Black Office Shoes

My best friend and I went shopping to find a comfortable pair of office shoes. She showed me her favorite store for such things, Nordstrom Rack. Having never been there, I didn’t know what to expect. I will say, as far as clothes go, I found NR a bit disappointing because they didn’t have a petites section to speak of. Nothing for short people in sight! Anyway, they did have some cool shoes and of all the prospects, these were the most comfortable and cute I could find.

The shoes are Privo by Clarks, style Paddie 2 Mary Jane. I believe I got them for $36, though I can only find them online for $69.

These are a size 8. Most of my shoes are 7.5 or 8, depending on the style and fit.

I wanted to show you the foot beds of these shoes. They’re textured and supposed to offer you a massage with every step. And hey, they’re purple inside.

These are cute and look nice with dress pants.

Product purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

I love Nordstrom rack! Nice shoes. Clarks are super comfy and they have come out with some cute styles.

I don’t think I’d heard of them before, but these are great!

I really need a pair of comfortable shoes. I have terrible flat feet and just standing or walking for about 5 minutes makes them ache. Claire has a pair of Clarkes for work and says they’re the comfiest shoes she’s ever worn. I love the little massaging nodules, what a great idea! And they’re pretty too :)

eek you definitely need some comfy ones! There are cute crocs that have the nubs, too.

Those look very similar to the shoes I just bought! Mine are NaturalSol somethings, but they’re black Mary Janes with a button closure and comfy insides.

Middle-dressy-casual shoes are wonderful to find!

        Definitely so!

Shopping for clothes is one of the hardest things for me as I am woefully petite. And, unfortunately, most petite sections do not really cater to my style preference. I feel “too maturely” dressed for the cut and styles they usually offer. :-(

      • Phyrra

Yeah I’m just under 5’4″, so I prefer petite pants and skirts. I feel your pain!

Those are cute! I’m a sucker for slip on Mary Janes. I used to wear Clarks exclusively, but with the achilles tendon injury last year, I switched to Danskos for the support. I have a pair of Merrill slip on Mary Janes that are really supportive, though. They’re great walking shoes.

        Aww thanks!

I love Nordstrom Rack too! I drop in from time to time because the merchandise turns over really quickly

        Oooh good to know! Ty!

It’s hard to find nice dress clothes at NR. I like to find separates or casual clothes there like Jeans. If you want work clothes that are just plain work clothes and not sassy or anything, Ann Taylor Loft has petites and is lower priced than Ann Taylor. Their pants don’t fit me though. And, some Banana Republic stores have a petite section. I only shop sales there — and I love the outlet store for work basics like tops and bottoms for mix and match. Sometimes, they have friends and family sales where you get a percentage off the already reduced prices. I spent $350 last year during one of those and got like 10 tops, 4 pair of pants, 3 or 4 jackets, tons of boxers for my hubby, etc. Nordstrom just had a half yearly sale — not sure if it is still going on. You might find some good sales. But for standard office clothes, 2 of my go to places are Ann Taylor Loft and Banana Republic — however, they are kind of boring and safe. Oh, and I love going to “The Limited” because they have great sale prices sometimes. I have bought 2 separates to make a suit for $60 total when the normal price would be like $250 or $300ish. The clothes are well made and hold up well, and they have petites, too.

It’s super funny you mention that! I actually went to the Loft and that’s where I found 2 pair of pants that were petite that fit me. I also went to Banana Republic but every single shirt I tried on had the dreaded boob gap. And if it didn’t have the boob gap, it had the ‘I’m wearing a tent’ feeling.
I’m going to check Marshalls and TJ Maxx, at the suggestion of another friend of mine.

I love Clarks for work shoes! (When I’m at a job that requires nice shoes anyway!) And Ann Taylor Loft is one of my favorite places for “work clothes” when I need them. I don’t usually bother to try and find petite pants though, because I’m so short even the petites have to be hemmed. I’ve even bough talls if that’s the only one in my correct size. If it’s getting chopped anyway I figure the starting length is unimportant! I also have had good luck with JC Penny on and off, for pants and sometimes tops. It can be pretty hit and miss though.

      • Phyrra

Yeah that’s a good point, too. If I can find petites, I don’t have to get them hemmed, which is nice.

I don’t like the petites section at NR too. Otherwise, the stuff they have are pretty decent. The prices are wallet friendly too! :P

      • Phyrra

        Yeah the prices were good!

Those shoes are cute and look really comfy. I appreciate it when shoes are cute on the inside too! :-)

        Me too! It’s like a secret :)
