Orchid Series – Coral Orchid

Orchids are my favorite flowers. I’m starting an Orchid Series and to kick off the series I’m beginning with Coral Orchids. From what I can tell they’re called Vanda Orchids. Orchids have such diversity! That’s why I thought they’d make a great series.

A note, I did use MAC eyeshadows today. All of my MAC products were purchased BEFORE MAC started testing on animals. As I was a MAC lover from 1999 to 2012, I own a lot of MAC. I don’t use it very often at this point because I’m disappointed in MAC, but I did choose to use some of it for today’s look. I also used Too Faced and Sugarpill, both of whom are proudly cruelty-free.

This was taken with flash to show how Fyrinnae Cupcake Frosting adds a pink glow.

Also, my lips look awesome for this look. I love the Too Faced sparkler gloss with the la creme lipsticks!

I stipped the Jane Iredale BB Cream on my t-zone with the Urban Decay Optical Illusion brush and under the eyes, then blended it outwards. That’s all I have on my face today. I really love how great my skin looks. I swear this brush really does give a flawless appearance.

How to Achieve the Look

  1. Prep the eyes with Too Faced Shadow Insurance
  2. Apply MAC Vanilla to the browbone, crease and inner lid.
  3. Apply MAC Sushi Flower to the outer 3/4 of the lid.
  4. Apply Sugarpill Buttercupcake to the inner v and inner 1/4 of the lid, blending at the seam.
  5. With a fluffy brush, apply MAC Free to Be widely in the crease.
  6. With a fluffy brush, apply Sugarpill Flamepoint to the outer lower crease, blending inwards.
  7. Add more Free to Be to the crease, blending it in with Flamepoint.
  8. With MAC Fix+ on a fluffy brush, apply Fyrinnae Cupcake Frosting lightly to the lid and crease, just sort of dabbing it on.
  9. Apply MUFE Aqua Liner in Burgundy to the lower lash line and the outer upper lash line.
  10. With a smudger brush, smudge Sushi Flower on top of the Burgundy line, then with a fluffy brush apply a touch of MAC Blackberry to the outer crease.
  11. Line the upper lash line and inner v with Too Faced 3 Way liner, and the lower waterline with Urban Decay 24/7 Perversion liner.
  12. Groom your brows and apply mascara.
  13. Highlight at the inner corner and under the brows with MAC Vapour.

I’m so glad you did another tutorial. I keep meaning to tell you how much I LOVE them, but I don’t wanna say it on a post it’s not relevant to. I don’t like videos (for several reasons); I prefer to read reviews and tutorials. And tutorials need pictures! But you go the extra mile and number everything, put it together in a set and list steps with corresponding numbers. PERFECT! I love your tut system so much I look forward to every one! Even if I don’t love the look, I still love the tut and I learn something every time. So, all that to say … thank you for these. They’re just what I need.

RiffRaffRanch Thank you so much for the feedback! I’m happy to hear that they are helpful.

Beautiful! I am really looking forward to seeing the rest of the series!Agreed about your lips; LOVE the colors!I kind of feel like I need to buy every eyeshadow Sugarpill makes, haha. I only have their Heartbreaker palette. I also agree with RiffRaffRanch that I like your tutorial system a lot and really look forward to them. I usually don’t do much with my crease, but I am learning more! I did your Hum Plum look today, actually, and I feel like it wasn’t my best work and the colors I used turned out duller than I wanted, but when I looked at it overall, it still looked pretty cool because it was different than my norm. I know what I want to do next time I try it. So, thanks for all of your hard work with the tutorials!

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

misfitgirlie I vote yes on Sugarpill. And I’m so happy that you like my tutorials! Yay :)

    • tikibwana

I grow orchids… actually, a lot of them come in coral… cattleyas, phalaenopsis, and vandas, among others. Vanilla comes from an orchid…Orchids are really quite fascinating, and addictive, too… kind of like make-up…lol.

      • http://www.Phyrra.net/ Phyrra

tikibwana I love their variety! I also love Vanilla :)

    • trumpette

This is going to be an amazing series! I love the pink outer/yellow inner – love these colours together. And agree with the two gals below – your photo tutorials are SOOOO good – I’ve learned so much from you, thank you!!!

    • roxcat

What an amazing look, the colors are so vivid and beautiful!

    • nessdenise

I definitely wish I was as brave as you to wear a look like this. Looks sooo good on you, but I can’t myself wear a lot of makeup without looking funny!

    • Trillium

I love your blush and highlighting here. Looks amazing! These eye colors are some of my favorites too.

Hi there. This look is gorgeous. I am still reeling over the fact that my blog was hacked after three years of long hard work and so many followers. It is heart wrenching, but I picked back up where I left off with a new domain. It was a mess…I think my husband thought my tears were ridiculous, but the work that goes into the videos and blogging is well, insane:) However, I love it. I would love to know how you do the pictures all together. I get so many requests for tutorials, but sometimes I think blogging the tutorials would be great unless it is something I have to show “in person”…if you read this, I would love to have any advice. Or if anyone else reads it…my email is [email protected] Thanks so much!

I love coral! I don’t think I see enough of it around. Lovely.
