Anastasia Cut a Rug Cut Crease Look

Thursday I tried a look with the Anastasia She Wears it Well palette. The look was called Cut a Rug and it was described as a classic cut crease. I had no idea that the cut crease was a classic and I must admit that I half thought that the cut crease had originated from Queen of Blending (she’s so awesome at them!).

I don’t feel this look turned out well. I tried downblending in the crease way too much.

How to Achieve the look:

  1. Prep the eye area with Too Faced Shadow Insurance.
  2. Apply a wash of Anastasia Almond from lashline to eyebrows.
  3. Apply Anastasia Toffee to the crease. Do not overblend the way I did.
  4. Apply Almond to the inner v and inner lower lash line.
  5. Apply Toffee to the lower lash line and wing it out.
  6. Apply a touch of Toffee to the outer 1/4 of the lash line and some mascara and you’re done.

  • Too Faced Shadow Insurance
  • Anastasia Almond – from lash line to crease, inner v and inner lower lash line
  • Anastasia Toffee – crease, lower lash line, outer 1/4 of outer upper lash line
  • Nyx Pin-up Curl Mascara
  • Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel in Espresso

  • Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation in .5
  • Mirabella powder foundation in 1N

  • Geek Chic joystick in Chrysalis

You can see in the shots with my eye closed more of the actual cut. I just kept thinking I hadn’t blended enough, and then I thought I’d blended too much.

What do you think of the classic cut crease?

Don’t be hard on yourself. I personally cannot afford Anastasia. I have wanted some of the eyebrow products for a couple of years, but since my husband had a stroke (yes, at 36 years old…it was difficult and still is) I cannot just go for a Sephora spree. I can go for mini Walgreens sprees…lol:) However, I have to buy some things like primers, but my friend bought this palette and returned it. I don’t want to be mean as I know their eye brow products are amazing, but she had to return her eye shadow palette, yet loves the brow powders and other brow products. Take care.

macface2adore I’m so sorry to hear about your husband, that is awful :(

Phyrra Thank you. I am just so thankful that he defied everything the doctors told him he would never do again. The first hospital had practically pronounced him dead. I immediately had him flown to a hospital that has a Neuro ICU, I was told to forget everything and we would start over. They told me he would be with them for in house rehab for about six months. That man defied it and walked out in one week. Yes, I drove him 80 minutes a day for therapy, taught him spoon, fork, how to eat, first grade books, everything but being in his home was the best therapy for him. I also cannot say that praying night and day didn’t help. You learn to count your blessings every day and be so thankful for the very small things. At 36, who ever thinks you are looking at deaths door? I am thankful and I appreciate your kind words.

It’s not my favorite look of yours, but I actually don’t think it has anything to do with how you did it…I think I’m just used to seeing you in bold & bright! It is a good background for the bolder lip!

misfitgirlie I think my favorite for bold lips is always the cat eye though :)
