Earlier this year I purchased Redken Powder Grip Mattifying Hair Powder from my favorite salon, Cameo. My stylist Lori had been raving about how much I would love it. And she’s right. I do love it. So let me tell you why.
The Website Claims:
Gives hair a modern matte finish with amazing texture and fullness, and adds grip to prep hair for long-lasting updos.
How to Use:
Shake directly onto roots for targeted volume. To add body and texture to the mid-lengths and ends, shake onto hands and work through hair.
*powder grip 03 is a highly concentrated formula, so only a small amount is needed to achieve noticeable results.
Does it live up to its claims?
Yes! OMG this stuff is awesome! My hair is straight, fine, and bordering on thin. I don’t have a lot. So I want volume or I look flat. I just lift it up and I have awesome hair! Watch my little video demo below.
This works really well on my short hair but I think it would work equally well to give volume to long hair. It also recommends using to help an updo stay up.
Would I purchase again?
Yes! This is now my favorite styling product of all time! It seriously gives me the volume I crave when I use it. It’s awesome. It doesn’t make my hair feel bad at the end of the day, it gives me volume, it gives me hold. If it slips at all, I just rub my fingers against my scalp and va va voom! I’ve got volume again.
Once I run out, I’m purchasing this again, and again and again. This is a really awesome product for me.
Product purchased by me. All opinions are my own.
Hey thanks a lot for blogging about this…
You’re welcome Alina!
Oh, this sounds really interesting. I have very thin hair too and could sometimes use extra volume at my roots! Is this substantially different from dry shampoo?
Yeah it’s not like a dry shampoo. The dry shampoos that I’ve tried soak up oil and dirt, and while they can create a bit of volume, they don’t give a lot. This gives a lot of volume and some hold.
Great tip, I love poofy hair I used to own several other redken products in the past and I was never disappointed, so I think this will be great when the weight of my hair starts wearing it down as it grows longer.
I’m a total Redken convert! I also love my volume.
I have a similar product by Got 2 Be. I wonder how they compare?
I would love to know! Does it apply the same way? This is basically a powder and when you rub it, it sort of emulsifies and adds volume and hold.
I have the Got2Be and one by Aveda, and they both sound pretty similar to this one. The G2B is very inexpensive, though, especially if it’s on sale!
