Anastasia She Wears it Well Review and Swatches

Recently I had the opportunity to try out the new Anastasia She Wears it Well palette. This palette was inspired by the women from the Golden Era of Hollywood, the 1930s. It’s supposed to be a mix of Classic Hollywood Glamour with Modern Moxie. The shades are meant to beautify the modern girl by sculpting, adorning, and adding drama to the eyes.

I also received some cards with suggested looks for the palette.

This is with Almond and Toffee. It’s a ‘classic’ cut crease. I had no idea that the cut crease was a classic! It’s called Cut a Rug.

This is with the gorgeous peach Sunset and Foxy. It’s Eyes and Dolls Anytime Eyes.

I love this one! It’s using Frosting all over the eye with strong cat eye liner. It’s the Cat’s Meow perfect cat eye.

Smoky look with Foxy and Onyx. It’s called the Night Owl Knockout Smoky eye.

This is with Foxy and Glow. It’s a Night Time Ombre Eye. This is kind of neat.

I really wish that the cards were included with the palette. The double ended brush is nothing to write home about and really, I’d rather they skip that and add another shadow or make the mattes slightly larger.

While Onyx is not the blackest black I own, it’s still a nicely textured black. In fact, the mattes were all very silky in texture. Good pigmentation and easy to apply and blend. I really liked Almond, as I am quite fond of peachy-beige mattes. Glow was another standout shade, it’s a very pretty golden brown. However, my favorite shade was Sunset. I’m so glad that it’s the largest shade in the palette. It’s beautiful. The shimmer/pearl/sheen shades are a really nice texture.

The colors in this palette are very versatile. It’s perfect for everyday and you can up the ante for night time looks like the Night Owl. You really have a lot of neutral and classic options available.

I played around and created a Cut the Rug Cut Crease Look.

The mattes wore well! The shimmery shades are the normal eyeshadow formula and they wear very nicely.

Currently Anastasia She Wears It Well Eye Shadow Palette is for sale at Sephora.com.

Would I purchase?
Yes. If you’re in the market for a sophisticated neutral palette, definitely check out this one.  I did take a star off for the brush and the fact that the awesome look cards aren’t readily available.

Rating:

What do you think of the colors in this palette? Do you like the suggested looks?

To the best of my knowledge, Anastasia is cruelty-free. Product sent for consideration. All opinions are my own.

I’m really liking this palette. The colors are gorgeous, and right up my alley with all the neutrals. I really love the instructional cards too, as someone without a lot of makeup experience I love when company’s include looks to create.

pinkmariebelle I took a star off because the cards aren’t included, but you can apparently email Anastasia and get the PDF for the cards.

        • pinkmariebelle

Phyrra Thank you for replying! I went back and re-read the post. How did I miss that?! LOL. I guess I took out of it what I wanted and skipped over that part. What a bummer…

I got this palette a few weeks ago, and I’m on the fence about it.  Unfortunately, I bought it under the incorrect assumption that you got the cards with it.  I agree about the brush which is pretty much useless.  I feel without the cards, it isn’t as unique.  I am a collector of neutral palettes, and I found dupes for every color (or in some cases, I found a better color).  Still undecided whether I’m going to go through the mess of returning it back via mail or just give it another shot. :(  Overall, I think it would be a better palette if 1) I didn’t have so many neutral palettes and 2) the cards were included.  (An addition, if you didn’t get the cards, you can email Too Faced, and they will send you the pdfs of the cards.  Not quite the same, but oh well.)

brelki Thank you for sharing that! At least people can email them for the cards. But yeah, that’s why I took a star off.  I feel like the cards did add to it so it’s disappointing that they’re not included, but the colors are still nice.

OMG I just realized I wrote ” you can email Too Faced”!  LOL So that’s what I get for multi-tasking.  I meant Anastasia! *so embarrassed*

I’ve read pretty good things about this palette. I did originally want it, but was disappointed to hear the cards aren’t included. I like the idea of “ideas” coming with the product. So if I couple that with the fact that I have so many neutral palette/collections/what-have-you, I tell myself I don’t need it. Yet I wouldn’t turn it away, haha!

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

misfitgirlie I’m glad that you can at least request the pdf of the cards, but yeah I feel like they should have been included.

    • LillianFunnyFace

I absolutely love the look of Frosting. It’s nice to have some classic neutral matte shades mixed in with the shimmers.

LillianFunnyFace I actually love Almond! It’s flattering on my skintone.
