I stumbled across Face Candy Couture recently while reading pretty Wendi’s blog, of Makeup Zombie. So I popped over to the Face Candy Couture’s site and saw that they offer free samples. The only ‘catch’ for free samples is to follow the company on Twitter and ‘Like’ them on facebook. I think this is an ingenious idea! So I followed the instructions on the website to get 5 free samples.
The site is easy to navigate and I like the website design itself. It’s a clean, bright design with a white background. The price is $4.99 for 1.2 grams of product in a 5 gram jar. The ingredients are Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide, Tin Dioxide. Each individual color does list its ingredients on the website. Shopping on the site is relatively easy. Colors are broken up into color families, which I like. Shipping on the site appears to be $2 for 2 shadows.
The company is created and run by Shantle, who has a love of photography and makeup. Speaking of photography, for the first 5 colors I tried, the swatches are all accurate or very close to what I see on my computer monitor. The exception for me was Clarissa, which was more intense and prettier than I expected. The shade descriptions all match pretty well, too. This impressed me!
The sample baggies are tiny, but they should provide enough for one application and be enough for you to tell whether or not you will like a color.
The first 5 colors I tried were: Sabrina, Leaves, Smurfette, Golden Moon and Clarissa. I swatched these on Aromaleigh Light Primer and used a cotton swab to apply the color.
Sabrina – a darker lime green with golden iridescent undertones.
This is a really pretty yellow-green chartreuse shade to me, with a golden sheen.
Leaves – deep green with golden undertones.
This shade reminded me an army green, almost. The deep green shade definitely has a golden sheen to it.
Smurfette – a fun bright blue.
To me this is a bright aqua blue shade, very similar indeed to the Smurf’s skintone. It has a pearlescent, almost silvery quality to me.
Golden Moon – a vintage deep yellow golden color.
This is a really pretty gold shade that seems to have a touch of copper to it.
Clarissa – a yummy deep purple with soft pink shimmer.
This is an intense, vivid purple with pink sparks and sheen.
I have to say, when I see the names Sabrina and Clarissa I think of Melissa Joan Hart who played Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Clarissa Explains It All.
I was also sent 6 additional colors from Face Candy Couture to sample.
Shade Descriptions:
Babycakes – a yummy golden shimmery yellow
Sweet Innocence – a stunning light soft peachy pink color with an iridescent undertone
Cinnamon Swirl – a soft tannish peach color almost a pretty champagne with a shimmery undertone
Wonder – a deep plum purple pink shimmer sparkles
Olive Lust – an amazing deep green color just like an olive
Blue Lightning – a vintage looking deep blue, with an iridescent shimmer background
My thoughts on these colors:
Babycakes is a yellow that leans orange with gold shimmer
Sweet innocence is gorgeous, very much a duochrome.
Cinnamon Swirl is brown with strong gold duochrome.
Wonder is a reddish brown with shimmer.
Olive Lust is a gorgeous complex green with golden shimme
Blue Lightning is a really pretty blue with iridescent, leaning slightly gold, shimmer.
Sweet Innocence and Cinnamon Swirl had some amazing duochrome action going on. Babycakes is quite the saturated yellow that I think those who love yellow will crave.
Of the shades I tried, my favorites are:
Sabrina, Leaves, Smurfette, Golden Moon, Clarissa and Blue Lightning
Sabrina on the inner lid, Leaves on the outer lid, Clarissa in the crease.

I need to try wearing Cinnamon swirl. It’s so surprisingly pretty to me.
I did take advantage of their free sample program a couple of weeks ago and I thought the colors I received were lovely. Sudden and Sweet Deuce were the only ones I kept though, I just have so many colors now that I get a lot of duplicates from different brands. I did a little giveaway to raise awareness of the brand and I gave the link to the free sample program, so hopefully a lot more people will be giving FCC a try!
I really love the branding for this company as well, it’s so much more polished than a lot of the new indy MMU companies. I think Shantle has a great business plan and I hope it works out for her!

How does Cinnamon Swirl compare to TKB’s Chameleon?
I don’t have TKB Chameleon, but I have the Aromaleigh Pure Hues version Coco Mauve. Coco Mauve is a deeper darker reddish brown with green reflect. This is a pale tan shade gold/champagne reflect.
This is such a great look! You did a wonderful job with this one! Reminds me of a zombie pin up girl. Tre’ Cool! What a great start for this brand.. and such a cute logo too!
