Benefit “Hello Flawless!” Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation Review

Several months ago HSN had Benefit “Hello Flawless!” Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation available by pre-order on their website. I snatched up I’m Pure 4 Sure Ivory to give it a try.

The Website Claims:
A brightening, oil-free liquid foundation with SPF 25 PA+++ protection.
This natural-finish foundation builds from light to medium coverage for a natural complexion and features light-diffusing properties and hydrating benefits. Its nourishing formula contains Benefit’s exclusive Oxygen Wow Hydrating Complex, which helps boost cellular respiration for a “plumping up” effect, protects against environmental stresses, and contains vitamin C and E derivatives known to prevent the signs of aging.

What does PA+++ mean? SPF stands for the protection grade of the UVB filter. PA stands for the protection grade of the UVA filter. The highest standard of sun protection rating is the three-star PA rating. Benefit’s foundation has three stars, which translates to the highest level of protection.

Wearing Ivory on my t-zone and eyes. Applied sparsely I can blend it in very well.

Does it live up to its claims?
Sort of. I can’t say that I feel like it plumps my skin. I do feel like it gives me a GREAT finish, almost what I would call an airbrushed look with the way it smooths and diffuses light. It feels nice on the skin. While I like the finish of I’m Pure 4 Sure Ivory, I find myself wishing it was a bit lighter. It’s darker than I like. Of course, I can mix it with FaceAtelier white liquid foundation to make it a perfect match.

Wearing Ivory all over. You can see how my face has more color than my neck.

Would I purchase again?
Maybe. I really like the finish, a lot. I think this is a really nice foundation. My only hesitation is the fact that it’s a touch darker than I like, but I do find it pretty easy to work with. It’s easy for me to correct by mixing it with another foundation, but that is why I’d be hesitant to purchase again. That said, if any of these shades are a perfect match for you, I’d say purchase it! It’s beautiful on the skin.

Wearing Ivory all over here.

I often find that getting a colour light enough is a problem for me with Benefit (in their concealers). The finish does look beautiful on you, though, so I might try it out this summer, when I’ll inevitably have a little more colour.

I was just watching an HSN presentation of this last night. I was really intrigued. Thanks for your review! I am concerned because the color selection looks like they maybe too warm for me. I do want to go try some out at Ulta or Sephora, and see if I can find a match. I was really impressed with the finish of this.

I loved the finish as well, it was so smooth and lightweight and really did look like my skin (only perfected!) when blended in well. My only two qualms were that I also need it to be a little bit lighter to be a perfect match, and that it is not very long-wearing on my oily skin. :-(

I’m really impressed with the finish! Have you tried it with a primer? I’m curious how long it would last for you with one.

From what I’ve heard, titanium dioxide does not cover the whole UVA-spectrum. So I would use something underneath in the summer (maybe a zinc-based sunscreen), Thanks for the review!

      • Phyrra

I always use moisturizer with SPF underneath my foundation :) I use LaVanila SPF 40

I really, really, REALLY want to give this foundation a go. Unfortunately, being a Canadian, I still haven’t seen it in stores yet! Sephora keeps telling me “Oh maybe next week” and then they don’t have it. I really wish they’d just call me or something XD

      • Phyrra

Can you sign up to be notified by email when it’s in store by you?

You’re just maybe a teeny bit darker than me but with the same pink undertones and when I swatched this, it was pure yellow! Maybe it was the lighting in Ulta, but I couldn’t believe it was their lightest shade. It was a shame because I loved the texture of it.

So you’re finding if you blend it really well you don’t notice that it’s a bit darker than what you’d normally go for? Maybe I should get a sample and give it a try.

      • Phyrra

I actually have a mix of undertones, so neutral or neutral leaning slightly warm works best on me. Too much pink is bad. This is a touch darker than I like, like the Too Faced foundation that has this sort of awesome finish, but I can correct it with powder. Definitely try a sample.

@hazakaza I have only slightly oily skin and it’s horrible on it. I wish I never spent out money on it. If you have dry skin it would be amazing. It just slides off and makes my face look greasy :(

@Tazzatazzmania  @hazakaza I have combination skin, oily t-zone, and it was fine for me, but everyone’s skin is different. Right now I would recommend the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation because that stuff is amazing.
