Small Business Saturday – Support Indie!

As you all know I love supporting Indie. Today is Small Business Saturday. I wanted to show you a custom jacket I recently had made through Etsy. I have a problem with most jackets and shrugs that because my shoulders are narrow, they’ll slide off. My shoulders are only about 14″. When I explained this to the nice owner of Jezebel’s Finery, she came up with a jacket pattern that would stay up on my shoulders, that fits my shoulders perfectly and looks cute. I picked out the fabrics, which are black cuddle fleece and contrasting trim of purple snow leopard with fuchsia sparkle. So I got to pick out my own jacket colors and have it custom made to fit me. Love it :)

What do you think of the jacket? What are the reasons you like to support indie?

Product purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

That is wonderful. I have found a few nail polish creators on etsy, so I am almost off the retail crack. lol

      • Phyrra

I love all kinds of nail polish, and just recently purchased my first from Etsy. waiting for it to arrive!

Cute jacket :) That’s what I love most about buying indie – the personal contact and also how you’re able to modify things to fit your needs/wants

      • Phyrra

Yep! It’s great. I sometimes imagine that is how things used to be before the Industrial Revolution :)

That is so cute and looks so snuggly. :)

I want one of these for our trip to Indiana over Christmas. I always get earaches when it’s cold and windy, but I hate ear muffs so this might work well, plus it’s so cute!

      • Phyrra

Her Snoodie style is adorable! That would keep you warm in Indiana ;)

I love the fuchsia sparkle on the snow leopard fabric! The jacket looks super cute and cozy. :)

I like to support indie because I like the idea of supporting actual people rather than corporations. Also, you can find high-quality, unique products that are relatively inexpensive. I’ve had many pleasant surprises recently where I’ve tried something, and it’s like nothing I’ve ever tried before! So, it sort of feels like a treasure hunt sometimes. ^^

      • Phyrra

Yes, it’s cool to support actual people who are living their dream jobs!

That jacket looks so cute on you!

I love to shop indie for many reasons. I love to support people who do what they love, and most indie companies have a passion for what they sell. With indie you can avoid ingredients that you are sensitive to easier. The whole shopping experience is just more personal.

      • Phyrra

        Thanks Christie :)

This is not beauty related, but my husband is a potter and today a locally owned brewery in our town held their first “Local Potters Sale” of which he was a part of. Just today, he was commissioned for several projects in which the customer will be involved in some way with the process of creating their piece of pottery. There are so many talented individuals in this world and our local communities, we just have to search for them(which is half the fun!)

      • Phyrra

        OMG that’s cool!

    • Marcey

love this. it’s soo cute & very you!!
And as for Indie I promote it any time I can. I can’t believe the number of things I buy from people on the internet who work from home.

        Thanks Marcey!

Man I would sport that jacket in a hot minute – it actually looks warm and cuddly – and I’ve always been all about the animal prints!!

      • Phyrra

You could get one made :) She does all custom stuff!

That is SO CUTE! I wish I could find more Indies who did clothes for us bigger gals ;)

I love supporting Indie because most of the time, you’re not just a order number. And since I have my own (floundering) Indie, I feel good about supporting small businesses. Plus you can find things you can’t find elsewhere–or they will do custom work for you (as you said).

And you usually get a very good deal for your money–I’ve been pleased with almost every single indie company I’ve shopped with on Etsy.

      • Phyrra

I would contact her because she takes custom measurements!

I don’t know why this occurred to me, but this would be perfect for air travel- easy on easy off for the fluctuating temps! I think my thought just means I’m ready for some travel!

      • Phyrra

You should take a fun trip!
