Femme Fatale Cosmetics Duochrome Shadows Swatches & Review

A while black Femme Fatale Cosmetics had a sale, and I snapped up a few mini-jars. I hadn’t picked up anything from them since Christmas, so I was excited to try out a few new shades.

Femme Fatale Cosmetics Swatches and Review

I purchased mini-jars of Archangel, Genesis, Dreamstate, Spirit Bond, and Polymorph. I also picked up samples of Tranquil blush and Golden Lotus illuminator. I received free samples of Faerie Fire and Dispersion.

An Egyptian blue with dazzling blue sparks and colour-shifting shimmer which alternates between purple and blue depending on the angle of the light.
My Take
Deep blue with purple undertones and blue-teal iridescence.

A soft sea foam turquoise with light golden shimmer.
My Take
Minty-turquoise with soft golden sheen.

A translucent yellow-toned ivory eye shadow complimented violet duochrome.
My Take
Light yellow-toned beige with pink-violet iridescence.

Golden Lotus (illuminator)
Golden Lotus is a soft vanilla-gold illuminator, and the teeniest hint of small shimmer particles to create a glow on your skin, while the satin finish brightens up the face by reflecting light.
My Take
Warm light vanilla with soft gold sheen. This is AMAZING.

Spirit Bond
A deep midnight blue with strong purple undertones and a shimmery golden finish.
My Take
Deep purple with blackened-bronze and gold iridescence.

A blueish grey based eye shadow, colour shifting shimmer.
My Take
Midtone grey with golden turquoise shimmer.

A deep mulberry with bold teal blue shimmer.
My Take
Plum purple with teal iridescence.

Faerie Fire
A soft lavender pink with cool undertones, highlighted by a electric lime gold sparkles.
My Take
Light lavender with lime and gold sparkles.

Tranquil (blush)
A soft beige based coral blush with a hint of rose, Tranquil has a subtle copper duochrome shine.
My Take
Beige with a hint of coral and rose and subtle copper/gold. Really love this.

Wearing Genesis on the upper inner crease.

Wearing Polymorph and Archangel.

$5.75 full size eyeshadow
$3.00 mini jar, no sifter eyeshadow
$3.10 mini jar, sifter eyeshadow
$1.10 sample baggie eyeshadow / blush
$8.00 full size blush

Wearing Golden Lotus and Tranquil.

Wearing Tranquil on my cheeks, with a tiny pop of Orgasm to intensify.

I definitely need to get full sizes of Golden Lotus, which is such a gorgeous subtle golden highlighter, and Tranquil. Tranquil is a great ‘barely there’ blush on me.

The eyeshadows are all great shades. I especially love Genesis and Polymorph. I can’t wait to try Spirit Bond and Dreamstate.

What do you think of the colors? Which ones do you like? What combinations would you try?

Products purchased by me. All opinions are my own.

These are too pretty, goodness. I’m deeply in lust with archangel right now! And faerie fire is really pretty too… I might just have to go check these out. =)

SpiceDropBlog They’re both great lid shades.

Oooh!  I adore duochrome shadows, and they can be so hard to find.  I think I’m going to try these out.

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

CourtneyK Yay! Duochromes are so much fun.

I was about to cry because Australia shipping and I need, I mean NEEEEED Dispersion and Faerie Fire, but then I saw that they have free worldwide sample-only shipping, which is phenomenal.  Duochromes are my favourite, and of all the companies I ogle all the time, only a few seem to make them, and even then, they only make a few.  These are GORGEOUS.  Faerie Fire reminds me of Pavot from the new Aromaleigh “Bloom” collection, but kind of in reverse.  That one’s a peachy pink that glows iridescent violet, and this one is kind of the other way around.  They might look awesome together.  I think I’ma’ find out. :D

Gabrielle_ Do what I do: Place a joint order with a (local) friend and split the shipping cost. It’s SO much easier to swallow the shipping fees that way, although FFC’s international shipping fees are so much more reasonable than the actual Australian Post shipping costs.Let me elaborate: I live in Australia half the time of the year, and their postage prices are simply ridiculous. it costs you around $10 minimum to send packages to the US with air mail (10-14 days, no insurance or tracking); and it’s only for packages up to half a pound in weight! :/ If you’re sending a package to the US and your package is over a pound in weight, there’s also the dreaded $9 surcharge.

Paying more attention to the ones that didn’t grab me as hard the first time, I think Archangel might be similar to Pavot.

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

Gabrielle_ I’ve not seen Pavot, that I can recall.

        • Gabrielle_

Phyrra I looked for a swatch photo online for you, but other than the one they have on their store site right now, I couldn’t really find one.  And the store site swatch doesn’t reveal the amazing iridescence/duochrome effect.

    • Quinctia

Oooh, I probably have several equivalents to Genesis, but I’m really liking Dreamstate, Polymorph, and Dispersion.  I wish I had some skill at pressing eyeshadows…I never use my loose ones.

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

Quinctia Pressing sometimes changes the subtle nuances of the colors. I’ve noticed I reach for more loose if I’m using Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy or MAC Fix +

    • Sandy615

Polymorph and Angel seem to be the most I’d be most comfortable wearing. I’ll write those down. And the pic of you wearing it is lovely. ;)

        Sandy615 Thanks Sandy!

Genesis is perhaps the closest thing I own to cyan, and I LOVE it!  If you’re placing another order with them, I would highly suggest Desecration and Frostfire. I think they’re right up your alley! :DOther of my favorites include Spirit Bond, Exorcism, Shadow Dance, and Jinx. I think it’s about time I just buy all the shades. T_T

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

+RYOU+0013+  I just adore Spirit Bond wet!

    • jeanniesmiles

The only shade I have that you swatched here is Archangel, I picked the more “conventional” colours haha (browns and the lip safe pinky/peachy colours so I can mix my own lip colours). Tranquil is super pretty on you as a blush, it’s very natural.I was wondering if you saw this blog post from the Femme Fatale website, http://femmefatalecosmetics.com.au/researching-indie-cosmetics/ it might be something that your readers who are new to indie makeup (such as myself!) might find interesting :)

    • NoorinNJ

Thanks for posting this review! Just checked out their website and resistance is futile. The free shipping on samples is fantastic! Can’t wait to try the duochromes!

    • Jade Carver

I just got Dispersion and Dreamstate as well! I adore the glitter in them <3

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

Jade Carver I’m happy to hear you like them :)

    • misfitgirlie

Wow, everything you got is SO pretty! I have a hard time picking a favorite!

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

misfitgirlie  It’s hard to choose a favorite with duochromes :)

    • makeupbylaurag

      I want Faerie Fire :D

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

        makeupbylaurag It’s pretty awesome :)

    • cultoftaupe

Polymorph and Dispersion are on my short list. I love your bottom photo with Tranquil…OMG your skin looks amazing and the highlight on the cheeks is subtle but perfect.
