When MAC Vera came out I was enchanted with the Butterfly Party crushed metal stack. I ended up picking that up, as well as the Petrol Blue Pearlglide. The crushed metals have an unusual texture to work with, but they’re definitely metallic, pigmented and pretty.
Price:
$34 for 12 g / 0.42 US oz for the crushed metal stack
$15 for 1.2 g / .04 US oz for the pearlglide intense eye liner
$15 for 3 g / 0.1 US oz for the cook fluidline
Butterfly Party Crushed Metallic Pigments
Butterfly Party – bright lilac (frost)
Desert Cloud – deep blue purple (frost)
Rain Drop – metallic teal (frost)
Moss Garden – metallic silver green (frost)
Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner
Petrol Blue – deep navy with pearl
Fluidline
Midnight Snack – charcoal grey with silver (I couldn’t help but swatch this again, it’s so pretty!)
I actually love all four of the pigment colors, including Moss Garden. I wasn’t sure if I’d like that one or not until I saw it swatched. I really need to try a look with it. It reminds me a bit of the Pearlglide liner in Industrial. I like Petrol Blue because it’s got a gorgeous deep navy blue base with bright pearly turquoise/aqua blue sparkles (to my eyes).
I might try using Moss Garden on the lid and inner crease, with a deep charcoal grey at the outer corner and outer crease, followed up with Midnight Snack along my outer lash line.
Do you see any colors you like? Do you prefer loose pigments or pressed shadows these days?

Hello Cotton
That pigment stack is so pretty! Exactly the colours I’d go for.

They are super pretty! I’m surprised by how much I liked them once I wore them.
Desert Cloud is very pretty. I don’t know if I would buy the whole stack for it, but would definitely snatch it up if it were available alone. I also love Petrol Blue, so much that I bought it off another blogger back right after it sold out from the Tartan Tale collection. I almost bought a couple more of the Pearlglides last weekend, but at the last minute got some will power and walked away.

They are definitely lovely. I haven’t had a mac pencil liner in a long time.
Every time I see Petrol Blue I want it more and more! The crushed metal stack is really pretty, but I don’t usually like to work with loose shadows – it’s too much effort for me
It has to be something extra extra super special for me to make the effort to work with a loose shadow instead of a pressed shadow.

They do take extra effort!
I was eyeing these on the MAC website the other day! The stuff from the Shop/Cook collections didn’t interest me too much, but I was loving the Vera collection!
These are definitely cute!
great swatches! I always appreciate your reviews, especially when you give us ideas on what colors you would like to try using for a look. I noticed in the last few paragraphs that you wrote Moss Green instead of Moss Garden, just wanted to let you know
Thank you for letting me know. I think I’ve fixed all the typos
I really appreciate hearing that you like to know the color combos I think about! I’m wearing this one today.
I picked up the Butterfly Party stack, too. I love the finish on the crushed metals. They are one of those products that you can swatch on your hand and just want to stare at forever lol. Can’t wait for your look with these! I really need to get to a counter to swatch the pearlglides.
Hope you liked it
PLEASE PLEASE do several different looks with your crushed metal pigments! There seems to be a shortage of creative looks online using the crushed metals, so that would be so helpful!!
I’ll certainly try
I bought both this set and Strawberry Patch, too. I find myself using loose pigments more often lately… I keep buying Meow eyeshadows… I think I am addicted, lol!
I am fighting the temptation to go back and buy the Aloha set…
I’ve used Moss Garden with dark teals as well as greys… really pretty!

Meow’s is gorgeous!
I recently swatched this and… want it so badly lol

It’s definitely pretty Anna!
I love all four of these! I don’t like the chunkiness of MAC’s pigments lately, but there’s no denying the colours are amazing.
Yeah these are definitely chunky, but quite pretty.
They look gorgeous! It was loose mineral pigments that got me hooked on makeup a few years ago, but nowadays I go more for pressed shadows, at least for my everyday looks as it’s a bit more convenient. But I do love my Meow shadows..

Meow Shadows are awesome
I want want want Butterfly Party and midnight snack. I have petrol blue, but I don’t like the pearlglide liners since the glitter irritates my eyes a bit. Thanks for the swatches!! I really do love them.

Glad you like them Molly
I am waiting on this to come in the mail. I split it with a friend. I used some duochrome metallics last week and I hate how they look on me. They seem to make my eyelid look super wrinkled and saggy. It looked awful. I may have to pass these along if they do the same.
Aww I hope the ones you bought work for you!
