I picked up the Redken Refining Sea Polish at the end of February or beginning of March at the recommendation of my stylist. I was a bit skeptical, but Lori swore that I would love it and it would add shine to my hair and remove any build up.
The Website Claims:
Removes impurities that build up on the hair strand and restores shine and smoothness.
The Ingredients are:
Sea Algae Hydra Complex:
Sea Algae – Protects
Soy Protein – Replenishes
Aloe Vera – Moisturizes
Oceanic Calone Fragrance
Price:
$18.95 for 3.4 oz. at Amazon.com, though it is also available at salons and Ulta.
Does it live up to its claims?
Yes, I think so. I feel like it does a good job of removing any product buildup that I may get, which is pretty rare since I don’t use a lot of product these days. I do feel it does add a bit of shine, too. I also think it feels pretty good to massage this into my hair. I wouldn’t recommend using it more than once a week, though it’s something I only use after I’ve used a lot of product. Additionally, I love the packaging. The colors match my home with the soothing blue and grey, as well as coming in a useful squeeze tube.
Would I purchase again?
Probably. It’s going to take me a long time to get through this tube of Polish, since it doesn’t take much for me to cleanse my hair.
Have you tried Redken’s Refining Sea Polish for hair? Or do you prefer to clarify your hair with another product?
Product purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

Hello Cotton
I haven’t tried this, but I thought it was interesting when I heard about it. Trouble is, I’m scared it’s going to make my curly hair go ‘fluffy’, if you know what I mean.

I actually thought it did a great job at cleaning my hair. It didn’t go frizzy afterwards, either. However, I do have straight hair. I did see Leesha from XSparkage mention it, and I believe she has curly hair that she irons straight. I think she likes it.
i can’t remember where i saw redken but the brand seems familiar hmmm… i am going to check out if i can get this here. thanks for the review phyrra!

You’re welcome Sugar
I bought the kit with the small size of shampoo, the conditioner and 4 packets of this. I just used my second packet day before yesterday because I felt like I had buildup. This stuff is great. It isn’t like a clarifying shampoo or a chelator. It has this gritty bits in it that feel like sand. You massage it through your hair, and it rinses clean. My hair feels so clean afterwards — but more moisturized than when you use a clarifying shampoo. My hair is detangled and I don’t even need a conditioner afterwards.
Yeah it’s unusual but nice. Definitely reminded me of sand at first.
