I’ve been asked many times what plugins I use for my blog, so I wanted to share my personal list of best wordpress plugins for beauty bloggers with you. I know that this is only for WordPress (and likely specific to self-hosted on WordPress), but I thought it might be helpful.
My spam prevention plugin.
A plugin that makes archive act like blogger.
This is to allow anyone who comments on my blog to share their most recent post if they’re registered with CommentLuv. This is a GREAT plugin. It is responsible for cutting back on the number of beauty bloggers who would leave ‘come check out my blog’ links on my blog.
This is for social media sharing in posts. I use this at the top of my posts instead of 2 separate plugins like I used to have. It’s extremely customizable. I don’t have it floating because it sometimes causes bugs with ipads and other tables. I’m not sure if it’s working properly for Pinterest.
This allows me to put all my social media profiles into the sidebar. I can also customize it and add profiles that aren’t listed. It’s really great.
Google XML Sitemaps
for better indexing in google and bing
Greg’s High Performance SEO
This makes it easier to optimize posts for SEO.
This displays recommended stories at the bottom of posts. This is supposed to link relevant posts within a post so that if you liked the post, you can more easily find other posts like it.
MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer
This keeps my blog from being marked as a ping spammer. I’m not sure if this one is still needed.
Pinterest RSS Widget
This displays my latest pins. I love this! So cute!
This adds a notice to the bottom of my feed items indication my copyright. It’s been buggy recently because I can’t get in to edit my message.
Taxonomy List Widget
This allows for my tags down the right side of my blog.
This allows for database backup, repair and optimizing and other useful stuff.
WP Missed Schedule
This is to help prevent posts from missing their scheduled time.
A plugin which formats your site with a mobile theme for visitors on Apple iPhone / iPod touch, Google Android, Blackberry Storm and Torch, Palm Pre and other touch-based smartphones.
As always, I would love to know what makes up your best wordpress plugins list! Are there ones you think I need to check out? Are there ones you think I should cut? Please share!

Phyrra You are a wealth of blogger knowledge! Thank you for all your help. :DD
@KimberlyisHere You’re quite welcome!!!
I’m always keen to read about plugins that other bloggers recommend. Thanks! I’m a big fan of Comment Luv too. I use Social Media Widget (wordpress) to display links to my Facebook etc and it’s pretty good because you can get it to link to whatever service you like and upload your own images/buttons. However you dont need that one as yours are (cleverly!) in the header!
@beautstoryblog Yeah I think CommentLuv is fantastic!
I’m so happy that you do these weekly roundups because I would have missed this post. Thanks for the tips.
@AleyaBamdad You’re welcome I’m glad you find them helpful!
Wow; I didn’t realize WP was that customizable!
@memorymachine Yes it is very customizable! That’s why I chose it
Ah this info is seriously so useful. I’m just starting out with blogging, trying to contribute to spreading the word about cruelty-free resources and products, and there is just so much to learn, sometimes it can feel overwhelming. I appreciate this so much!
@Catherine bcf You’re welcome! I’m glad you can find it helpful. I agree that it can be so overwhelming.

Thanks for sharing. I was after a plugin that can optimize my blog for smartphone devices and wptouch is exactly what I was after. You saved my time by sharing this :)
Now thats a load of plugins. You missed a cache plugin! which makes a WordPress blog faster.
@hse What is a cache plugin?
thank you for sharing this list of wordpress plugins
thank you for sharing this terrific list of WP plugins…things I didn’t even know I needed. Also, thanks for other great ideas that I didn’t know were possible on a WP blog like posting recent pins, love that. Finally, did you use a plugin to list your most recent posts/most popular posts/comments/tags in a block in your sidebar? If so, can you share that? It is a terrific format. Love your blog. Will follow. ty again
Good picks, Phyrra. I’m a huge fan of LinkWithin and I notice that your blog uses five thumbnails. Mine currently uses only three. I’m considering copying you. More chances to intrigue readers!
