This is for the Never Too Much Sparkle Weekly challenge, 80s Inspired. I decided to do a tape mani after seeing this awesome one here. My cuticles look awful and dried out, and trying to clean up my edges was so frustrating. I need to find the new pointed Q-tips to use to clean up edges. Using the orange stick with tissue and nail polish remover made things weird. bleh.
I started with Cult Nails Get it On Base Coat. This is my go-to base coat now. Love it.
I used Milani 1 coat white in White on the Spot for the base color. I probably still should have done 2 coats, but it’s a pretty good one coat white and it dries FAST!.
For the orange nails I used China Glaze Sun Worshiper.
For the hot pink nail I used China Glaze Pool Party.
For the blue nail I used Color Club Pure Energy.
For the purple nail I used Rescue Beauty Lounge Scrangie.
I added iridescent nail stars that I picked up from Sally’s Beauty Supply.
For my top coat I used Orly Sec n’ Dry top coat.
Doing the tape mani was easy and I like it
I need to practice more with my nails to perfect cleaning up the cuticle. I’m so envious that it seems like everyone does it perfectly and I suck so badly at it sometimes.
I really like this mani and definitely feel it fits the 80s. So much fun
What do you think of tape manis? How do you like this 80s inspired neon one?
Some products purchased by me. Milani White on the Spot sent for consideration. All opinions are my own.

This is so cute and colorful! I love the little stars.
Thank you Heather!
Cute! And definitely 80s in the best way.
Yay! Like, totally <3
Truly, truly outrageous.
Hehe thank you Amber!
Tee hee! Thanks Wendi!
You did great. I think your cuticles look fine but if you ever need to feel a bit better, check out my nail post for some awfully un-cleaned-up nails, lol. I am always so worried that if I don’t take pictures 5 minutes after I paint, I’m not going to get a chance before they chip.
Ha- Amber got to it first, but I’ll repeat it. Truly outrageous!
Oh, and before you run out and get pointy q-tips, try a toothpick and a cotton ball. Just lay the tip of the toothpick in the ball and twist it to pick up a swath of cotton. When you’ve picked up just a bit, roll it between your fingers to tighten the cotton around the toothpick, then dip in remover & go. In my experience, this works better than any other clean-up tool because the toothpick is a much finer point than any q-tip or orange stick. Plus, cheap!
I’ll give that a try. Thanks for the tip!
So cute! Definitely very 80′s; Miami 80′s in particular. I remember cousins sporting these same colours and wearing chunky star jewelry. I’ve been drooling over the tape mani pics, so it’s great to hear it’s easy to do!
Yay thanks Cathryn!
This looks so cute, love it. I almost expected a photo of you with big bangs and pair of high tops with no less than 3 pairs of mismatched socks!
LOL! I remember the socks!
Ohhh, I never heard of a tape mani before. This seems like a fun idea to try and probably far less messy then my foray into water marbling…hmm
@Shelby Like Oh My God Mismatched layered scrunchie socks! I haven’t thought of those in years..even better if they were day-glo. That’s it, I need to go listen to some WHAM!
I need to try water marbling!
I absolutely love this mani, it’s super cute! Awesome :))
Thank you Judi! Hug Mia for me!
