MAC Daphne Guiness & Iris Apfel

Recently MAC released two collection that caught my eye, Daphne Guiness and Iris Apfel. From Daphne Guiness, I knew I wanted the ombré blushes, so I picked up both Azalea Blossom and Vintage Grape. I’ve been wearing Vintage Grape, a sort of violet plum, almost non-stop. It’s darker than I normally wear, but I feel it’s flattering on me when applied with a light hand. Azalea Blossom is a lovely soft shade of pink. From Iris Apfel I picked up Party Parrot, though I had my eye on Flamingo and Pink Pigeon. I ultimately passed on Pink Pigeon because I have a lot of bright pinks. Sadly, Flamingo was sold out by the time I got home and logged on to purchase. I did end up trying to track Flamingo down in store, as I went to International Plaza in Tampa to get it. However, I was told that they were sold out by noon. I would have been completely disappointed by that if I hadn’t remembered that I just recently picked up a full size of Venomous Cosmetics Lip Poison in Flamingo. While lip poisons are a gloss, they’re quite pigmented, and this shade is similar enough to suit my needs.

$26 for 9 g /.31 US oz blush ombre
$14.50 for 3 g / 0.1 US oz lipstick

Shade Descriptions:
MAC Azalea Blossom (Daphne Guiness) – light cool pink
MAC Vintage Grape (Daphne Guiness) – mid-tone violet pink
MAC Party Parrot (Iris Apfel) – bright red-pink (matte)

I really do like the blushes and I feel like it’s a pretty good amount of product for the price. I like the lipstick, especially since it’s a matte. Matte + bright = fun :)

Out of the many, many collections released by MAC lately, I think that these are two of the best, probably because of their muses, Daphne and Iris.

Did you see anything you had to have from these two collections? If so, what called your name?

Products purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

I really love the lipstick shades from this collection, but I feel like they wouldn’t be *completely* unique to my collection – not identical to ones I own but too similar probably. But I am loving all the blog posts featuring them, because they’re some of my fave lippie colors. Bright hot lips FTW!

Yeah bright hot lips are awesome :)

Those hombre blushes look interesting! I didn’t pick anything up from these collections. Guess nothing really caught my eye.

      • Phyrra

        I think they’re gorgeous!

I’ve been reallyyyy wanting those blushes, but my birthday’s coming up in less than a month so I think I might drop a few hints around my mom and see if she picks them up for me. =] And that lipstick looks INCREDIBLE! I’m such a fan of bright colors!

      • Phyrra

I would highly recommend the blushes!

      Both very nice blush colors!
But it’s so exhausting and frustrating to hunt down some of these limited edition items over here that I have given up on it already.. too bad :(

      • Phyrra

I agree. I get frustrated with how fast they sell out.

I was really lemming the Iris Apfel lipsticks, but they sold out within hours….just like everything else worth grabbing from MAC. As each collection goes by, I bother less and less, even though I really love their lipsticks. Sigh. Well, I’m looking forward to Morgana’s new lipsticks!

Yeah I’m getting sick of the LE stuff selling out before I can get home from work.

I got Heather/Eyeconic to CP me a bit of stuff from Daphne Guinness, I got both blush ombres, Warp Speed Prolongwear Lip Creme and then Narcissus Cremesheen Glass. She also got me Party Parrot from Iris Apfel, and I’m praying Pink Pigeon is restocked online so I can get that too. :)

      • Phyrra

I’ve been looking for Pink Pigeon to be restocked but haven’t seen it happen yet.
