Sugared Rose

This look turned out exactly the way I had envisioned it in my head. This one wasn’t quite right, though it was interesting. This one was the best of my previous attempts. This one was ok. This was basically me practicing a more neutral look with a matte crease and browbone, and a bit of shimmer on the lid. I think it’s flattering and it will work for when I need a more ‘office chic’ type look.

Eyes:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Fyrinnae Rapunzel Had Extensions – inner lid
Fyrinnae Sugar Skulls – outer lid and outer lower lash line and outer v
MAC Blanc Type – on browbone to highlight, blended downward, on lower water line and inner corners of eye
Too Faced Peach Fuzz – inner lower lash line
MAC Copperplate – crease
Stila Smudge Pot in Black – to line upper lash line
Hard Candy 1000 Lashes Primer
Flirt! It Curls Mascara in Bombshell Black
Avon Glimmersticks Brow Pencil in Soft Black – to define brows

Face:
L’Oreal Studio Secrets Perfecting Base Primer
Boots No.7 Radiant Glow Concealer in 1
Hard Candy Welcome Matte Mattifying Powder – applied all over with fiber optic brush
Meow Purrfect Puss foundation – applied lightly to red spots with a fiber optic brush to even out skintone
Hard Candy Moon Glow Lumizing Powder – applied all over with a fiber optic brush

Cheeks:
Too Faced Blush Duo in Pink Provocateur

Lips:
Stila Lip Pencil in Red – to line and fill in lips lightly
Avon 24k Gold lipstick in Golden Rose

Step By Step
1. Apply eye shadow primer.
2. Apply Blanc Type on browbone, blending downward. I used a big ecotools blending brush.
3. Apply Copperplate to crease. I used a fiber optic pointed crease brush and did a windshield wiper motion, really trying to lightly diffuse the color up onto the browbone.
4. Blend the edges of Copperplate. I used a big ecoTools blending brush.
5. Apply Rapunzel Had Extensions to the inner lid. I used an ecoTools shade brush.
6. Apply Sugar Skulls to the outer lid and blend inward. I used an ecoTools shade brush.
7. Taking the same brush that I had used to apply Rapunzel Had Extensions I blended the edge of Rapunzel Had Extensions and Sugar Skulls.
8. Apply Peach Fuzz to inner lower lash line. I used a chisel detail brush.
9. Define brows with brow pencil.
10. Apply Black Smudge Pot to upper lash line. I used a Sonia Kashuk bent eyeliner brush.
11. Apply Blanc Type to lower water line and inner corners of eye. I used a mini chisel detail brush.
12. Apply lash primer.
13. Apply mascara.

This is really pretty! I need both of those Fyrinnae shades.
I’ve really been into rose lately. It’s very festive without being the typical gold or silver metallics used this time of year.

Aw, this is a really pretty look despite your vivid and wild looks you normally do – I really like it, it’s a nice wee change.

Just a note, but I’ve been kinda sorta (different brands) copying this combo for the past 2 days and loving it. You are always such an inspiration.

Aww thank you! I really loved how the colors blended seamlessly because of the golden shimmer on the lid.

This is very nice! I always have to search for “office-appropriate” makeup. What the heck is the big deal if I wear bright blue eyeshadow anyways?! :)

    • Phyrra December 23, 2010 at 12:31 am #

I know, it’s strange that some people get all up in arms about it! It’s like the people who complain about bright nail polish!

Makes me think of a slightly foggy tropical sunset. Rachel says it exactly right!

The blush looks soooo natural here, like you’re not really wearing any. (and the hair clip is too cute!)

  11. Nicole December 21, 2010 at 9:38 pm #

Wow, I LOVE this on you! I really like the idea of sparkly on the lid and matte above, it works so well here.
I also want to mention since we were talking about it today – your skin looks amazing! I know you’re going lightly with your foundation and I can see that that is all you need, super pretty.

    • Phyrra December 23, 2010 at 12:34 am #

Thank you so much! I’m using a fiber optic brush and applying just the lightest touch to my nose, forehead, cheeks and chin to try and even me out. I first apply the face primer, then I apply the matte powder with a fiber optic brush all over, then I apply the foundation, and then I apply a finishing powder.

I am really happy with how my skin is looking :)

MAC copperplate looks so sophisticated.it’s so versatile as well!

I’m now lemming to get the Avon 24k lipstick in Golden Rose. Any idea if I can get it at Walmart/Rite Aid/Target etc? I may be going to Orlando this coming April with my husband and 4y/o daughter. So pls recommend all the gd places to snag makeup!

Sorry to rant about this on your beauty post..but I’m just so excited about the thought of Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Discovery Cove and Magic Kingdom!!*Geez LOL!*

    • Phyrra December 23, 2010 at 12:40 am #

Copperplate is such an underrated color. I got it because it was a matte grey and I thought it would look good with a bright aqua lid. Turns out it’s also perfect on me for a more ‘natural’ look, as it works well with my skintone. I really love it.

As far as I know you can only buy Avon lipsticks from Avon.com or an Avon lady.

And Yay for Orlando! I tell ya, I love going to the Disney parks. They’re all fun.
