Candy Cult Nails

I played around with lots of Cult Nail polishes on Saturday. I finally got to try out Cult Nails Get It On base coat and Wicked Fast top coat! I love the base coat! I tried to do another gradient, but it wasn’t as successful as my last. Still, it was fun :) I need to learn how to blend the edges of the polish better.

So for my accent finger, I did the following:

Cult Nails Get It On base coat
Butter London Disco Biscuit- 3/4 of nail
Cult Nails Mind Control – 1/4 of nail
Kat Von D Wonderchild – 1/2 of nail
Butter London Frilly Knickers – all of nail
Cult Nails Wicked Fast top coat

For the rest of my nails:
Cult Nails Get It On base coat
Cult Nails My Kind of Kool Aid – 3/4 of nail
Cult Nails Mind Control – 1/4 of nail
Kat Von D Wonderchild – 1/2 of nail
Butter London Frilly Knickers – all of nail
Cult Nails Wicked Fast top coat

I liked the monochromatic look of the main nails, but I felt the colors look more blended on the accent nails.

What do you think of the color combinations? Any tips for how to blend the gradient better? Any new nail tutorials I should check out?

I really like how this looks. Kind of makes me think like a different sort of candy corn! Haha. :)

If you paint a different layer while the polish is still a bit wet, it might blend better. It also might smear unattractively and mix the colors on your brush, contaminating your polish. Experimentation is needed here. Other gradient nails that I’ve seen are done with sponges so there isn’t a line where one color ends.

      I’ve gotta get sponges :)

You get a little less visible lines when you use a more sheer color. As Daintynymph mentioned, sponging is another option.
I also agree with Chriselle that this looks like unconventional candy corn!

This is pretty- I like the visible gradient!
And the colors remind me of those long strips of lollypops in cellophane that you can get at the grocery store for a dollar :)

Really pretty! Love those colors together!

You could use an inexpensive makeup sponge–tear off a tiny bit, use tweezers. For a more brushed look, I got a set of nail brushes really cheap off e*b*ay so you don’t mix your polishes. I haven’t tried the brush method yet. Sponging is a bit messier but looks cool too.

Check out youtube, you’ll find plenty of tutorials there!
