Absinthe in Athens

It’s a hot summer day here in Tampa! As I had yet to use Jealousy Wakes, I decided I’d incorporate it today into a green look. I used Too Faced Shadow Insurance to start things out so that I had a nice base. With a shade brush, I applied Sugarpill Absinthe to the inner 3/4 of the lid and crease. I used a pencil brush to apply MAC Jealousy Wakes to the outer 1/4 of the lid and crease, and blended it inwards. With a small smudge brush I applied Urban Decay Space Cowboy to the upper crease. Using a fluffy highlighter brush, I applied MAC Vapour to the browbone. I took a smudger brush and applied Jealousy Wakes to the outer lower lash line. With a small smudge brush I applied Vapour to the inner corners of the eye and the inner lower lash line. I used Urban Decay’s 24/7 liner in Perversion to the lower water line. With a bent eyeliner brush I applied MAC Blacktrack to the upper lash line. I defined my brows with MAC Blackberry. I used a combination of Dior Diorshow lash primer and Make Up for Ever’s Smoky Lash Mascara to finish off my eyes.

Eyes:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance
Sugarpill Absinthe – inner 3/4 of lid and inner 3/4 of crease
MAC Jealousy Wakes – outer 1/4 of lid and outer 1/4 of crease, blended inward, also along lower lash line
Urban Decay Space Cowboy – upper crease
MAC Vapour – browbone to highlight, inner corner of eyes, inner lower lash line
MAC Blacktrack – upper lash line
Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Perversion – lower water line
MAC Blackberry – to define brows
Dior Diorshow Lash Primer
Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Mascara

Cheeks:
MAC Dollymix – blush

Face:
MAC Pro Longwear concealer in NC15 mixed with Smashbox SPF 15 Face Primer
Too Faced Amazing Face Pressed Foundation in Vanilla Creme

Lips:
Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Stick in Athens
Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Polish in Monica

For my face, I tried mixing MAC’s Pro Longwear concealer in NC15 with Smashbox SPF 15 face primer and then applied that under my eyes and to my t-zone. With my Real Techniques buffing brush I applied Too Faced Amazing Face Pressed foundation in Vanilla Creme to my face. I used a bit of MAC Dollymix on my cheeks. I used the Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Stick in Athens with a tiny bit of Buxom Monica lip gloss on top.

I actually am really pleased with how my skin looks with this combination. And of course, I love how the eye shadow turned out.

How’s your weekend going?

So pretty! I like the greens together a lot.
My weekend: I’m house shopping long-distance and making a Sephora run later, not too bad ;-) Hope yours is a good one!

      • Phyrra

It’s been very good :) Thank you!

    • http://judixo.blogspot.com Judi

I’m beginning to think your skin is just that flawless, naturally! :D

The Athens/Monica combo is the perfect offset to the green. They compliment each other nicely.

I’m trying not to leave the house…if I do I know my car will wander to the Ulta 30mins away and the UD Naked Palette palette & the Tarte for True Blood palette will mysteriously make their way into my permanent collection, haha.

      • Phyrra

Aww thanks Judi! The Tarte palette is tempting!

        • http://judixo.blogspot.com Judi

I caved and bought it at my local JCP Sephora. Much shorter drive. Also, they were out of the Naked Palette…besides, it’s not LE so I felt justified getting the Tarte palette!

    • The Peach

Fun green look! Love these colors together! Your hair is looking so cute!

      • Phyrra

Thanks Peach! I’m really lovin’ my hair.

    • http://libervix.blogspot.com/ Liber Vix

That is one of my favorite color combos, just lovely! I’ve been doing a similar look lately with Fyrinnae’s We’re All Mad Here and Dragon’s Wing.

      • Phyrra

Aww thanks Liber! I adore both of those Fyrinnae shades, too.

    • http://www.ruthsmakeup.blogspot.com Ruth

Ah! I haven’t worn Absinthe in too long. It’s so vivid! Looks wonderful with Jealous Jordana x

      • Phyrra

Thanks! The green is actually Christine from Temptalia’s MAC Blogger’s color, Jealousy Wakes.

    • http://www.glitterandshimmer.blogspot.com Danielle

Gorgeous look! I love green eyeshadow :)

    • http://libbyspinkvanity.blogspot.com Kimberly

I’m spending the day, maybe the entire weekend, in the house!! Damn it’s hot! Well, I did get in my run but I was out at 7 AM and couldn’t have waited any longer…humid!!

Now that is some green shadow! Gosh, what vibrant colors.

I noticed your foundation right off. I thought you had airbrushed it, it seems so flawless.

      • Phyrra

Nope, I didn’t retouch this at all :) Usually I’ll do a little under my eyes or on the dark spot by my chin. Didn’t need it today.

    • http://fiercenerditude.blogspot.com/ Vijaya

GREEEEN! Love it! Love everything about it!

      • Phyrra

        Yay! Thanks Vijaya!

    • http://www.nightlynails.com/ Nicole

You are positively glowing. I’ve always been envious of your skin, but it’s positively flawless here! And of course, the greens suit you so well.

      • Phyrra

Thank you Nicole! I really like the trick of mixing in a concealer with a face primer.

    • http://roxcat.net/blog/ roxcat

What a gorgeous look! I think I need Absinthe in my collection. We’ve just had a “crayfish party” here with some neighbors (it’s a Swedish thing..) so I’ve had a really nice time.

      • Phyrra

Yay! That sounds like fun Roxcat!

    • http://cinseven13.blogspot.com/ cinseven13

      very pretty!!

      • Phyrra

        Thanks Cin!

    • http://lacqueredpaintedpolished.blogspot.com/ Jessi

Ah! So gorgeous! I’ve been anxiously waiting for a bright look for you and it was worth the wait! Oh, and thanks to you I’m not obsessed with Buxom’s lip products!

      • Phyrra

Thanks Jessi! I’m trying to find time to do more, as I miss them.

    • http://www.theprettyexclusive.com Erin M.

Gorgeous! I’m still skeptical of a lot if the Blogger’s Obsession collection but I can’t deny how pretty Jealousy Wake is. <3

      • Phyrra

I really do like the colors I picked up, but I only nabbed 2 of the eye shadows, I think. Jealousy Wakes and Hocus Pocus. Of the lippies, I got Evolution Revolution, All of my Purple Life, and uhm, the red/coral.

    • Kate

The whole look is so perfect, it almost seems as if it must be photoshopped. But I know this blog so well that I realize it is just your application skills and genetically blessed skin!

I have that buxom duo, and I love it, too. So pretty for summer, right?!

      • Phyrra

It’s an awesome duo! And no, not photoshopped, but I’ve been working hard to try and get my skin to look better. I feel like it’s doing really well these days.

    • http://yelayadreamsofbeauty.blogspot.com/ yelaya

Oh, finally full of color again! Green is my favourite color and absynthe and jealuosy wakes are too beautiful! I want to do this look too. Good summer!

      • Phyrra

You should definitely give this a try :)

    • http://tiahaar.blogspot.com Tiahaar

I really need Absinthe in my life. :) Sugarpill shadows are just gorgeous. <3 Your look is just lovely. (I must try the Holika BB Cream some day. It sounds like it would be perfect for my skin. Thank you for making the review.)

      • Phyrra

        You’re welcome Tiahaar!

    • http://swatchfreak.wordpress.com/ Swatch Freak

That’s a really nice look! I love green shades ;)

      • Phyrra

        Me too, Swatch Freak :)

    • Amber

Those colours look great on you! I really like that blush, and how your skin looks. The definite “pinkish” hue your skin seems to have here is really gorgeous, especially with the greens, workin’ the contrast!

      • Phyrra

        Aww thanks :)

    • Sharon

I love this look phyrra :) I do need some advise though regarding UD 24/7 liners. I have this problem with it transferring into my crease about 5 hrs after applying it. I have tried many ways to prevent it such as: making a smaller line on the top of my eyelid, using some more eye shadow after I have applied it. I don’t know if there is anyway I can get this to stop happening with this liner. If you have any advise that would be greatly appreciated.
Otherwise I’m probably going to hop back on the liquid liner train and stay on it.

      • Phyrra

Do you use a primer? That usually helps me :)

    • http://beautifulwithbrains.com gio

I love greens and I love this look, it’s gorgeous!

      • Phyrra

        Thanks Gio!

    • http://sparklecrackfreak.blogspot.com Shayne A

Phyrra, this is phenomenal!! What is your opinion of Jealousy Wakes, as far as opacity, blendability & texture? I’m on the fence about ordering it…

      • Phyrra

I love it! I think it’s a nice shade :) It’s easy to apply and blend, good texture, and very pigmented. I honestly think it’s better than 90% of the shadows that MAC has released recently.

    • http://eyelinerandspraypaint.blogspot.com Robyn

Zing! This looks awesome with the lip combo!

      • Phyrra

        Thanks Robyn!

    • http://wintrybeauty.blogspot.com Thia Winter

Love this look Phyrra! How would you compare the Too Faced Powder Foundation to NARS’ powder foundation? I have a sample of it, and have used it once or twice, but I’d love to hear what you think!

      • Phyrra

The Too Faced really does give me a great finish, but it’s a bit darker than the NARS. I love the NARS color.

    • http://vulcanbutterfly.blogspot.com Vulcan_Butterfly

Gorgeous! I really love the blending of the eyeshadows and Absinthe in Athens is such a glamourous name for the look!

      • Phyrra

        Thanks VB :)

This look is really really pretty!! You look very beautiful on those pictures!

      • Phyrra

        Thanks Nymphette!

    • http://silhouettescreams.blogspot.com SilhouetteScreams

LOVE these greens together on their own, and they look even cooler with the coral lip and glittery light crease :D

      • Phyrra

Aww thanks Silhouette :) I really like the glittery light crease thing, it makes a nice transitional shade.

    • http://geekfaerie.blogspot.com Geek Faerie

I love how that looks!! I would not have thought to pair it that way. I wish I had half that much skill. Just gorgeous!

      • Phyrra

        Aww thank you Geek Faerie!

    • http://www.lillianfunnyface.blogspot.com Lillian

Ohhh those greens are just gorgeous! Absolutely beautiful :)

      • Phyrra

        Thanks Lillian!

    • Bianca

wish i could do this look but MAC isnt cruelty free anymore so i cant get the MAC products you used. can you give me a list of cruelty free dupes for them, please?

      • http://www.phyrra.net/ Phyrra

        Hi Bianca,
MAC was cruelty-free when I made this post. I stopped purchasing MAC in March or April of 2012 when I found out they were no longer cruelty-free. I wrote several letters to MAC and Estee Lauder asking them to reconsider their new status. I have not received a response back.
Blacktrack is a black gel liner, so any black gel liner will do. Jealousy Wakes seems to be close to Nyx Wild Fire (according to swatches online). MAC Vapour is similar to Urban Decay Walk of Shame.
