Fusion Sweets – A Tasty Review

Recently I recommended Fusion Sweets in my Holiday Gift Guide Part 2. I would be remiss if I hadn’t placed an order! I had it on good authority from Ana that their sweets were fantastic. So she helped me select a few flavors to try.

I chose an 8 piece sampler.

The 8 piece sampler was $9.99, and $5.95 for shipping. I placed my order on Nov. 11 and received it on Nov. 22. And yes, within 24 hours I’d sampled (had at least 1/4 of each flavor, because I shared them all with Ray & Dave, too :) ) all of my samples, except for the free samples, which were Black Sesame, Masala Chai & Some Like It Hot Thai Habanero.

The flavors I chose were:
Belgian Dark Chocolate (2) – rich decadent sea salt caramels mixed with pure Belgian chocolate liquor
Sweet & Creamy Vanilla Butter Caramel - smooth and rich with sweet cream and sprinkled with crunchy vanilla beans
French Lavender Vanilla & Honey with Sea Salt
Vegan Lemon Ginger - freshly grated lemon zest and peeled fresh ginger are steeped in organic cream and wonderful savory salted butter and sea salt
Pumpkin Pie – delicious homemade pumpkin pie filling blended into salted butter caramels. Fresh pumpkins, honey, lemon juice, nutmeg, ginger and cinnamon
Rose, Orange Blossom Vanilla – organic roses and orange blossoms together with organic vanilla beans from Papua New Guinea scent delicious rich organic cream that forms the base for our Brittany style caramels.
Spiced Apple Cider

French Lavender Vanilla & Honey with Sea Salt – This was ok. I REALLY liked the sea salt in it, wasn’t so fond of the lavender. I tried it because I like the Dagoba Blueberries & Lavender chocolate bar. The lavender was too strong for me in this, though I think if you like lavender you will love it. I would rather have the Sweet & Creamy Vanilla Butter with Sea Salt.

Vegan Lemon Ginger – This was interesting! It was a bit… grittier than I expected but the flavor was very unusual and nice.

Pumpkin Pie – This was awesome! The flavoring works perfectly with caramel.

Spiced Apple Cider - This wasn’t as good as the Pumpkin Pie, but it was still a nice fall caramel.

Sweet & Creamy Vanilla Butter Caramel – This was fantastic! I think it could only be improved upon by adding sea salt :)

Rose, Orange Blossom and Vanilla – This is REALLY unusual but I liked it. The orange blossom really comes through with a hint of rose, but it doesn’t taste like you’re eating flowers.

Belgian Dark Chocolate – Nummy dark chocolate. What more can I say other than yum!

The flavors I would re-order would be:
Sweet & Creamy Vanilla Butter
Vegan Lemon Ginger
Pumpkin Pie
Rose, Orange Blossom & Vanilla

Would I order again?
Yes, I definitely would :) I really think they’re a nice treat for a special occasion!

When I think of lavender, I don’t associate it with food. It’s more of a relaxing scent to me, so I probably wouldn’t try that caramel. But oh, the dark chocolate! Om nom nom! And the pumpkin pie sounds delish too :)

I hate the scent of lavender myself. It always induces a headache, but I’ve been lured into trying it in food with varying degrees of success.

Chewy toffees, although very soft, but not at all flakey or firm like fudge.

I needed a translation, too, ’cause “caramels” isn’t a thing here.

        Yes, very soft and tasty.

I was just about to purchase their 8 piece sampler when I noticed the total came to $20! The sampler is 9.99 and shipped is a little over $10.. I’m not one to go more than $15-$16 for sweets otherwise I end up feeling guilty..

hm, looks like they doubled their shipping costs. That’s too bad. When I ordered it was $5.95 for the 8 piece sampler.
