Boots No. 7 Advanced Hydration Day Cream Review

I accidentally ran out of my favorite daytime moisturizer with SPF. Since I needed something on my face, I ran to Target and picked up Boots No. 7 Advanced Hydration Day Cream to give it a try since I’d liked the Boots No. 7 Radiant Glow Concealer.

Read on to see what I think!

The Website Claims:
24 hour moisturization
Enriching combination of ceramide complex and pro-vitamin B5 satisfies your skin’s thirst for moisture
Soothing cream makes dry skin softer and smoothe
Inclusive sunscreen SPF 12 offers vital protection from the elements
Treat yourself to the full Boots product line to pamper your skin and enrich your spirit

The ingredients are:
Active: Avobenzone (3%), Octinoxate (5%), Other: Water, Butylene Glycol, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Glycerin, Glycerin Stearate, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Paraffinum Liquidum (Mineral Oil), Peg-100 Stearate, C18-36 Acid Glycol Ester, Phenoxyethanol, Mica, Carbomer, Sodium Pca, Panthenol, Methylparaben, Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate, Fragrance, Potassium Hydroxide, Propylparaben, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Tetrasodium Edta, Ceramide 3, Ceramide 6 II, Phytosphingosine, Cholesterol, Bht, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Hydroxide, Ceramide 1, Titanium Dioxide

Price:
$14.99 for 1.69 fl oz.

I liked the fact that this claims to offer 24 hour moisturization, but I’m not sure that my skin still felt moisturized after I removed my makeup at the end of the day. At least, I felt like I needed to put on moisturizer afterwards.

Unfortunately, the SPF on this is 12, which is way too low for me for daytime use as I prefer my SPF 30 or higher. The jar packaging is sucky, as I hate having to stick my fingers in a jar to get out product. I’ve moved from merely disliking jars to hating jars. I definitely prefer a squeeze tube or pump to a nasty jar.

Would I purchase again?
No. SPF 12 is too low for me for daily use. I did feel like it did a good job of moisturizing on my skin, and it didn’t cause me to break out. The price isn’t bad at $14.99 for 1.69 fl.oz (I pay about $16 for my 1.7 oz of moisturizer).

Have you tried this moisturizer? If so, what did you think? Are you on the hating jar packaging bandwagon that I’m on?

Product was purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

I bought a jarred moisturizer from c. Booth and transferred it into an aluminum pump bottle I picked up from one of my suppliers; I HATE the thought of sticking my fingers into a water-based lotion over and over again, and it’s even worse when it’s multiple people using the same product, YUCK! I’ve had too many lotions turn on me because of this (literally turned, bad smell, texture change, ick) and had begun buying bottle-only products, till it dawned on me that I could just grab a couple of pump bottles with my orders for other stuff and make anything into a bottled product as needed ;)

Yeah that’s what I hate about jars, they go bad and they’re so icky to stick my fingers in.

This was my daily moisturizer for about two years. I really liked the way it felt, but my oily skin has gotten worse, so I switched to DDF’s oil control product.

It seems like it moisturizes well, but I really hate the low SPF. It’s cool you liked it . How does the oil control work?
