BH Cosmetics Custom Palette #2

During one of the recent BH Cosmetics sales, I purchased another custom 15 pan palette. I tried to pick up some neutral shades to help round out my makeup collection.

Top Row: WM12 – WM16 – CM5 – WM19 – MM16
Middle Row: WS12 – WS16 – CS5 – WS19 – MM14
Bottom Row: WS18 – CS9 – CS7 – CS13 – MM4

Ingredients:
Talc, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Mineral Oil, Magnesium Stearate, Methylparaben. May Contain: Mica and Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides, Ultramarine Blue, Manganese Violet, Chromium Oxide Greens, FD&C Red No.40 Al Lake, FD&C Yellow No.5 Al Lake, FD&C Blue No.1 Al Lake.

Price:
$24.46 for a 15 color custom palette, $13.96 for a 6 color custom palette, $2.77 for a single shadow. Single shade is 26mm net weight 1.3g/o.o4 oz.

My thoughts on the shades and their descriptions:
wm12 – matte creamy beige
wm16 – matte peach
cm5 – matte beige tinged with grey
wm19 – matte light pink
mm16 – metallic matte burgundy
ws12 – shimmery cream
ws16 – shimmery peach
cs5 – shimmery light dirty grey
ws19 – shimmery pink
mm14 – metallic matte navy
ws18 – rich pearly brown
cs9 – coppery-brown
cs7 – light shimmery silver
cs13 – shimmery rich aqua
mm4 – metallic matte pine green

You can see my brighter custom palette from BH here.

The metallic mattes are fantastic and I really love them. CS13 is gorgeous (as is its matte counterpart CM13). CM5 and CS5 are really awesome shades. I don’t care too much for WS18 or CS9. WM16 and WS16 are nice peach shades. WM19 and WS19 are ultra girly pinks. WM12 and WS12 are nice creamy shades.

From what I’ve seen online, I think that the quality of the single eye shadows is better than their pre-made palettes, but I haven’t tried any of the pre-made palettes to confirm this.

If you don’t mind talc, methylparaben or mineral oil in your eye shadows, these have nice texture and pigmentation.

Morning Phyrra! How would you describe their quality and usability in comparison to Inglot or MAC? Thanks!

I think they’re more pigmented than MAC, for the most part. However, most of the colors are not complex shades. I don’t think there as nice in quality as Inglot.

      Hope this helps!

I have one of the palettes (the 120, edition 1) and these look to be a lot nicer… like a whole different, better formulation. They look creamier, if that makes sense. The palettes are very powdery and not very finely milled.

These are definitely creamy and finely milled.

My concern is the talc and mineral oil. Sometimes mineral oil shadows cause milia in a friend of mine, so I avoid it like the plague, too.

Are these palettes from BH the same ones you can get at Coastal Scents? I am just curious because a lot of the palettes look similar at both places

It looks to me like BH sells the same premade palettes as coastal scents. However, I’ve not purchased premades from either store.

I really think one day I will order a BH custom palette instead of spending the rest of my life saving up to buy Inglot! $0.60 per shadow can’t be beat and honestly … I have so many shadows already, they don’t each get much use anyway >_< and since these colors all look soooo pretty … why not!!

(Please let me keep my beautiful dream, I know Inglot is really way better but since I'll never be able to buy it I must convince myself I don't need it! LOL)

Thanks Phyrra. I have one of the Coastal scents palettes and I really like it so far. I was looking at BH and they looked the same so I thought I would see if you knew if they were the same or not =0)

I’m looking for a light grey-brown shade as a blending color. I have NYX Taupe, which I hear is very similar to MAC Wedge; I like the color a lot, but I just wish it were in a circular pan so I could put it in my palette. =) Are you familiar with either Taupe or Wedge? Is CM5 anything like that? Thank you!

    • Phyrra April 27, 2011 at 10:44 pm #

Hi Grace, I don’t own MAC Wedge or Nyx Taupe, so I’m not really sure how similar the shades are. The closest shade that I own to CM5 is probably Stars Makeup Haven Ciao Bella. From what I can see online, I think CM5 is lighter than Wedge or Taupe.
