Makeup Monday – Exotic Bird – Quetzalcoatl Bird

When looking for an Exotic Bird to be inspired by for Jacqueline’s Makeup Mondays, I ran across this quetzal bird on Pinterest. These birds are so cute and vibrant. They have feathers of bright green, turquoise and red.

Here I’m wearing my lovely ring from Cristina of Let Them Have Polish.

How to achieve the Quetzalcoatl Bird Look:

  1. Prep the eyes with Too Faced Shadow Insurance.
  2. With a damp brush, apply Urban Decay Kush to the crease and browbone in a sort of sunray design.
  3. With a fluffy circular brush apply Kryolan Jade in between the rays of Kush, blending it downwards into th green of the crease.
  4. Apply Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy to the lid and inner v.
  5. Apply OCC Jubilee to the inner 2/3 of the lid and the inner v.
  6. Apply Sugarpill Magpie to the outer 1/3 of the lid.
  7. Apply Sugarpill Darling to the seam of Magpie and Jubilee.
  8. Apply Barry M Dazzle Dust 98 Petrol blue to the lower lash line. You could use Magpie instead.
  9. With a damp brush, draw a line with Barry M Dazzle Dust 102 Burgundy Noir, extending it out.
  10. With a round fluffy brush, blend Darling into the crease & use MUFE Aqua Liner 11 Diamond Burgundy along the upper lash line.
  11. Highlight under the eyebrows and at the inner corner with Kryolan Glamour Sparks Blue.
  12. Apply mascara.
  13. Apply Urban Decay 24/7 Electric liner on the lower waterline, followed by Urban Decay 24/7 Flipside liner on top of it.

UneLuneBleue Yay thanks :) I thought it would be a nice touch.

I love the lips, too! I am pretty sure I wore that same lip tar to work once and it bled all over the place and I was embarassed. I think I have a bit to learn about lip tars, haha.I don’t think I knew Kush was that quite that color…it’s pretty. I like the waterline liners, too. I’m pretty sure I have Flipside…I may need to try that!

misfitgirlie Ok, so Mandy from Prettymaking taught me the lip tar trick. I was using WAY too much. Start with the tiniest amount you can get out, like the size of a pin head, and work that on your lips. It goes and goes, as you apply a very thin layer.

Wow you look absolutely amazing! It reminds me of some sort of tribal Goddess from a cartoon. And the liner is awesome once again!

Hands down, your best look yet. And the lip colour *____*

    • Ange

That is an amazing and dramatic look. It really does remind me of birds’ wings. I wonder if I could get away with that as a daytime look at work… :)
