Star Wars or Star Trek? Which do you prefer?

This is a tough one! I grew up watching Star Trek reruns (along with Dr. Who and Dark Shadows, just to name a few) with my parents. However, I remember watching the original Star Wars movies over and over and loving them. I had a crush on Han Solo, and I loved it when Princess Leia kicked butt. I always enjoyed Riker being a lech on The Next Generation, and Wesley Crusher always amused me. I’d have to say I don’t usually have a preference when it comes to the tv shows/movies.

When it comes to video games, however, I’ve definitely got a preference for Star Wars.

Let me share with you with the Sith code:
Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.

So tell me, which do you prefer? Star Wars or Star Trek?

Star Trek! (you can’t fawk with Spock, man and well, the Borg, they are just way too awesome!). I mean I like Star Wars too, (like trying to explain to my mo-in-law about Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader being good, then bad, then good, and why Boba Fett is the coolest and how imperative it is that if you’re going to buy a Star Wars gift and Boba Fett is available, get Boba Fett), but I’m also a science dork and Star Trek’s got that xtra science possibility realness that I crave, and well then we have Stargate, Stargate Atlantis being my favorite (wish they’d bring that back :/ and that they would also bring back the very too short-lived Stargate Universe!). As far as video games go, I’m an Elder Scrolls nerd – got Skyrim not too long ago (insert lil’ girl piggy squeel) and also a Silent Hill freak – waiting for friggen’ Downpour and the HD remake of SH2 and 3!!!

Oh my, I am a HUGE Star Trek fan. I actually didn’t grow up watching it (I’m only 21 XD), but rather was introduced to TNG by an English teacher who had us watch episodes and then write essays on the themes of the episode. I will never forget the day I watched Tapestry and fell in love with the show. It’s grown since then to me having watched every episode of every Star Trek series (save from the animated series).

I’ve never played any of the Star Trek video games though because they just never appealed to me. Most of them are RTSes and I just really don’t like RTSes all that much. I’m more of an action/first person shooter/rpg/horror survival kind of gal XD Currently obsessing over Skyward Sword- which is terrible because I’m trying to study for my biochemistry, molecular genetics and developmental biology finals!! Arg! Last year, it was Portal 2. Needless to say, I probably should have studied much more for organic chemistry XD

I remember seeing Star Wars for the first time–it had been out awhile because I think I’d already gotten the toys (which I still have. And the comic books. And original concept art that my Grandfather got *somehow*). I also remember seeing Eps 5 & 6 for the first time as well, plus “the other ones” lol. Ok I actualy liked Phantom Menace (and got to meet Jake Lloyd, sweetest kid ever).

I’ve also met Boba Fett, Chewie, and R2D2 (names escaping me). Boba Fett is HOT and adorably sweet irl lol.

My son–aptly nicknamed JediBoy on my blogs–is a HUGE star wars fan. He can go head to head against my brother in law (who does SW gaming) on SW Trivial Pursuit and do pretty well–and he’s 9. Me, that game makes me CRY it’s so hard!

And here’s true parental love–my husband gives my son his MINT CONDITION figures as gifts. Like unopened packages. lol

Oh and I grew up Lutheran, so anytime I hear “May the Force be with you” I always want to reply “and also with you” *snort*

Um. Yeah. big Star Wars Geek. Who married a Star Wars/Star Trek Geek. Raising a Star Wars Geek.
