. I’m thinking of wearing it with Barely Lilac.

What do you think of the mattes from Morgana Minerals?

Do you see any colors you like or you want to try?

Those look really nice, especially for mattes! I can see Apricot looking fabulous with Grape or Teal.

It’s always a pleasant surprise to me when mattes are easy to work with, instead of difficult, chalky and streaky.

I’m always happy when mineral companies have plenty of mattes, I hear they’re hard to formulate than shimmery shades. Apricot looks like it would make a nice blush; Butter Cream and Brick are right up my street.

Mattes are definitely harder than shimmers to formulate, from my understanding.

Yay matte! Most of the colors look like they’d be too heavily pigmented for my skin, but I’m really liking snowsheen. :D

Remember, I always swatch on primer (in this case Aromaleigh Light Primer) with a Q-tip (cotton swab) and I do try to get the colors to show up. So they can probably be applied more sheerly.

I think so too! I kept being surprised by how easily they applied.

I like the look of these! I may have to wait on purchasing fullsize, though, until I have some other expenses taken care of. I’m liking Apricot, Blush, and Teal!
