Very recently I was contacted by Belén of Lost in Makeupland and asked if I would be willing to try out her new makeup line. I told her I’d be delighted, so she sent me samples of all her colors, as well as a few larger sizes. Belén is from Spain, one of the few European countries that I’ve been lucky enough to visit and love. She made me giggle when she contacted me because she said that her products were not repackaged and that “I don’t believe in unicorns!” so I couldn’t help but smile!
While she only has about 17 eye shadows right now, she’s currently working on more. Most, but not all, of her eye shadows are vegan.
Her samples are $1 and her full sizes are $5.99 in a 5 gram jar with a sifter. If you don’t want a sifter, it’s $6.25 for a full jar. Her shipping costs in Spain are $2.50, whereas everywhere else is $3.95.
The swatches I have for you are with my new daybulb, recommended to me by the lovely Ana of Lipsticks & Lightsabers. These are the first swatches I’ve ever taken where I’ve never had to adjust the color settings, they just came out the way they were supposed to!
Row 1 Weed – Purrrple – Guns n’ Roses – Oh my, it’s Black
Row 2 Bioshock – Party – Smurf – Whipped -
Row 3 Bruised – Go!! – Ink Bubble – Goomer (mislabeled this on accident)
Row 4 Good Morning – Expensive – Tan – Not Too Much
Shade Descriptions:
Weed – bright green. V
Smurf – gorgeous blue leaning turquoise. V
Bioshock – deep dark green with flashes of silver and purple. V
Tan – bright bronze. V
Purrrple – a pretty purple with sparkle
Bruised – brown base with purple and burgundy leanings. V
Go!! – mauve with lavender blue shift
Goomer (mistyped as Gooner) – shimmery light bubblegum pink mauve
Ink Bubbles – bright fuchsia
Good Morning – a bright beautiful orange with subtle pink and turquoise shimmer
Not Too Much – brick red with subtle silver sparkle. V
Guns n’ Roses – gun powder with a touch of pink
Expensive – satiny gold. V
Party – electric blue with multi-color glitter
Oh my, it’s Black! – a semi-matte black
Whipped (test color) – shimmery white
Good Morning is a very pretty soft orange shade, but I don’t see the turquoise or pink shimmer in it.

I really like the shade Guns n’ Roses. I can just see a touch of baby pink around the edges.

Smurf and Party are both gorgeous blues.
Go reminds me a lot of UD’s Asphyxia, so I really like it.
Ink Bubble is an odd name for a fuchsia to me, but I do think it’s a lovely soft fuchsia.
Bioshock is a nice deeper green shade and Weed is a good grass green.
Purrrple is a really pretty purple, too.
The eye shadows are satiny with some shimmer in texture which I find nice. I found that they applied easily over my Aromaleigh Light Primer. They’ve got good pigmentation. I need to try wearing them to be able to tell you about their blendability for looks, but I definitely had no problems applying them to swatch.
I think they’re a great start from a new company.
What do you think of Lost in Makeupland?
What do you think of the swatches?
PR samples were sent to me for consideration.

Hello Cotton
Hmm I wonder why it costs more without a sifter, in all of my experiences with companies it typically costs more with!

I believe it costs more without a sifter because she’s filling it up with more product.
Hi! Exactly, as Phyrra and Eplefe said, it costs more because the jar goes filled up with product. Sifters take quite a lot of room so I like to give my customers the chance to choose how much product they want to receive.

Hi! Can you please tell us what the daybulb is and where you purchased? I am looking for better lighting for my makeup area since my place has few windows. Thanks so much!
It’s an ecosmart 60 watt equivalent daylight bulb. I purchased it at Home Depot. It’s supposed to have a 9 year warranty with 10,000 life in hours and only 14 energy used in watts. It says it has 800 light output in lumens.
Probably because there’s room for more makeup in the jar when removing the sifter.

I think this is exactly right!
I hope this doesn’t sound like bootlicking…
I first ran across this company on a blog whose endorsement I don’t trust at all. (I’m sorry, but when you’re gushing about how awesome and unique your free PR makeup is when it’s repacked mica from an ethically dubious company, I don’t trust you to know what the hell you’re writing about. I had a nice, frothy rant on Twitter about it the other day.) Now that Lost in Makeupland has your poodle-shaped stamp of approval, I’m willing to give it a second chance!

I don’t necessarily feel like it’s all unique, but I feel like it’s not repackaged. The colors have a nice base and a nice finish from what I can tell. I like that satiny finish most of the shades have. A few are more glittery, like Guns n’ Roses and Purrrple. Bioshock is a fairly unique green from my experience, but I’m still growing my green collection.
Thank you for your faith in me and the poodle
Hi!! With so many wonderful indie companies out there, some of them with hundreds of different shades, I find it quite hard to be unique nowadays and very few people can claim all they do is (I have to say though that I’m quite proud of Bioshock
I love it, it’s a green I’ve always looked for and never found). That said, I mix colors until I get a result I like and try to get different finishes and textures, both in the color mix itself (some micas have bigger particle sizes, other are finer, by adding glitter…) and with formulas.
I’m completely against repackaging and would never do it, I don’t find that a honest way to rule a mineral makeup company and am also a MMU customer to other companies and the last thing I want to find when I buy something is that it is repackaged.
I know my swatches aren’t very accurate (I find Phyrra’s are great though, I’ll have to get myself a daylight bulb asap) but every one of my eyeshadows contain a minimum of 3 colors mixed (with the exception of Oh my, it’s BLACK! which contains 2 pigments + base).
Tempestina, if there is any of my shades you feel might be repackaged or have any doubts, I’ll be happy to answer them or even pass you a list of the pigments and ingredients used (without quantities of course)
Belen, I wasn’t saying that I thought *your* shades were repackaged, but the blog I saw your stuff on had positive reviews of questionable companies, so I didn’t know *from that* whether yours were the real deal or not. (In fact, if I weren’t on a no-buy right now, I would’ve already ordered a pound of Bioshock & Ink Bubble.) However, Phyrra is knowledgeable and thorough, so I put stock in her recommendation. I’m fairly stingy and I’ve been burned by repackers in the past, so I try to do a lot of research before I put any money towards cosmetics. I hope you didn’t think I was accusing you of repackaging!
As for uniqueness, I appreciate interesting colors and try not to buy any that look too much like ones I already own, but honestly, the human eye can only see so much. There’s gonna be crossover from companies big & small. At that point, the formula becomes the deciding factor for me.
Tempest recently shared..An Indie Cosmetic Consumer’s Primer Lesson Two
I didn’t think you were, buy just wanted to clarify in case anyone thought so, so there’s no doubt about my company, I understand the scam alarm turns on easily after so many repackagers and one doesn’t trust a lot of stuff (I always check people like Phyrra before buying anything online because of that, I’m still regretting each and every Facefront Cosmetics shade I’ve bought for example).
Expect an email from me through the day
Tempestina I can’t find a way to contact you

Looks promising! I like the look of Guns n’ Roses

Me too. I like the hint of pink in it.
I quite like that shade, it’s really versatile, lately I’ve been experimenting with it as liner with lovely results, with a vivid pink eyeshadow (I wish I owned SP Dollipop but my Ink Bubbles works well too
)
It’s interesting!! thanks for swatching!!
