Orly Flash Glam FX Nail Polishes Swatches & Review

One of the coolest new lines that I got to see on Sunday was the Orly Flash Glam FX Nail polishes! These are meant for layering. Orly suggests black, but you could really do it with any color.

Row 1 = Monster Mash – It’s Electric – Sunglasses at Night
Row 2 = Sashay My Way – Be Brave – Can’t Be Tamed

Orly Be Brave

Orly Sashay My Way

Orly It’s Electric

Orly Sunglasses at Night

Orly Monster Mash

Orly Can’t Be Tamed

All swatches on the nail wheel are 3 swatches of glitter.

I GASPED out loud when I saw Orly Sunglasses at Night in the bottle and had to have it! It has a clear base with black holographic bar glitter and teeny tiny little circles. It looks AMAZING in the bottle.

Orly It’s Electric has a clear base with electric blue bar holographic glitter and round glitter pieces. It really reminds me of Urban Decay 24/7 liner in Electric. It’s a fantastic color for summer.

Orly Monster Mash has a sheer green base with hexagon green glitter particles, tiny gold glitter particles, tiny gold bar glitter, and holographic micro glitter pieces. It’s enchanting in the bottle.

Orly Can’t Be Tamed has a clear base with black and purple glitter. I think this would be awesome on top of a white base.

Orly Be Brave has a slightly tinted pink sheer see through base with pink holographic bar glitter. It’s one of the most holographic of the bunch.

Orly Sashay My Way was one that I picked up and said ‘mine!’ It’s gorgeous gold holographic hexagon pieces and holographic bars. Love!

I played around with the colors, too. I used a base of Cult Nails Nevermore, my perfect one coat black.

This is Can’t Be Tamed with a coat of Orly Prisma Gloss in Silver on top on my thumb.

L to R – It’s Electric – Monster Mash – Sashay My Way – Sunglasses at Night.
They each have a coat of Orly Prisma Gloss in Silver on top.

L to R – The Hungry Asian Sea Creature – Be Brave – Sashay My Way
They each have a coat of Orly Prisma Gloss in Silver on top.

I need to figure out the best color to layer underneath Sunglasses at Night, because it shines in the bottle but I can’t get that to translate to the nail. As I mentioned above, I think  Can’t be Tamed would be awesome on top of a white creme, but maybe a grey or orange, too. It’s Electric, Monster Mash and Sashay My Way all look great on top of black, and they look awesome on top of teal-blue, too. Be Brave might be fun on top of a red or purple, but it looks great on black as well.

Additionally, maybe because I did a layer of Prisma gloss, then 2 layers of top coat on the nails, when I went to remove them using my nail polish remover jar with the bristles inside it, they weren’t too bad to remove. Most of the time I hate removing glitters.

To me, the Flash Glam FX collection is the most exciting collection that Orly has released in a long time! There are a total of 22 polishes and they retail for $10 each.

What do you think of the Orly Flash Glam FX collection? Do you like any of these lacquers?

Products purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

I saw these at Sally’s! I think these are gorgeous, but I have trouble making this kind of glitter look right on me.

Love the look of these, have such a thing for bar glitter at the mo. Thanks for all the swatches great job now just have to wait for a UK release!

    • Sandy

It would be awesome if they put together a set of mini’s of these. Ten bucks a pop is going to add up if you want more than one. :/ ^^

These are AWESOME! I love each and every one of them. And they all look great against the black base polish.

I love sashay my way and be brave! And I agree, this is one of the most interesting collections since the cosmic fx collection.

If you have Revlon Royal you should Try Sunglasses at Night over that. I swear EVERYTHING looks good over Revlon Royal lol.

      • Chantel

        OMG #TRUTH!

Revlon Royal is my go to polish for layering! Especially under flakies!

    • vige

      can’t wait to get these!

    • The Peach

22 polishes!? When I convinced the girl at my Sallys to bring these out of the back for me, she only brought 6. I love Be Brave!

    • AmyAmethyst

These are really cool looking! I wonder if Sunglasses at Night would stand out more over a lighter color, maybe a silver? Monster Mash is really catching my eye and Can’t Be Tamed because I love anything purple!

What about layering Sunglasses over Sweet Peacock or Stone Cold? I love using those two as bases for glitters.
      Awesome swatches!

are these on the shelves now? or when is the release date?

      • Phyrra

I’ve heard that these are already out on the shelves at Sally’s Beauty Supply. So if they’re not out yet they should be soon.

Sashay My Way totally caugh tmy eye at Sally’s last night but it was like $10..or around there. I will probably end up buying it but I have so many glitters that I hesitated & walked out with another Orly shade at half the price. I LOVE glitters though & hope NP companies keep busting them out.

    • Carla

Mm glitter. I have never bought one of those little bristle tub thingys partly because I feel like the remover would get filled up with glitter and old polish and get gross. Do you find that ever happens? Do you clean it out and put more remover in or just toss the whole thing?

      • Phyrra

Sadly you have to toss them, they’re not really refillable :( they don’t get filled up but eventually the jar / acetone gets to where you’re either low on the fluid or it’s icky.

O.O OH. MY. GOD. I saw these at Sally’s and nabbed one of each of the glitters from the display but now I totally want to cry because Sunglasses At Night wasn’t in the display! *wince*

I can’t believe the super sweet girl that always helps me at Sally’s didn’t tell me about Sunglasses At Night! :( She knows about my polish obsession, lol. I thought I got the whole collection considering there was a black cream in the display (for a total of 6 different polishes).

There are two types of glitter that I go extra bananas for: square glitter and black glitter. I am now on a mission to find Sunglasses At Night. I can’t believe I didn’t realize there was another glitter in the collection, ack! :’(

On a happier note, I am soooooo in love with these! They are sparkly and gorgeous! Your swatches are amazing! When I saw your pics it was total *swooooon*. :D I’m so thrilled to see Orly doing glitters like this!!!

Love these! But my Sally’s didn’t have Sunglasses At Night, Monster Mash, or It’s Electric. I’ve been to 3 different Sally’s and they all have the same exact display with Sashay My Way, Be Brave, Can’t Be Tamed, Mermaid Tale, and Spazmatic. The displays even had the names of the polishes written on the slots.

Do you know where I can buy Monster Mash, It’s Electric, and Sunglasses At Night?

    • http://www.logicalharmony.net Tashina

These are so cute!!! I’ll have to pick one up. I love that Orly is vegan!

    • MorganNewman

Sunglasses at Night looks awesome! I just got Can’t Be Tamed, it looks really cool over a gray apparently…
