This month Beauty Blog’s Backstage paired me up with the enchanting Nicole from Lipstick & Luxury. You can read her interview of me here.
1. What are your favorite bright colors to wear for spring?
I am not a huge fan of bright colors, I prefer more neutral shades or jet black. I prefer to lean towards the Spring neutral trend with lots of white, cream, and pale yellows. I find the shades to be calming and more relaxing..it just suits me.
2. What’s one beauty trend you wish would go away and never return?
I am seeing the orange lip trend popping up again and I hate it. Orange is my least favorite color and I just don’t find it flattering.
3. Do you have a favorite cruelty-free beauty line?
Urban Decay is my favorite cruetly free makeup brand. Their Naked Palette is one of my favorites!
4. Do you have any pets?
If so, tell me about them.I have two adorable chihuahuas. The male Chihuahua is names Hercules and he is a brown and white long-haired chi. The female is named Chloe and she is a black short-hair chi with white marking. Both of my babies are absolutely adorable.
5. What are 3 beauty products you would recommend without hesitation to everyone?
Clarisonic Mia, Oil of Olay Moisturizer and DiorShow Mascara
6. How did you get into makeup?
I’ve always loved makeup and products ever since I was a little girl. It all started with Tinkerbell and Bonne Belle cosmetics in elementary school and I’ve been obsessed ever since!
7. What’s the most over-hyped makeup line to you?
I’ll probably get a lot of flack for this but MAC Cosmetics is one of my least favorite and over-hyped brands. I just don’t like the texture of the makeup and I feel that they push out way too many collections just to have something new to sell. I’m not a fan.
8. What’s your favorite makeup line that doesn’t get enough attention?
Tokidoki! The eyeshadows are very pigmented and their lip glosses are delish. The brand also has great packaging, which is a plus in my book.
9. What features do you prefer to enhance on your face?
I always enhance my lips and my eyes. I have “sleepy” eyes and I love them because they are so different. So I definitely try to play them up a bit. I also have full lips that are not too big and not too line so I almost always wear lip-gloss or lipstick to enhance them.
10. What are your holy grail beauty products?
Right now I am pretty obsessed with Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta pads. They’re one of the best products that I’ve tried in months so I think that they will become one of my holy grail products. Another product that I’ve used since my teen years is Oil of Olay moisturizer. I have sensitive skin and Oil of Olay has never failed me – no irritation, no breakouts and just the right about of moisture. Perfection!

Hello Cotton
I agree that MAC Cosmetics are overhyped and not a great product
I agree w/the MAC overhype as well.
Funny that you love the orange lipstick and Nicole wishes it would go away…. shows there’s varying opinions to a trend! Both good interviews.
I also agree on MAC; reading about the quality of their ingredients going downhill since selling to Estee Lauder really put me off them. Oh, well. Also, I had to chuckle after reading Nicole’s interview with you and seeing your different viewpoint on orange lips!
I love orange lipstick! I xD have slightly orange/yellow undertones and I think orange looks really good on me.
Actually, here’s a post I did with me wearing orange lipstick… http://blackroseponpon.blogspot.com/2010/09/op-tournee.html Lime crime tho, I wanna get a fyrinnae orange lip lustre sometime.
I completely agree with you on the tokidoki. that is one of my favorite lines!
