A while ago I received several products from Marc Anthony True Professional Hair Care to try out, including the Marc Anthony Dream Waves Collection. I was quite excited by this as I already loved my Marc Anthony Bye Bye Frizz Keratin Smoothing products. Marc Anthony True Professional is sold at Ulta and Drugstore.com.
I always crave volume and texture with my hair since it’s straight and borders on fine and thin. I love the idea of adding volume, texture and body.
Amplifying Shampoo – $6.99
Gently cleanses while adding texture so that you can easily work up extra beach waves.
Formulated with Conditioning Polymers to add body to limp hair, create a wavy bounce and block humidity for longer lasting style. Hydrolyzed Silk and Provitamin B5 add shine. Restores fullness. UV Protectors. Sulfate-free. Sexy beach hair made easy!
Amplifying Conditioner – $6.99
Ultra-lightweight formula adds body to straight or wavy hair to help create soft, voluminous waves. It prepares your hair for a full day of volume and texture. Conditioning Polymers add body, create a wavy bounce and block humidity. Hydrolyzed Silk and Provitamin B5 add shine. Restores fullness. UV Protectors. Sulfate-free. Sexy beach hair made easy!
Amplifying Lotion – $7.99
When it comes to waves, ‘go big or go home’. Get super amplified waves, extra flowing movement and texture. The lightweight formula transforms straight or wavy hair to create texture, volume and intensified waves. Hydrolyzed Silk and Provitamin B5 adds a sophisticated polish. Restores fullness. UV Protectors. Voluminous beach hair made easy!
Beach Spray – $8.99
Create natural, effortless, beach hair worn loose, soft and wavy. It adds body and texture to straight, fine strands or pumps up the curl in already wavy hair. Add extra definition to your wavy layers. Hydrolyzed Silk and Provitamin B5 protect your tresses while adding moisture and shine. Powerful UV Protectors absorb ultraviolet light to save your mane from harmful sun exposure, dehydration and color-fade. You’re left with manageable, touchable waves. Even the straightest hair can achieve tousled beach hair any time of year.
So as a reminder, my hair is fine and stick straight. In general, I’m ok with this. Sometimes I wish for glorious, naturally curly hair, but for the most part I’ve learned to embrace my straight hair and love it. I do however have to fight with Florida’s humidity on occasion. Additionally, I color my hair (gasp! I know, you’d never guess that!), so I want my color preserved and extra moisture added.
The Website Claims:
Amplify your hair into voluminous waves with tons of movement and texture. Whether your hair is straight or wavy, get natural looking carefree waves with this texture boosting collection.
Does it live up to its claims?
This line definitely does give volume and I think if I tried to style waves it would give me some as it does help with body. The shampoo in this line is my least favorite from the Marc Anthony products (I’ve tried the Bye Bye Frizz and the Oil of Morocco). while the shampoo smells yummy to me (this whole line smells amazing), it stole more color out of my hair than either the Bye Bye Frizz or the Oil of Morocco. I think if you’re using semi-permanent color like I am, you may want to avoid this shampoo and conditioner.
I liked the Amplifying Lotion for adding volume and texture to my hair. While it doesn’t give me waves, it does help with body.
The Beach Spray made my hair feel dry, so it’s not something I would use often, but it does texturize the hair. I just prefer to get my texture through things like the Amplifying Lotion and a blow dryer, or hair powder.
I think if you have wavy or curly hair, you should check out this line. It’s a great buy for the price. If you have straight hair and want to add some body, this is worth checking out. If you have semi-permanent colored hair, I’d suggest skipping the shampoo and the beach spray. I took off a star for the colored hair issues and half a star for the Beach Spray making me feel dry.
