Smooth Operator Amazonian clay Illuminating Serum
So far, I’ve used the blush, lip pencil, and eye brighteners.
The blush is nice, and really does wear all day. The lip pencil doesn’t last nearly as long, but I do love the color, as you know I’m a fan of golden-pink. I do like the eye brighteners but I’m not a fan of the packaging. It’s a bit of a pain.
As I’d never purchased one of Tarte’s kits before, I was actually pretty happy with everything that came in this kit. While I’m skeptical of anything that claims to be universally flattering, this kit actually might live up to that claim. I’m definitely happy that I purchased it. Previously I’ve only used Tarte’s cheek stains, so it’s nice to try different products by the company.
Do you like Tarte? What do you think of ‘universally flattering’ shades? Do they exist? Do you like golden-pinks like I do?
Product purchased by me. All opinions are my own.
I almost bought this kit but thought the blush looked a tad too glittery for me, which was a shame because the shade in general looked lovely (love rose/gold/pinks). I’m still interested in trying those Amazonian Clay blushes. I LOVE the Illuminating Serum. I got a sample in another Sephora kit and liked it enough to get a full size. It’s funny because one-size-fits-all tinted items usually make me look orange or grimy (I’m super pale) but this blends in nicely. I use it as a tinted moisturizer under my Meow foundation.
The blush is really pretty, even with the visible glitter in the pan.
I’m a big fan of Tarte. I really like their Amazonian clay blushes and cheek stains. I got the auto-delivery option of their Glow Your Way to Gorgeous kit on QVC, so I’ll be getting more Tarte stuff in October (and February). I was really tempted by this Sephora kit, but I wasn’t sure that it was worth the price. At this point I already have a mini of the illuminating serum and Sweet, so there isn’t enough reason for me to get this kit. I really want to try the highlight powder though.
I really like Sweet! The highlight powder works well on the face or browbone.
This is a really nice kit! I got the Glow Your Way to Gorgeous kit from QVC and it had the Tarte lipsurgence in sweet too……love it! I really want to try the blush in Glisten now…..
Glisten is a nice pinky peachy gold shade. Yeah Sweet is great.
Interesting products. The blush and lippie look beautiful! The eye brighteners look interesting, but the packaging does look a little complicated. Thanks for the review. I haven’t tried any of these products. But I do really like tartes Lights, Camera, Lashes! mascara.
The packaging is annoying, definitely.
I’ve been curious about this set as well. Looking forward to your review on the serum.
I like pinks but I tend to think berry tones look better on me. Do you find the lip pencil’s scent/smell overwhelming (I believe it’s mint scented if I’m not mistaken)?
I can’t remember it having a scent, so either my allergies are working overtime, or it’s not discernible to me.
I love Tarte, it’s my favorite ‘prestige’ brand. The only palette I own is their True Blood one, and Lifted is the only primer that doesn’t crease on me.
This kit looks like a great investment as it contains the perfect everyday essentials to look your best. Eye brighteners are a secret weapon in the makeup arsenal.
I agree, eye brighteners are awesome.
I have this, and ITA that the packaging for the eye brighteners is a full on PITA. The cap containing the daytime shade is already cracked and I keep having to wrap tape around it so that it doesn’t fall off. The eye brightener shades, however, make fantastic tear duct /inner corner highlighters and are perfect for those mornings when I need to fake the ‘well rested’ look.
When I’m in a hurry to get out the door, all I need for the ‘five minute face’ is BB Cream, liner, mascara & the products in this kit.
Sounds like your five minute face is awesome
I got this kit and, while I liked some of it, I wasnt thrilled. The blush was a gorgeous color, but sadly just didnt work for me. I use the eye shadows as an inner corner highlight most days, but mostly just to use them up. I do really love the lip pencil and the illuminating serum though. I use the serum daily mixed with my foundation and love the result. The shimmering powder is really nice too, particularly for evening. I love Tarte and I’m really hoping they come out with some awesome holiday kits!
I really do love the eye shadow colors, especially under the brows. OOoooh I bet it would be cool to mix the serum with NARS Siberia!
I’m skeptical of something that is supposed to flatter *every* skintone, but I do think there are products that flatter a helluva lot of skintones! I just got some of the Amazonian Clay Blushes and they’re lovely
I agree with you, some do flatter a great deal of individuals. Taupe eye shadow, for example, does seem to be an almost ‘universal’ flattering color.
I’m a bit of a Tarte fanatic and have something like 5 Tarte palettes, and a whole bunch of their older lippies (the double sided glosses. I have a bunch!) When I do buy expensive brands it is usually Tarte. I actually haven’t gotten around to testing our their new stuff like the Amazonian clay blushes or the lip surgence lippies. Must try both of those soon! Especially that blush color. I LOVE anything with gold tones in it. (However, I seriously doubt anything will surpass my love for Meow’s Illuminate.)
Illuminate is soo gorgeous! I need to drag that out
LOVE Tarte!! I have an addiction to the LipSurgences!!
What are your favorite shades of the lipsurgences?
