5 Things

1. What’s on your tips & toes?
My tips and toes match for once. I have Orly Butterflies on both, with Zoya Bijou layered on top. Perfect, gorgeous coral nails.

2. What colors have you dyed your hair?
Red, black, burgundy, orange, fuchsia, magenta, purple, blue, teal, blue-black… I think that covers it.

3. What’s the most risqué body modification you’ve ever done?
I think getting my labret (lip) piercing was the most risqué body modification that I’ve done. I have been told it ‘ruined’ my clean cut image. However, I find it adorable.

4. What’s the book or game you’re most excited about right now?
I’m most excited about Pale Demon by Kim Harrison. I’m currently reading it.

5. What’s something you’ve had to ‘eat crow’ on? (eat crow means eat your words)
I think I’m going to have to ‘eat crow’ on my eye creams post. Since I’ve had some very bad allergic reactions, plus bad allergies and problems with my eyes, the only way I’ve been able to make my eyes stop freaking out is with shea butter and a very gentle eye cream. I bought the eye cream as a last resort, so I think I’m going to have to eat crow and change my opinion on the necessity of eye creams. I now think that while some people can certainly use a great moisturizer on face and eyes, that sometimes eyes need extra TLC. While I can still use my beloved daytime moisturizer with SPF on my eyes with no problem, they definitely need extra moisture and protection right now.

    • daintynymph

You’ve had a rainbow of hair, and the labret piercing is what ruined your clean cut image? The piercing must have been first.

      • Phyrra

Yeah I thought it was strange. Since I tend to prefer a tiny piece of jewelry there, too, I was surprised, but some people think anything beyond ears is bad.

    • Marci

      1. What’s on your tips & toes?
I finally tried “water marbling” with some Sally Hansen colors and I have to say it was really fun and came out pretty well.

      2. What colors have you dyed your hair?
Blonde, Red, Brown…and most recently Magenta highlights!

      3. What’s the most risqué body modification you’ve ever done?
I have a nose piercing and I used to have a monroe but I took it out. I have 16 tattoos so that is probably the most risque.

      4. What’s the book or game you’re most excited about right now?
I just recently started playing Left 4 Dead on my friend’s Xbox 360 and its awesome!

      5. What’s something you’ve had to eat crow on?
Nothing really comes to mind but I’m sure there have been a bunch of things.

      • Phyrra

Oh I would love to try water marbling! How neat!

    • http://fiercenerditude.blogspot.com/ Vijaya

      1. What’s on your tips and toes?
      Nothing, for once.

      2. What colors have you dyed your hair?
Pink, red, purple. It’s currently fuchsia.

      3. What’s the most risqué body modification you’ve ever done?
Belly button piercing? Does vajazzling count? I haven’t done it yet but a friend of mine really wants to go get it done together. xP

      4. What’s the book or game you’re most excited about right now?
Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded. I don’t have it yet, but I will!

      5. What’s something you’ve had to eat crow on?
The Sephora by OPI polishes sucking (maybe)? I’ve had a few really bad experienced but I’m posting reviews for the Glee polishes I bought soon, and they’re all pretty good. The problem is, I’m not sure if it’s just these polishes that are good or if I’ve just had horrible luck in the past.

      • Phyrra

Yay for fuchsia! Fuchsia makes me happy.

OMG If you Vajazzle, please blog about the experience! I’m dying to know.

I’ll have to go peek at the Kingdom Hearts game.

Oh wow, you know, I’m not sure about the Sephora Opi polishes.

    • http://www.queencicada.com Luna

      1. What’s on your tips & toes?
Zoya Yummy on my fingers, Zoya Southbeach Ice on my toes

      2. What colors have you dyed your hair?
I think I’m running out of colours! I’ve done red, orange, blonde, pink, yellow, lavender, violet, lilac, blue, copper, and just about everything in between. Possibly the only colour I haven’t done is green.

      3. What’s the most risqué body modification you’ve ever done?
Probably the lily I had tattooed on my upper thigh. It’s not my only, but the location probably makes it a little “risqué”…

      4. What’s the book or game you’re most excited about right now?
I just bought the latest Melissa Marr book, so I’m pretty excited to read that.

      5. What’s something you’ve had to eat crow on?
Gotta say, I have never heard that expression before! I’m not sure, honestly. When I was younger, I insisted blush was superfluous which I obviously don’t think anymore, but I wouldn’t say I ate my words. Just made more of an educated decision.

      • Phyrra

I’ve never done just green, either.

Oooh neat place for a tatto :)

Darkest Mercy? It’s on my ‘to read list’ as I LOVE that series!

It’s a very odd expression, and it just seemed appropriate since I went off on a bit of a tirade in December about eye creams and then I ended up REALLY needing them.

    • Jenny Whiskey

      1. What’s on your tips & toes?
Inque Leopard Print on the nails and POP! Tomato Red on the toes.

      2. What colors have you dyed your hair?
Blonde, black, blue, various reds, purple, pink, orange, Multi, etc. For the past 8 years I’ve stuck to different reds and occasional highlights.

      3. What’s the most risqué body modification you’ve ever done?
I’ve got “F*ck Off” tattooed on my lower back , my band name on the inside of my lower lip and a kazoo with a banner that says “blow me”. For some reason, all of the “provacative” tattoos I have were all done for FREE. That’s probably how I was talked into them!

      4. What’s the book or game you’re most excited about right now?
I’ve got a stack of unloved books. I need to catch up on my own stash before I even CONSIDER checking any new ones out.

      5. What’s something you’ve had to eat crow on?

Talking Smack on Wet N Wild products. Sure I love their cream liner, but I always though their shadows were crap, as well as the lipsticks. Then I started seeing their palettes getting reviewd, and was like WTF? But yeah…after dropping $.99 on a 3 shadow palette I am a WnW convert!

      • Phyrra

I keep forgetting to try and either make my own inque or order some.

        Reds are great :)

At some point, I’ve got to try a golden blonde.

Ooh, who is your favorite author?

Yeah, the new palettes from WnW (and lipsticks too, I hear) are fab.

        • Jenny Whiskey

You really should! I’m making a custom set for a friend who sold me a car for an extremely reasonable price. They just pay for themselve in compliments alone!

Favorite Authors…Well right now I’m all over the place Genre wise, and am reading a combo of historical biographies, Zombie apocalypse type books, memoirs and some things that would fall in the fantasy category.

But overall, i loooove Neil Gaiman, almost anything by Anne Rice, the Sookie Stackhouse novels are quick entertaining reads, and David Sedaris when I just want to laugh my ass off.

Man, after I tried one WnW palette I was like…”why haven’t I found you sooner!!!”. I keep hearing great things about the MEga Last lipsticks, but none of my local drugstores seem to carry them. It really bummed me out that I didn’t send some for Grey’s IMS swap because I know they aren’t widely available elsewhere and people would love them!

          • Phyrra

When I was trying to make some before, I couldn’t get the image I uploaded to work properly. I’d wanted to do little poodles :P

I’ve read most of Anne Rice, though not anything she’s released in the past few years, and I love Charlaine Harris.

I haven’t tried the new WnW lipsticks but I need to.

    • http://echosidestyle.blogspot.com Jen

Aw, I think the piercing is cute! Clean cut, schmean cut! Or something… Haha, have a happy friday!

    • Sara

Pale Demon was *awesome* I spent an entire day just hanging out to read it and it didn’t disappoint. :)

And I don’t think your labret ruins a “clean-cut” image at all. In fact, I would think your hair makes you more alternative/eclectic looking. Besides, you never seem to dress trashy (in your blog photos anyway :p) so am I missing something?

      • Phyrra

Usually what you see me in on my blog is what I wear to work. I tend to dress casual for work unless I need to dress up. So I have solid colored tees or t-shirts with prints that I like, khakis or chinos or jeans or cotton pants, and sandals or my running shoes most days.

It’s funny, everyone prefers the blue hair on me, presumably because it looks mostly black from a distance.

I’m about 50% of the way through Pale Demon and loving every bit of it. Glad to see I’m not alone in my love!

        • Sara

Nope, not alone in the Kim Harrison love. I’ve been reading her books for….jesus, a while now. I remember taking Every Which Way but Dead to jury duty right after it was released. Nothing passes the time faster. :p I was happy to see when you added her blog to your blogroll. i check it out every day.

I *love* your blue hair! It just looks so…”you”, you know? And now after hearing your wardrobe I’m totally confused about the snark concerning your labret. Ah well, some people…. *rolleyes*

          • Phyrra

            Thank you :)
Yeah, strangely enough, no matter where I go, I always get complimented on my hair, no matter what color it is.

    • sarah

      1. After I get home from dyeing my client’s hair, I’m going to re-paint my nails with OPI’s Simply Smashing.

      2. EVERY COLOR. Literally. At least twice each. It’s been brown (2), red (8), green (3), blue (4), purple (6), pink (5), black (on and off for about three years), and even orange and yellow. Currently it’s platinum but when it gets a bit longer, maybe after the summer, I’m going to dye it gray, like a really pale silver. I think it’ll be cool!

      3. I used to have my lip pierced but it rejected so I don’t have it anymore. I’m getting my septum done next winter after my allergies die down again, though, and taking my nose stud out.

      4. I’m eagerly awaiting the next Gail Carriger novel- what can I say, her steampunk style really drew me in! I also need to get the last two Laurell K. Hamilton novels and the new one coming out this summer.

      5. Well… I used to go around saying I’d never be a blonde again. See how well that worked out?

      • Phyrra

Doh! It can take a long time for some piercings to heal. My lip healed relatively quickly, but my nose and my upper ear piercings probably took at least 6 months each.

Hehe! I bet your blonde looks fab.

    • Joey

      1. What’s on your tips & toes?
Nada! I am in desperate need of a manicure and pedicure =(

      2. What colors have you dyed your hair?
My hair has been every color imaginable but green and orange. I’ve even been blonde! That only lasted half an hour, though.

      3. What’s the most risqué body modification you’ve ever done?
My industrial in my right ear!

      4. What’s the book or game you’re most excited about right now?
The new Nars “Makeup Your Mind” book. I also want the Turin/Sanchez “Perfume” book =)

      5. What’s something you’ve had to eat crow on?
Oh god…my whole “I hate blue eyeshadow” phase that lasted three years. Now I LOVE blue eyeshadow!!

      • Phyrra

Oooh! Let me know how the perfume book turns out?

And yeah, blue eye shadow is fab!

    • http://notmakingitup.net ndrcvrngl

      1. What’s on your tips & toes? Nothing on my tips (job interview this morning), and i have Chanel’s Dragon on my tootsies!
      2. What colors have you dyed your hair? Burgundy, black, blue-black, a very horrid platinum blond at one time… Have had streaks of purple, blue and fire engine red
      3. What’s the most risqué body modification you’ve ever done? mmm, just my tattoos, I guess. I used to have my eyebrow, tongue and nose pierced, but took them all out when I was preggo, they irritated the heck out of me, and i never bothered to get them re-pierced or put jewelry back in.
      4. What’s the book or game you’re most excited about right now? I just finished up the Hunger Games trilogy, and I really enjoyed them.
      5. What’s something you’ve had to eat crow on? I can’t think of anything I’d publicly announce, but there’s plenty of times that I’ve had to do it about little things. My pride is certainly my downfall!

      • Phyrra

Fire engine red is fun :)

    • Emily

      1. What’s on your tips & toes?
Nothing on toes. A dark grey from the Icing on fingers
      2. What colors have you dyed your hair?
Dark brown, reds, fuschia pink, darkish magenta pink, black, violet purple(my all-time fave), green and blue
      3. What’s the most risqué body modification you’ve ever done?
I guess that would be my large floral half-sleeve tattoo on my shoulder/upper arm
      4. What’s the book or game you’re most excited about right now?
I don’t “game” and I’m mostly reading non-fiction these days so I’m not really excited about any of that stuff. BUT, I am really excited for the new X-men movie to come out! lol
      5. What’s something you’ve had to eat crow on?
When I first started getting into more natural beauty products, I got sucked into Aveda for a long time and would swear by it to everyone. I wish I could take that back now that I know some of the things that I do. I’m not much of a fan of Estee Lauder and it’s affiliated brands anymore for a lot of reasons, one of the big ones being “pinkwashing”.

      • Phyrra

The dark grey sounds nice! I always find it difficult to find the perfect grey polish.

The X-Men movie looks great! I’m also looking forward to Red Riding Hood with Amanda Seyfried.

        • Emily

I got the dark grey polish on clearance at Icing last week. It’s a matte actually, but I just put a top coat over it to make it look normal.

I’m excited for the Red Riding Hood movie too! I love dark fairy tales:-)

          • Phyrra

            Same here!

    • http://www.lillianfunnyface.blogspot.com Lillian

      1. I have China Glaze Moulin Rouge on my fingernails, nothing on the toenails. I NEVER paint my toesnails as I never have my feet out :P Let alone have matching colours like you!

      2. Deep red, bright red, ginger, purple, teal, light pink, hot pink, baby blue, bright blue, navy blue, bleached, black, yellow, orange, bright green, dark green, brownish (black hair faded), magenta and various combinations of the above.

      3. The only thing I have is pierced ears. I like other piercings and mods on others but don’t like the idea of it on me. Also I am a complete wimp and can’t cope with pain at all!

      4. Pokemon Black and White! :D I’m a pokemon fiend.

      5. I can’t think of anything, but I’m sure there’s tonnes.

      • Phyrra

        Yay for Pokemon!

    • http://www.the-beauty-spot.net Rach

      1. What’s on your tips & toes?

Orly Space Cadet and Bare Toes!

      2. What colors have you dyed your hair?

Lots! Blue, Red, etc but at the mo its like a cherry red/brown

Hmm none really got v.close to getting a tattoo of the soot sprites from Spirited Away

      4. What’s the book or game you’re most excited about right now?

Hmm it’s not out for like a year but Mass Effect rocks my boat and can’t wait for the 3rd one

      5. What’s something you’ve had to eat crow on?

As im new to blogging I wrote a post on a blush and scheduled it to go up in a few days. When I first tried the blush I was so meh about it…then I got lots of compliments at work and had to run home and rewrite it all!! Also MAC is no longer my holy grail since I found indie places like Hi Fi

      • Phyrra

I’ve got to ask, what was the blush?

And yeah, indie companies can be so great!

    • UneLuneBleue

      1. What’s on your tips & toes?
Same as last week, although with added chipping, yeah!
      2. What colors have you dyed your hair?
Oh boy, mostly various shades of blonde, from white-blonde to my current dark blonde. I’ve also had a full head of pale pink hair at one point, along with strips of blue, pink, purple and red at different times.
      3. What’s the most risqué body modification you’ve ever done?
Either my tattoo on the back of my neck or one of my many ear piercings, guess I’m not that adventurous on that front.
      4. What’s the book or game you’re most excited about right now?
None at the moment, too busy trying to plan a cross-country move.
      5. What’s something you’ve had to eat crow on?
Hmm… I guess I must block this sort of thing out, because nothing is coming to mind. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been so completely wrong about so many things that the mind boggles, but no specific incident is standing out. I’d have to think about it and get back to you, and I’m not sure I WANT to think about it, lol. Well, I did marry the wrong guy at one point, does that count? (You know, ‘forever’ and all that, definitely ate those words, gulp!)

      • Phyrra

I hope your move goes smoothly!

    • Logan

      1. What’s on your tips & toes?
Clipped and begging to be polished
Toes – China glaze *fruit punch*
Nails – Sally hansen xtreme wear – cherry red
Love my nails – *ermm forgot the color LOL, its a purple and beautiful though >.<*
      2. What colors have you dyed your hair? Had tons of highlights before (looked almost blonde), dark brown, reddish brown, dark red. Currently dark red and needs to be fixed by a stylist (red on top and the bottom is dark brown D:, fail hair coloring)
      3. What’s the most risqué body modification you’ve ever done? I had my nose pierced when I was 14, sillyness on my part, it hurt and wouldn't heal right but oh well. It looked ok I guess and everyone thought it was cool XD.
      4. What’s the book or game you’re most excited about right now? I really want to read the millenium trilogy (The girl with the dragon tattoo etc). Really enjoyed the movies, such an intense story.
      5. What’s something you’ve had to eat crow on?
Loving Lancome eyeshadow. I don't know why but I told my sister like 3 times I loved lancome eyeshadow, well I ended up tossing mine because the pigment was barely there even when used wet. I didn't get why I kept saying it as so good, now I feel a little silly about it.

      • Phyrra

Noses can take forever to heal! I know any cartilage piercing I do on myself will take at least 6 months to heal, if not longer.

    • http://www.simplystephtee.blogspot.com stephanie

      1. What’s on your tips & toes?
Nothing on my toes. I have no clue what I’m wearing on my tips…it’s a polish I “stole” from my daughter. It’s charcoal gray with a slight sparkle, She got in in the makeup set that she received for Christmas and I think it’s such a cool color.

      2. What colors have you dyed your hair?
Almost every shade of red or burgundy. Strawberry blonde. I tried to go blonde once but my hair doesn’t like to lighten past a reddish/gold stage. For a while my hair was burgundy with the front being a raspberry color…once was purple.

      3. What’s the most risqué body modification you’ve ever done?
I have 3 piercings and three tattoos. My lip used to be pierced as well but I had to remove it for school. According to my Mom…it’s all risque :)

I have accumulated a ton of books on my Kindle that I haven’t read yet…I’m excited to tackle them all!

      5. What’s something you’ve had to eat crow on?
I have been wrong millions of times but no specific event is sticking out in my mind at the moment.

      5. What’s something you’ve had to eat crow on?
Hhahaha I used to tell everyone I hated yoke because it tastes gross but is also the ‘bad’ part part of the egg. Turns out it’s the good nutrient filled part hahahah :(

      • Phyrra

I’ve often thought of going to Australia.

Aww! I used to only like egg yolk with toast.

    • http://manicuredlibrarian.blogspot.com/ Soos

      1. What’s on your tips & toes?
Still Essie Pama on tips – very long-wearing! A very-close-to-dupe by OPI on toes.
      2. What colors have you dyed your hair? My hair is virgin, thank you. The front is black, but my white streak at the crown is taking over.

      4. What’s the book or game you’re most excited about right now? I left the library today with a pile of books, including Jacques Pepin’s memoir, The apprentice: my life in the kitchen. I got to ask JP a question when he was here for a Food Network thing in Honolulu. I asked him if he’d had a chance to eat and shop local food while here, and he said he loved Chinatown. I’ll get
      5. What’s something you’ve had to eat crow on? That’s too bad about your allergies, Phyrra! I’m glad you’ve found something that’s helping you. It’s my opinion and experience that when it comes to eye creams, you get what you pay for, and I use the best I can afford. I was surprised to receive a phone call from a person who I felt had been difficult to work with. She gave me 3 phone numbers to call regarding jobs. Truly a surprise! I cheerfully eat a big fat crow!

I felt so bad about the eye creams thing that I had to share it! It’s just in my entire life, I’d never needed them and then all of a sudden I desperately did >.<

That was nice of her to give you those #s!

People think a labret piercing ruined your clean cut image? You always have ctrazy coloured hair and cool makeup, I don’t think I would ever describe you as “clean cut” XD

      1. What’s on your tips & toes? Mode Cool As (mint green) on my fingers, and nothing on my toes right now. I may paint them later tonight if I can be bothered!

      2. What colors have you dyed your hair? Black, purple, red, and I’ve dyed sections red and white before.

      3. What’s the most risqué body modification you’ve ever done? I don’t think any of my piercings were particularly risque, except for the cartilage one in my ear that never healed after 3 years. I suppose I’d say my conch.

      4. What’s the book or game you’re most excited about right now? The new Pretty Little Liars book! I fell in love with the tv show and blitz through the books, and I’m so excited that Sara Shepard is writing more. :3

      5. What’s something you’ve had to eat crow on? Oh god, pretty much everything. When I was in the 7th grade I said I’d never go goth or like Marilyn Manson, and that changed completely. I can’t think of anything in particular that’s beauty related though.

Actually I take it back, I said I would never wear blue eyeshadow, bright eyeshadow or crazy lip colours and now I do!

When I was younger I used to be proud that I had no allergies at all and I thought that people with allergies were weird, but I have some sort of allergy now lol x
