Hmm I am very very pink so this could work but I’ve never found a drugstore foundation that isn’t too yellow and even though it’s too pink for you i reckon it would still be too yellow for me!

@Lillian, I have the exact same problem. Never seen a drugstore, or a high-end (no access to Illumasqua), cream or liquid foundation that is light & pink enough for me. I’ve been having to mix my own cream foundation by adding matte pigments from TKB, first a bit of blue to neutralize the yellow, & then pale pink, as well as some titanium diozide & zinc oxide to lighten it. I’ve been using pale pink matte eyeshadow as a setting powder.

      • MissJupiter March 21, 2011 at 7:52 am #

Er…more accurately, blue-violet pigment to neutralize the yellow-orange pigments.

      • Phyrra March 25, 2011 at 6:46 pm #

Apparently the lowest # Illamasqua may be light enough.

    • Phyrra March 25, 2011 at 6:46 pm #

      Aww!

    I definitely agree, too pink!

Sidenote, I LOVE those earrings you have on. Where did you get them?

    • The Peach March 9, 2011 at 10:00 am #

I love the earrings too! Are those from an Etsy shop?

        Yes! They’re from HandcraftedCaroyln’s shop ;)

I hated this foundation and ended up returning it. The color oxidized and was very orange on me. All the shades look dark to me. The texture was a weird slippery one. I rarely return anything but this was a huge disappointment (the packaging was nice though).

    • Phyrra March 25, 2011 at 6:47 pm #

      Ick! Oxidization sucks.

I really like the Maybelline foundations because they are actually pink enough for me. I am like Lillian in that way… Others are too yellow or peach.

I really like Dream Mousse Smooth in Porcelain Ivory… But I am a level darker than Phyrra, so the Maybelline Dream Mousse foundations are a tad too dark for the paler gals.

    • Phyrra March 25, 2011 at 6:47 pm #

Most drugstore ones tend to run too dark, but sometimes it’s nice to try :)

All foundations I tryed from drugstore brands looked horrible on me, too yellow, too pink, or worst, orange! In liquid foundations I was only able to find a match in some higher end brands that make truly neutral tones. But I never really liked the finish on my face so I ended up trying mineral foundation and never looked back!

By the way, lovely earrings you’re wearing. They are origami lucky stars, am I right?

      I think so :)

Well I’m glad to hear the foundation didn’t break you out! And 5 hours of wear is pretty good. I’ll have to check it out to see if there is a shade close to my skintone.

After 5 hours I looked a hot mess though. It was goooone.

      • The Peach March 9, 2011 at 10:24 am #

Awww…. well maybe I won’t waste my time then! I’ll stick to my Meow foundation and PF Healthy Wear tinted moisturizer.

I kind of doubt the line has a match for me, either.

Well, it’s not as good as the Cover Girl Natureluxe, so I wouldn’t be too upset over this one.

I’ve **finally** stopped looking at drugstore brand foundations. They always look like they could work, and I’m always disappointed with the color.

    • Runaround Sous March 9, 2011 at 1:06 pm #

But I do have to thank you for trying, Cin. It was your blog posts that lead me to the Maybelline mousse foundations.

I had passed over drugstore foundations for so long that I had given up hope. And I never considered Maybelline before because I never had luck with their cosmetics in the past.

So, I do appreciate your help with this. <3

I still try sometimes, and usually end up sad panda :P

I’ve noticed that drugstore foundations tend to be too dark or if they are light enough, they are too pink!
    :(

    • Phyrra March 25, 2011 at 6:49 pm #

Yep, you summed up my experience ;)

  10. Cassy March 9, 2011 at 11:48 am #

Honestly 5 hours is pretty disappointing to me, I expect my foundation to at -least- last me all day at work (even without primer)

    • Phyrra March 9, 2011 at 11:51 am #

The texture was interesting, but the color being off, and it being gone after 5 hours meant it didn’t work for me. So I hear ya!

  11. robyn March 9, 2011 at 2:43 pm #

WHERE did you get the earrings? They. Are. So. Cute.

From Handcrafted Carolyn on Etsy :)

It’s pink enough for me, but like Loreal True Match in 1C it’s way too dark. I get that awful foundation line along my jaw. Didn’t provide enough coverage for me either. :|

I will never find a perfect foundation but I guess there are worse things in life lol…

    • Phyrra March 25, 2011 at 6:51 pm #

You will find one! It’s just probably not going to come from the drugstore.

  13. Logan March 9, 2011 at 6:37 pm #

Idk, in the bottle it looks way off, like way to dark and on your hand it looked too yellow. I use covergirl clean make up atm but Idk, I still think its too dark/pink for me. I never feel like a foundation is pale enough. They always make them too dark, somewhere someone told themall of us have beige skin? LOL, I guess that’s more of the “average” skin tone. Idk I need some pale foundation without going “goth”. Any ideas?
