Nubar Gold Leaf

I was inspired last night by the lovely G of Nouveau Cheap to paint my tips. She had blogged about Nailtini Janie Bryant Limited Edition Nail Lacquers and the color Bourbon Satin caught my attention. So I grabbed Nubar’s Gold Leaf polish to paint my nails.

I used China Glaze’s Cowgirl Up as my accent color.
Gold Leaf is a gorgeous gold duochrome with brown-burgundy, to me. This makes Cowgirl Up compliment the shade nicely.

What do you think? Have you been inspired by someone lately? If so, please share :)

Yes it is! You can probably still grab it online at Transdesign or head2toe beauty or 8ty8beauty.
      That whole collection was gorgeous.

i really need to get more Nubar shades- I only have one, an awesome holographic green…now that I think of it, I think I’ll use it tonight! BTW, any idea how close this is to the MAC Villain shade “Bad Fairy”?

I don’t think it’s close at all. All the pictures I’ve seen of Bad Fairy have it being a magenta gold. Temptalia describes it as ruby red, molten lava copper, and gold. All Lacquered Up did a great comparison of Bad Fairy to The Show Must Go On.

I wanted to get my hands on Bad Fairy but it was sold out everywhere. I have the dupes though, from Orly’s collection.

I like Nubar but I hate ordering from them directly. Their customer service sucks, they rip you off with shipping costs, etc. I have had good luck ordering from a seller on ebay, but I haven’t ordered any in a long time.
Gold Leaf is described as copper bronze and gold, and it is pretty but it really does lack the red of Bad Fairy yet you can see like a burgundy shade around the edges that I find matches with Cowgirl Up nicely.
Peacock Feathers is a gorgeous shade with dark purple, flashes of deep teal green and gold.
Moon Shadow is a deep shimmery burgundy wine.
Sour Candy is a teal-tinted top coat with large and small pieces of teal and silver glitter. It’s a great way to add instant bling to your mani.
Those are the 4 I tried, and I think I sold Moon Shadow. Can’t remember if I still have Peacock Feathers or not.

OMG, this shade looks gorgeous on you! I’m so glad I could inspire you–you inspire me *all* the time to step out of my earthtone comfort zone and wear more colorful shades on my eyes. :) xo

Thank you G! I’m glad I can inspire you :) I’m doubly glad you inspired me with those gorgeous polishes.

Well, YOU’ve inspired me to pick a gold for my next mani. I went to my salon today for a pedi – my nail tech of 7+ years does a much better job than I do, and gotta keep the economy going, right? – and came back with Opi Diva of Geneva on my toes.

I love Nubar’s colors but I have had bad customer service experiences with them.
