Tarina Tarantino Eye Dream Highlight Duo in Jasper and Agate

As soon as I saw these go live on Sephora’s site, I snapped this eye shadow duo up, mostly because I fell in love with Sparklicity Opal and Nude. These highlighting duos are made to use with other shadows, to highlight the inner corners of the eye or under the browbone, as opposed to be worn on their own. However, I’m sure they could be used for a wash of color on their own if you desired.

The Website claims:
These shadows deliver a gorgeous pearlized metallic finish to the eye. The reflective properties of diamond dust and micro-fine platinum powder diffuse light, creating a luminous soft focus effect. Plus, each shadow’s smooth texture blends easily and feels silky soft on the skin.

Ingredients:
Talc, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Zinc Stearate, Dimenthicone, Lauroyl Lysine, Silica, Glyceryl Caprylate, Methicone, Polymethylsilsequioxane, Platnum, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Triethoxycaprylysiane, Carmine (Ci 75470). May Contain +/-: Mica, Ioron Oxides (Ci 77491, 77492, Ci 77499), Titanium Dioxide (Ci 77891), Aluminum Power (Ci77000). Contains Carmine As A Color Additive.

Price:
$19 for net wt. 2 x 0.13 oz / 3.6 g / 3.6 g

Shades Available:
Jasper / Agate – soft golden beige/ muted light fawn
Elektron / Amber – bright champagne/ bright copper
Mr. Silver / Mr. Gold – yellow gold / icy silver
Moon Opal / Iris Plume – light plum / frosted lilac

I purchased Jasper Agate and I find I really like it.

First, Jasper is a fantastic light gold-beige highlighter on me. Applied lightly it adds natural looking luminosity to my inner eye or browbone. Applied more heavily, it adds a pearl-like lustre. Agate seems to be more of a pale peach-beige, which isn’t bad. I think both shades make great highlighters.

Second, the size on these shadows seem really generous. A typical pan of MAC is .05 oz (1.5g) and these are .13 oz (3.6 g) each, so you’re getting .26 oz for $19. Each side is twice as large as a typical MAC shadow. To buy 4 MAC refills pans at $11.50 each you’d end up paying $46.

Overall, I feel like is duo is a good value for the price. I really like the colors in this duo. I definitely feel like the duo lives up to its claims.

Would I purchase again?
I think it will take me forever to use up this particular duo but I would definitely consider purchasing it again if I ran out. I’m toying with the idea of purchasing Moon Opal and Iris Plume.

What do you think of Jasper and Agate? What do you think about Tarina Tarantino? Would you use these shades?

This is really, really pretty. I was at Sephora yesterday and I played around with some of the Tarina Tarantino shadows, and they really do seem to be fantastic quality – I’d never actually played w them in person before.
