Concrete Minerals Swatches

I wanted to swatch my Concrete Minerals colors as I recently purchased some new ones with their Blogger/Youtube Sample set. I really like the majority of the colors that I’ve purchased from Concrete Minerals. I first reviewed CM in March of 2010 and have continued to purchase from them since. The following swatches are on Aromaleigh Light Primer.

My Thoughts on the Colors:
Ruse is a lovely metallic deep bronze
Arsenic looks a bit like Orly’s Galaxy Girl nail polish, with its blue sparks in the red-brown-plum base.
Sabotage is a black with pink-fuchsia sparkles.
Bang-up is a vivid blue with little gold sparks.
Nocturne is a sparkly deep dark green.
Detox is a light minty green with silver sparkle.
Mad Hatter is a plummy purple.
Kismet isn’t a bright pink to me, more like a mid-tone pink with gold shimmer.
Lolita is a taupe with a pink shift, sort of like a duochrome.
Prude is a pale pink, perfect for a highlighter.
Ether is a deep dark grey.
Seance is an awesome deep purple with a blue-violet iridescence.
Wicked is a mid-tone purple with a strong aquamarine duochrome.
Chroma is a light lavender with aqua sparks.
Souljourner is a deep midnight blue with tiny copper sparks.
Temptress is a saturated deep teal with gold sparks. I’d love to see a version of this with silver sparks or blackened iridescence.
Zealous is a pretty, pigmented turquoise.
Juvenile is an acid green. I could never get the turquoise sparkle to show up in this. I always wondered if the aqua sparkle from Croma or the Aquamarine shift from Wicked could make the turquoise more visible in Zealous.

Official Shade Descriptions:
Juvenile – acid green with turquoise sparkle
Zealous – vibrant turquoise
Temptress – dark teal with gold sparkle
Souljourner – midnight blue with copper sparkle
Croma – shimmery lavender wiht aqua sparkle

I will continue to purchase from Concrete Minerals as I feel that they’re continuously improving their eye shadows and I feel like they give a great amount of product for the price. You receive a 10 gram container of product for $5.99 They often sell trios of shadows for $14.99 which are 10 grams each. They also have several other specials available here.

So how about you?  Do you like Concrete Minerals?

I love CM! My favorites are Napalm, Juvenile, Temptress and Bang Up. I have other shades but I don’t wear them as often and I’m looking forward to trying more.

Juvenile disappointed me only in that I couldn’t see the turquoise sparkle, but otherwise it’s a lovely color. Temptress is really pretty, and a lot of people love Bang-Up for being such a bright blue.

I grabbed the review kit as well but my choices kind of sucked. I don’t want to give a “meh” review because of that so I may have to get a few more just to double check. I grabbed Lolita (the one I liked) Vegas (golden yellow but nothing unique) Deviant and Harlequin. I should have gotten lighter colours to start. They may even be getting pissed I haven’t reviewed yet :( I just don’t wanna be a grumpy grumperson if there really are some nice unique shades in there!

I think you need Ruse! Ruse is gorgeous! Lolita is DEFINITELY something special! I think Wicked, Arsenic, Mad Hatter are all shades you might like. You might like Detox too. I wouldn’t have tried Arsenic or Nocturne on my own but I think they’re really nice.

After reading both Grey’s follow up, I had to give CM a try. My order should arrive next week or so (I live in Argentina and shipping takes ages). I also picked their primer. Could you believe that there are NO PRIMERS in my country? :o

Smut, I’m waiting for you! :)

    • Phyrra October 3, 2010 at 10:21 am #

Oh my goodness! There are no primers in Argentina? I would think with the weather being warmer there you’d have them!

The Concrete Minerals primer is a good one :) I hope that you will like it!

I hope your order arrives soon!

I love CM! :) I think I need Bang Up, Ruse and Arsenic judging from your swatches.

How do you think Prude compares to Crystal Avalanche? Like is it a lot warmer and pinker? I want a pinky highlighter shade but only if it’s significantly different :)

Ruse is awesome! ok, Prude is a light light pink. It’s definitely pinker. I think it’s very different from Crystal Avalanche.

Phyrra, I just ordered their Blogger set too & I can’t wait to get them. I’ve been wanting to order them for a while since seeing you use them in EOTDs & on Grey’s recommendation also. I think their colors are something special & will also review as soon as I receive!!
