Recently I purchased the Vincent Longo eyeliner duo in Blue Jay from Hautelook because I liked the two colors in the eyeliner duo. I’d never tried a Vincent Longo eyeliner before.
The Website Claims:
*Smudge resistant and long wearing.
*Glide-on application prevents tugging of delicate eye tissue.
*Creamy texture and rich pigment blend easily to give maximum definition and shape to eyes.
*Sharpens to a fine point without breakage.
*Suitable for eyes of all ages.
The website also tells you a tip for application: use the darker shade to define your eyes, use the lighter shade at the inner corners of the eye to brighten them up.
Ingredients:
Hydrogenated Coco-Glycerides Trioctanoin Cera Alba Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate Dipentaerythrity/Tetrahydroxystearste/Tetraisostearate Carnauba Ozokerite Polymethylmethacrylate Propylparaben Lecithin Tocopherol Ascorbyl Palmitate Glyceryl Stearate Glyceryl Oleate Citric Acid May Contain CI 77499 CI 77019 (mica) CI 77492 CI 77491 CI 77891 CI 42090 CI 77007 CI 77510 CI 75470
Color I purchased:
Blue Jay (Navy Blue & Pink)
Price:
$26 though I purchased it at Hautelook for $15.05 ($9.10 + $5.95 for shipping)
What I thought:
The pencil tip crumbled very easily. When I was trying to swatch the pencil, both sides crumbled on me. The color applied very unevenly on me. The pencil does not live up to its claims of:
Sharpens to a fine point without breakage.
Smudge resistant and long wearing.
Glide-on application prevents tugging of delicate eye tissue.
It did blend ok once I could get it on, but it was frustrating that I couldn’t get it to apply evenly. Since both pencil tips broke, it was disappointing. The pencil was not smudge resistant and long wearing on me. I didn’t feel like it was possible for it to glide-on during application since it wouldn’t apply evenly.
Would I purchase again?
Probably not. While I really like the colors of the pencil duo I purchased, I HATED the fact that it did not live up to its claim of ‘sharpens to a fine point without breakage.’ It seems to me that for what is a higher-end pencil, since it normally retails for $26, it shouldn’t break when I try to use it. My MAC pencils and Urban Decay pencils do not tend to crumble in this fashion. Overall, I was very disappointed in this product.
Have you tried Vincent Longo’s eyeliner duos?
Product was purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

Hello Cotton
Wow, that’s disappointing that it didn’t work how it said it would! I’ve never heard of this company, but I definitely won’t be purchasing from them.
I do think the name is cute though– “Blue” and “Jay”!
I’ve got some good products from this company, too, which is why this was so surprising and disappointing.
You drew the blue end of the pencil in the shape of a heart!!!
The colors are pretty, but how disappointing of the quality….
Yeah I drrew both colors into a heart
And yeah the quality of this pencil was really disappointing. I’m glad I didn’t pay full price.
How sweet if you not to point fingers at the nincompoop that suggested you try this! ::mecoughsorrycough::
I really am shocked at how badly these performed for you! I have 2 of these liners, including this Blue Jay, and I haven’t had any of the issues you did. I do find the pencils a little on the dry side, but mine are quite old (seriously, I bought them before Lily was born, and she’s turning 3 on Saturday!) Even with their age, mine go on MUCH smoother than yours do.
I actually just jumped out of bed & sharpened all 4 sides of my pencils to see if the crumbling was an issue, and I did notice the blue side of the BlueJay pencil was a tad wonky, but even then, it applied fine.
I really think you must have gotten very old product, or perhaps your shipment got stuck on a freezing truck for a few days; the disparity between what you got & what I have is so great. Of course, like I said, mine are 3+ years old, so the formula could have been changed too…
Even still, though I like my Longo liners well enough, I do think their ultra-prestige price tag is unwarranted. I got mine around 75% off, and at that price they’re worth it, but at full price I wouldn’t look twice.
It worked really well for you, so not your fault! A freezing truck is more likely
I haven’t tried their pencils, but I did buy an eyeshadow from VL and I wasn’t impressed. I felt it performed like a cheaper drug store brand…doesn’t apply evenly at all.
I like the Jay color, and I’ll probably look for something close to it from another brand, because it never occurred to me before.

I have to say the eye shadow trios are really nice. I’ve got a review coming up on them. I haven’t tried a single eyeshadow.
I picked up a white one when Sephora had them on sale, I think there was some sort of free gift with purchase that I really wanted, so I was looking for something cheap to buy to warrant it.
It is too opaque to use on my browbone, and very matte, doesn’t apply evenly. I keep thinking I’ll find some way to use it, but for now it is just sitting in a drawer with a mini single of Sephora brand that I use occasionally, and a million samples from Aromaleigh and Archetype that I use all the time.
I was surprised to like the Sephora brand more than the VL. Has a slight sheen to it, but not sparkly, and goes on with the right amount of sheer/opacity. I got it in my VIB birthday gift this year along with an eye pencil that I never use, and a mascara mini that was just awful.

What’s the sephora color called?
Aspen Summit, I think. It is a white, with no special effects. I always feel weird wearing a bright, opaque white on my browbone, but this one is a bit softer and blendable like whoa.

I think i may have got that with my birthday set too, gotta see if i can dig it out, don’t think i’ve ever used it. Cool!
