Insanely It & Ultra Darling

Yesterday I picked up 2 MAC Sheen Supreme lipsticks. From looking at various watches online, they were the two that I thought I’d like the best, Insanely It & Ultra Darling.

I made the mistake of going to the MAC counter at Dillard’s. This is the same place that gave me a hard time over returning the MAC makeup remover that I’d used once, the very next day. They tried to tell me that you couldn’t Back to MAC for a Sheen Supreme Lipstick, and that the rules had just changed. I pointed out they were permanent and they same price as the regular lipstick line, and they refused. So I said ok, purchased what I was going to purchase, and will most likely not go back to that location. Everything I can find online says that they should have accepted my Back to MAC products for one of the lipsticks. This really annoyed me. And if anyone  has any updated information on whether they should have accepted it or not, I would appreciate it.

Anyway on to the lipsticks!
Insanely It is described as a watermelon pink, but it comes across as a hot pink to me, hence why I had to have it.
Ultra Darling is described as a mid-tone yellow pink, but to me it seems to be more of a pink-coral when worn.

Ultra Darling is actually a shade I can see stashing in my purse so that I always have a lipcolor I can wear,  no matter what else I’m wearing. I feel like it’s a really flattering shade. I like the colors, the color payoff, and texture. I can’t speak about the wear yet, as I just swatched these and then wiped my lips off.

What do you think? Have you tried the MAC Sheen Supreme Lipsticks?

Products purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

I’m dying to get full speed – that’s a warm pink I think :) insanely it suits you perfectly!

      • Phyrra

I actually decided to order Full Speed online and got free shipping with the code Jeanius. It looks pretty too.

I heard you can’t B2M for these either :( Can you ask about it from Mac or do all counters have different rules? I’m pretty sure we can’t B2M for these because we can’t B2M for Pro Longwears either.

There’re some pretty shades so I’ll check these out once they’re launched here.

      • Phyrra

Next time I make it into an actual store I’m going to ask, because the rules are never consistent.

I never shop at Dillards- their return policy is unnecessarily strict- cosmetic companies reimburse 3rd party vendors (like Dept Stores) for returns, so there’s no reason in the world not to back up a cosmetic item with a reasonable return policy. They’re just nasty for fun!

      • Phyrra

The only reason I went there again is that it’s the closest MAC counter to me. I will probably not make that mistake again as the women there are kind of rude and don’t seem to understand the MAC policies (as they were the people who tried to tell me I couldn’t return the makeup remover the day after I bought it.) Yeah Dillards did not impress me.

I want to try these, but I don’t think I’m going to. I’m really into MAC Jeanius!

      • Phyrra

These are permanent, so there’s no rush.

I’ve looked at all the swatches and honestly I think I am going to pass, at least for a while. Not sure on the B2M thing. I know my “local” store wouldn’t let me B2M for a LE color once (just LE color, not LE packaging) even though they’re supposed to let you (checked when I got home) Honestly rules from counter to counter, employee to employee makes be not even want to B2M

      • Phyrra

Yeah the rules are annoying though I do love the B2M thing.

I’m really loving Insanely It. I want to try Goes and Goes (or whatever variant of “go” that name is). Lovin’ the orange lip trend that’s popping up.

      • Phyrra

Me too! I know not everyone can wear orange lips but I adore them.

Gah, dammit woman! Stop reviewing such beautiful lippies! I’m a lippie fiend by nature, and you are So. Not. Helping. ;-)

I *really* want to try out Ultra Darling, it looks like the ultimate throw-it-on-and-go kind of color for me.

      • Phyrra

I feel you! I’m a bit of a lippy fiend, too.

I ordered BOTH these colors along with Full Speed on Tuesday. I can’t wait to get them and this making me even more impatient. They look nice, but I think sheerer than I thought they would be.

      • Phyrra

Yeah I decided I needed Full Speed, so it’s coming to me :) I did apply them sheerly but I’m sure you can use a lip primer to help them be more vibrant.

I’ve never actually BOUGHT anything MAC, though a friend gifted me with some. This proves advertising and reviews work. Now I WANT some of these.

      • Phyrra

        Aww cool :)

    • Deery Lou

I’ve never seen the Supreme sheen MAC lipsticks, which are lovely btw :) however ,I’ve noticed that MACs in department stores and the stand alones are different regarding the b2m. In the stand alones you can b2m for a lipstick (minus the VIVA), lipgloss or eyeshadow. In department store, you can just b2m for a lipstick. At least this is how it is in Toronto…

      • Phyrra

See the Dillards told me you could only do it for an eye shadow, a lipglass or a lipstick, but only their regular line, not anything else. At the Macy’s I’ve done it for other types of lipsticks, as well as at the MAC store, in the past. So I just got the feeling the woman was lying to me. As these are permanent lipstick type, it didn’t make sense why she’d say that.

      Very nice colors!

The whole Back 2 Mac thing is really irritating. It seems that the rules are different at every counter. I’ve had some take back my Eyebrow Pencil plastic cases and other ones won’t. This is irritating. Also, I have had a counter tell me that you can only get a shadow or glass from Pro Stores or freestanding stores and not counters, at counters you can only get a lipstick. I have then gone on to get an eyeshadow back from a counter. I have no idea what the rules are now. They should have one very clear policy for all locations and stick to it!
