Minimal Makeup Look

My allergies have been severe this past week, so I haven’t worn much makeup. My eyes are swollen. No bueno. I did a minimal makeup look so that I could film some videos. Ray seems to think that I should be making videos more often. I’m going to try! Anyway, for my look I wanted the focus to be on my skin, so I tried to make it look flawless, and my lips.

For my face:
Supergoop Antioxidant – Infused Sunscreen Day Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 50+ (this makes my face ‘normal’ & not oily)
Urban Decay Naked Skin Liquid Foundation in .5
Tarina Tarantino Coral Cameo – cream blush
Too Faced Candlelight Duo – highlight
Anastasia Tinted brow gel in Espresso
Nyx Pin-up Curl Mascara
Anastasia Lash Genius
OCC Strumpet Lip Tar

Using the lovely Safia’s mascara technique makes my lashes really long!

What do you think of my minimal makeup look? This is a really quick face to put together. The thing that took me the longest was the lips, followed by the mascara.

Would you wear it?

I’m sorry about your allergies! That lip looks fantastic on you :)

Thanks Emi! My allergies have been getting progressively worse here in FL.

I hear you on the allergies, I feel all swollen and gross right now its awful. But you look lovely, three cheers for conquering allergies with makeup! XD

      • Phyrra

Aww thanks Adeline! Between Singulair and Zyrtec I can at least breathe :)

This is a great look! Minimal, but elegant and appropriate for just about every situation! Hope your allergies calm down soon though.

      • Phyrra

        Thank you Cin!

WOW love the lips and lashes! I’m feeling your allergy pain – been sneezing my face off the past couple of weeks. ugh. I’m searching Safia’s site for the mascara technique but can’t find it. Link?

I can’t believe she doesn’t have it listed. She showed me in person at the photo shoot on Saturday. She basically takes the tip of the brush (the pointy side) and works it up and down, moving from the outside in, on your lashes with your eyes closed. so instead of using a mascara wand the way I normally would, I use it with her method and get really amazing results. i’m stll awkward with it, but I’ll get better.

I really like the strong lip on you :)

        Thanks B :)

This looks perfect for fall, the lip color especially.

So sorry to hear that your allergies are still acting up! I have ocular allergies, so I feel some of your pain.

      • Phyrra

        Ug, yeah, they suck!

What’s the magic Safia method for mascara? Your lashes look terrific but I couldn’t find it on her blog.

This is a great look for you! You achieved your goal of perfect skin and focus on the lips. It also makes your eyes pop!

Hopefully we’ll have some colder weather this year than last, so those of us down here in Florida will get some relief from our allergies.

Take care and feel better. ^^

Hmmm…I couldn’t find the lash technique on her blog either….your lashes look fabulous!

That’s a lovely look. I’m currently struggling with conditions in Beijing (where I’m the vacationing spouse for a conferencing hubby). Hot (90f), humid, hazy and polluted air. My eyes are always just a bit red, and what looks flawless in the hotel in the morning just melts right off after a day of sweaty sight-seeing, so I feel (and probably look) quite bedraggled by the time I meet up with confence folks for dinner. They all look great since the meeting rooms hav A/C. I am going to try that mascara technique today. I brought coverGirl’s 24 hour lashBlast mascara and it really stays on all day even in this humidity! And since this is the last day for the conference, it’s also the last day I’ll feel the pressure to look fresh at dinner time.

Also looking forward to checking out OCC lip tars when I get home. Hope they have a few neutralish or coraly colors since I don’t do links that well even though I love them.

      • Phyrra

The CoverGirl 24 hour lashblast mascara worked wonderfully for me. I just stopped using it because it’s not cruelty-free. They have a ton of neutral and coral colors. I need to swatch them all.

Call me insane, but this is how I like make-up best on you! You look fantastic, fresh, glowy and healthy!

      • Phyrra

Aww thanks! It’s nice for a change.

You look absolutely beautiful. The lips are a gorgeous colour!

      • Phyrra

        Thanks Lillian :)

Thanks for sharing! I would definitely wear it! Sometimes when I don’t have time to do the whole she-bang, I do my face, blush, mascara, and gloss, but you’re inspiring me to try a bold lip, too! I think I even have that exact lip tar!

      • Phyrra

Definitely! A bold lip really catches attention :)

I love a bold lip with minimal eye makeup and lovely skin! Your skin looks awesome in these pictures, jealous!!!
